With Dark Souls 2 on the way out, this is definitely one of the strangest and sickest product tie-ins I've seen in a long time.

Satanism AND video games? It must be fucking Christmas. I assume the terrorists built the time machine to send her the video game in the past. And it was all constructed by zombie Hitler, who with his painting abilities went on to create video games, such as Dark Souls, all to make sure that these killings happened. I mean, that seems to be the only logical conclusion to how these events transpired.
No, it was created by socialist zombie mexican gay hitler who also put graphical sex scenes into everything.
And the most terrifying part of it all, it was to free up jobs for his gay mexican friends who are have sex on their many marijuanas in the office where they now work to make assault weaponry illegal. It's just all so obvious when you think about it.

Due to the press Dark Souls II is currently getting, the writer (yes, their news requires a "writer") probably wanted to pin it on that but had to back peddle since it isn't out yet...

...which some observers in this thread have already mentioned he might have back peddled too much.

To be fair, he's got a point: Dark Souls filled me with murderous rage because IT'S SO FUCKING HARD!!!

Well since the murders started before Darks Souls even went into production there can only be one logical conclusion. This girl is a Terminator sent from the future to eliminate resistance members in the present. And of course to do that the machines had to make a stop off at 2011 to get conytol of the one bit of software known for its reckless disregard of human life, Dark Souls.

Oh and...

"Other video type things"

Fox you never disappoint do you?

You mean video type things like TV, DVD or VHS? You know what you're right we need to ban all video type things and get back to wholesome media like things like gramophones or something. In fact that gives me an idea, a couple of gramophones, a 15 minute slot on Fox News, a lab coat and a claim that 30 minutes of gramophone listening will make your child 50% less murderous and I could make millions.

What Fox News doesn't say and what you won't hear in any news source is that Miranda is actually trying to join the Dark Brotherhood, Oblivion style.

Breaking news! 90% of all serial killers were wearing underpants at the time they committed their murders! Underpants linked to serial murder! Ladies, get them drawers off lest you too turn to a life of crime! [Yes I'm obviously joking. Jesus, Internets.]

If I'm lead to believe this is true, I would like to see every book, magazine, television show, movie, and theater she went to. Just because she enjoyed something doesn't mean it inspired her to do them. CORRELATION does not equal CAUSATION. Remember that Penn State football thing a few years ago, where Jerry Sandusky molested a bunch of children? This would be equivalent to saying "Well, coaching football made the adult into a pedophile by putting him near kids."

Its a correlation. Chances are, if she was heavily involved in Satanic cults, she would probably have been drawn to Dark Souls because of the demons and dark nature - not the other way around. And considering we're taking the crazy ladies word at face value, its impossible for Dark Souls to give her the motivation - seeing as how the title didn't exist back then. If we fell under the correlation = causation fallacy, it would make more sense that movies and literature that deal with demons and the occult, which have been around for WAY longer than videogames, probably caused it.

Hell, there's more proof that the 24 hour news cycle causes mass murders and controversial stories like this to appear then videogames. Its clearly just Fox News baiting for views again. They're telling their viewer base, which is a bunch of old, paranoid and uneducated dolts EXACTLY what they want to hear - and let facts be damned.

In other words - "we found that this killer had a hobby other than killing, and just so happened to be Dark Souls." I'm sure if it hadn't been Dark Souls, it would have been a different game. But that's a day of Fox News for you.

Frankly speaking, I'm a sexual deviant who loves video games, but those two things are in no way linked.

At this point, I think Peter Johnson Jr. should just give up on life. Retire, go home, separate himself from society. Because he used the phrase "video-type things" on national TV in what is supposed to be a serious news article. And no matter what else he does in his life, no matter what he accomplishes, he will always be remembered as the "video-type things" guy. It would be sad if it wasn't so stupid.

Other than that, boilerplate "VIDJA GAYMES MAK UR CHELDRIN MURDUUUR" stuff. Not much to say about it, beyond the usual contempt and disgust they they're trying to pin people's deaths on a piece of entertainment that isn't them.
Ok. Ok. Ok. That is IT.

You are all horrible, insensitive, inconsiderate people and I'm ashamed to be associated with any of you.

It must really be nice, living your perfect little lives uninterrupted by videogame-related killing sprees, eh? Well let me tell YOU something. NOT ALL OF US CAN BOAST THE SAME THING.

This is my confession. When I was a young teenager, my favorite pastime was playing the ultra-violent gorefest, "Warcraft: Orcs and Humans". This game scarred my psyche more than I can even describe to you. But I couldn't stop! It was an addiction, let me tell you! An addiction!

And as a direct result of that game, in which I massacred thousands of make-believe orcs... I, TMDC, have murdered over thirty orcs in real life. Slaughtered them. With a big broadsword.

I still see each of their green pig-like faces in my dreams. IN MY NIGHTMARES.

Y'know, I've never admitted that to anybody else before now. It feels good to finally get it off my chest.

Heed my warning, and heed the words of Fox News! Avoid these kinds of video-type things! They will turn your children into killers, terrorists, homosexuals, and dark-skinned atheist Muslim liberal Mexican migrant drug-dealers!

Oh lord, Escapist is posting about this again already? I want to know, why isn't there a clip for this segment in the article? I briefly checked Youtube, and couldn't find the clip there either.

Am I suggesting that Fox put up some other person to boldly refute the person making these claims, thus making Fox News look (as) fair and balanced (as it actually is if you fucking watch it for once you idiots)? Maybe, but I wouldn't want to claim that people are deliberately only picking out one side of Fox's hosts and guests to continue the bullshit that it's somehow all in favor of one side.

However I DO know that Fox has totally defended video games in the past, and that I neeever saw The Escapist fucking post about it. Since these 'durr hurr Fox news is so shitty and conservative' articles could practically be written in a template, I might as well just copy paste part of what I already posted last week.

http://i.huffpost.com/gen/12175/thumbs/s-NEIL-CAVUTO-large.jpg

I remember when Cod Ghosts came out, Neil Cavuto brought on a lady who claimed that violent games like those lead to violent behavior.

Now, what do you think Cavuto's response to her was? Did he nod in agreement? Did he passionately tell her how right she was? Did he say she wasn't going far enough? Why no, he chewed up and spit out her argument right back at her, pointing out how silly and stupid it was through basic scrutiny.

But was this snip cut out and posted on The Escapist?

Ok... that was probably a lot more mature and well-researched than my post was. Damn you UltraHammer for spoiling my perfectly good joke with your reasoned argument and facts!

In my defence (and after this I feel that I need one), I'm not an American, so most of the "Fox News" stuff I hear about tends to be from websites like this... which, as you point out, may not be the most unbiased source ever.

Actually, Fox News is quite smart. They make a substantial amount of money off this kind of bullshit. It's a gross disservice to the populous and perpetuates the stereotype that Americans are all retarded, but it makes them a lot of money. To a certain kind of person, that's all that really matters.

Pretty much. Gotta love the Jack Thompson Effect.

Still, how do these people even breathe, seriously? Or is it because they have breathing problems that not enough oxygen reaches the brain, thus DUH feeds more DUH in a vicious cycle?
