FOX to Recast Futurama

You CAN'T replace the voice actors for most of the cast-It's iconic! Bender, Fry, Leela, Zoidberg and such would be impossible to recreate without the original voice actors. Sure, some of the less used characters like Zapp, the kids or Amy might be able to be changed, but come one...Pay them their dues!

Why is it FOX's fault? the voice actors are being money grubbers. They are JUST voice actors, they shouldnt be getting a salary that is any more or less than that. It would be different if it where a whole acting role, but its not. They have always been expendable and for once I'm glad a company put the little "actors" in their place.

I'd like to point out that if the 'actors' really cared about their fans they could perhaps TRY to work out a common ground with the salary, you dont see them giving any ground for their fans of the show. They are just using thier fans as tools to get more money. Dont be used. In a few shows you wont even remember the old voices, jesus.

I've worked backstage for a few gigs, doesn't matter if all the instruments, sound, seating and everything is perfect but if you piss off the band and they walk then WTF are you going to tell the audience? "oh, we tried extra hard, your favourite band isn't here, but I played their songs on guitar hero, lets have a go."

People came here to see the performers, the voice actors are given top billing in the credits for a REASON!

You BETTER be trolling with bullshit that you don't believe because if you think the voice parts only play a small part of the show then you are a... grrr... it's almost worth the ban to say what I want to say to you... almost!

You can redo it time and time again and no one has to know how many times you've messed up. Bands have to have it right. It's not so much cocky as being wanted to be paid what they're worth. It's no secret that Voice Actors, despiting being incredibly talented, aren't as well paid or respected as normal actors. Hell what they were asking for, while more then what they got originally, is still much less then what other actors are paid. Hell they whole cast pretty much plays multiple characters, so Fox can afford to pay them a little bit more for it. After all they cut the writing team in half; if they don't want the show to fail at the very least they could pay the actors with the money they're saving.

Because honestly, with half the writers and none of the original cast nobody would watch the show, meaning all the money that Fox puts into it will go to waste, which means they'd lose more from not paying the actors then by giving them what they want.

Hmm, I can't really see the voice actors becoming super greedy spontaneously and demanding massive raises so either Fox is becoming poor for reasons unknown or they are TOTAL RETARDS.

You don't throw out people with big names like that, Futurama has existed for years, people are going to judge it based on the old names and they likely won't be satisfied with the new people. I can't think of any reason why this would work, bad move, Fox.

That's smart. Bring back a show that had a hardcore fan following, and then piss off the same hardcore fans by changing around the voices of the characters. Imagine if they had done this with Family Guy. Of course its a different scenario as the same people who do the voices are also writers, but also like FG, a lot of voices are done by a few people. Maybe they'll do like with Ren & Stimpy and eventually have Billy West do all of the voices. I'm sure he could come up with a decent Bender impression that doesn't sound too much like Marcus Fenix but still is adequate.

Ummm.. if Futurama had been massively popular, it wouldn't have been canceled and then brought back. I'm not bashing the show or anything, and I also thought it was canceled before it had run its course, but the cast of Futurama doesn't really have the ball in their court. It doesn't help that this is a risky project in the first place and the economy sucks, leaving networks with less money available.

Ummm.. if Futurama had been massively popular, it wouldn't have been canceled and then brought back. I'm not bashing the show or anything, and I also thought it was canceled before it had run its course, but the cast of Futurama doesn't really have the ball in their court. One should not accuse Fox of making decisions with any logic behind them (recently green lit Fox films: Alvin & The Chimpmunks 2, Hitman 2 & the Predator remake).

I'd like to know exactly how they expect to replace Billy West. He does the vast majority of the voices for both major and minor characters. For example in the last Futurama movie he voiced:

Philip J. Fry / Professor Hubert Farnsworth / Dr. Zoidberg / Leo Wong / Poker Sign-Up Clerk / Leo's Caddy / President Richard Nixon / Miniture Gold Construction Worker / Zapp Brannigan / The Dark One's Psychic Voice / Antonin Scalia's Head / Madfellow / Striped Biologist Taunter

By employing Billy West and to a lesser extent Maurice LaMarche and Phil LaMarr, Fox are getting top quality voice acting for all the minor characters in the series for much less than it would cost them to hire additional voice actors. How is that not worth paying a bit more money for?
