WTF!? The voice actors who do those roles do practically every other character in the show (especially Billy West) who would be left from the original cast? I think Nibbler is the only one left.
Didn't Nibbler eat himself out of existance in the first movie?

But anyway, my disliking towards this idea is exactly equal to the disliking I felt towards having no nightcrawler in the third X-men movie..
(although in fairness, X-men 3 was awful in my opinion).
You can't just outright decide "ok, they're asking for more money, we gotta axe them straight out and find someone new."

I have no doubt that there are plenty of fan-imitators out there already jumping onto this.

but it's like the guy I quoted said, ditching the MAIN cast? especially when (like he said) Billy West plays roles in futurama which quantify to that of a small town...

The voice of Bender? I'm sorry, but I've heard John speak... It's HIS VOICE! So how do they intend to get a better performance?

And of course, Zap Brannigan... He's not in it enough as it is, but you replace his voice, people will notice... I sure as hell will, I mean I'm not gonna want to imitate him around my college campus with my mates if I'm too focused on the fact he sounds nothing like he used to...

Surely Matt Groening (I think I got that right...) must have fought against Fox's decision? couldn't he just refuse to let Fox use futurama unless they agree to at least negotiate the pay-check?

I mean It's not like Fox isn't a company with more money than God... They own practically EVERYTHING in america...

"The show must go on"? Aren't these the same jabbering idiots who canceled the show in the first place?

"Could not meet their salary demands"? You dumb bastards. You're a multi-billion dollar network who brings in more money than you know what to do with. You can easily meet the salary demands of these actors if you simply got rid of the shit nobody is watching and stopped paying stupid amounts of money to reality show hosts.

I don't think FOX actually wants the show back, I think they just want to look that way. IN the end they can try to make out the cast to be bad people so nobody else will want to pick up the show and it gets canceled forever so nobody else can make any money off of it. I mean, the show is a cash cow and brings in ratings. I stay up late at night, usually due to insomnia, and watch whatever episodes may be playing on Comedy Central at 1 in the morning.

Why is it FOX's fault? the voice actors are being money grubbers. They are JUST voice actors, they shouldnt be getting a salary that is any more or less than that. It would be different if it where a whole acting role, but its not. They have always been expendable and for once I'm glad a company put the little "actors" in their place.

I'd like to point out that if the 'actors' really cared about their fans they could perhaps TRY to work out a common ground with the salary, you dont see them giving any ground for their fans of the show. They are just using thier fans as tools to get more money. Dont be used. In a few shows you wont even remember the old voices, jesus.

That's why it's been re-runs for the past few years? Oh dear. They better not do this. If they do, I'll write an angry letter.

This is coming from the network that gave us season 2 of Doll House but killing the Terminator SCC. This from the people who dropped Family Guy because of one episode only to beg them back and allow them even more leeway in what envelopes they want to push.

It's not like voice actors ever get paid anything near live action actors. I'm pretty sure the production value of a Futurama episode is far and away below the cost of any live action drama they have on the air right now. This is just another way in which Fox proves it has no idea what the people actually watch their shows for.

Edit: And for those wondering they will be bringing back only a portion of the writing staff. Looks like they want this project to be as lean as some stupid Shonen Jump cartoon they air on Sat mornings.

I sent off this E-mail to the casting director.

Seriously, replacing the whole cast? You must surely be aware of how incredibly... BAD, that makes the Fox network look, considering this series is a cult hit with an already rabid fanbase. Fans get angry at a slight change in continuity, and you want to change the voice stylings completly?

The voices of the characters are the heart and soul of this show. I know you think you can save it with good writing, but you can't. It won't be Futurama, and you may as well option an original property instead of trying to ressurect this, because you will lose the primary fanbase you hope to inherit.

Respectfully,

Andrew Schiffbauer

PS: This is likly to be the most coherent and slur free of the many letters you will recieve on this subject.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it, as the old saying goes.

On this, it was once said way back in the early 2000's that Futurama was a very pricey show to run in the first place, which lead to it being canned in the first place. The sad thing is, though, that you're 100% right on them not knowing how to treat their audience, attention seeking derogatory bumps aside.

Which is only further proof that they're just trying to make a profit out such an opus.

The real question that needs to answered is that if paying such voice actors was really so expensive. This can be answered with a big fat no since these voice actors make many appearances in much lower budget productions. It's like I said above with less words, FOX treats it's audience like slack-jawed morons that lack common sense.

No, they are not "just voice actors" they are the fucking TALENT!

I've worked backstage for a few gigs, doesn't matter if all the instruments, sound, seating and everything is perfect but if you piss off the band and they walk then WTF are you going to tell the audience? "oh, we tried extra hard, your favourite band isn't here, but I played their songs on guitar hero, lets have a go."

People came here to see the performers, the voice actors are given top billing in the credits for a REASON!

You BETTER be trolling with bullshit that you don't believe because if you think the voice parts only play a small part of the show then you are a... grrr... it's almost worth the ban to say what I want to say to you... almost!

I'm just trying to think of what low down good for nothing voice actor would ever accept the job to replace these parts after these talented voice actors had been deprived of their most successful roles for such bullshit reasons.

I mean I would not be surprised if any actor who applies to replace the cast got blacklisted. They have my support at least.

I've heard the voice actors were asking for $75,000, less then other actors for other Fox shows.

Anyone who thinks the actors are in any way at fault here are morons. Fox has consitantly screwed Futurama over. They're just using budget cuts as an excuse to make Futurama as terrible as they possibly can so when it gets low ratings they can pull the plug on it, dismiss all the fans efforts and reaffirm that they were right to cancel the show in the first place.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ExecutiveMeddling - Although Futurama doesn't have an entry on this one, count how many times Fox appears on the list. Hell you can make a drinking game of it.
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ScrewedByTheNetwork - Futurama does appear on this one. Again; you can making a drinking game with all the fox references.

Just don't try that drinking game for http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheFireflyEffect or else you'll get alchol posioning.

Oh no! I heard that Futurama was being brought back and I was excited. Now that I see the voice actors will be different, I see no reason to watch the show.

lol dont take it so personal hun, wez on da internetz. I just see no reason why everyone is making a big fuss. Thats what I mean about voice acting. You can redo it time and time again and no one has to know how many times you've messed up. Bands have to have it right. Also their voices can be messed with to no end and youd never know the difference. I'd rather have the show than be without because the voice actors refused to take a small dive to please their fans. Cocky arrogrant actor, no matter how talented = nothing to me.

Nope, the show must NOT go on. Make a new show instead, since its not right that way. Voice is a BIG deal. You could make the animation suck, but if it was still the same voices and comedy, it would be fine, but you take out the voices, you take out most of the character's personallities that the origional actors put in. I am not watching this crap.

Well that's utter bullshit...
By recasting it, they will strip the show of all the personality and familiarity viewers loved it for.

Smart move, corporate media assholes, smart move...
