Am I the only one that feels it quite paradoxial that FOX, of all, say the show must go on? If anything FOX have been all for stopping any show whenever the hell they felt like it and it comes across as quite hypocritical for them to now say it.

Edit: To clarify the quote: I'm quoting nilcypher who in turn is quoting some dolt at FOX.

That is sad but I lost a lot of interest about Futurama after the last two (awful) movies.

I guess I am going to to have to see them in spanish now. The voices are inferior to the ones in english, but at least they will feel familiar.

To say the cast is being greedy is not logical. These are not rookies, or tv actors turned voice. They are seasoned industry professionals. They know what the business is worth and would not demand outrageous fees if they didn't feel they were justified. One thing to note is that the cast's pay is one-time. It doesn't matter how many ways fox resells the episodes and makes more money on it, the actors don't see any additional money. So knowing that fox will broadcast it on their network, syndicate it to comedy central or cartoon network, sell dvds, and run it on hulu or the like, the cast is probably considering all these when asking for a particular fee.

I really want to be a voice actor, I have for most of my life, and one thing I used to really dream about was of being on Futurama. If I made it onto the show and got to be a guy who screams for one second off-camera, it would still be worth it if I got to meet the cast, maybe get some tips for getting jobs on other shows, and start a career in it. I looked over the descriptions given in the original article linked above, and considered auditioning for about 30 seconds before realizing that not only would I always blame myself for taking away part of that wonderful show if I got the job, but it would also be a terrible career move, because no one, NO ONE can replace any of them. If Fox goes through with this, their restarting the show is going to be the final nail in the coffin. They'll be no way to bring it back because no one will ever trust them to handle it right. I would probably never get a job in voice acting because I would be known for my appearance in the horrible remake of Futurama, and I would have to live with the fact that I was a part of killing one of my favorite series' for good.

I'm ashamed it took me a full 30 seconds to figure that out.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY, not Bender and Zoidberg, those two are irreplacable, I could sorta go with new voice actors for the other people, BUT not new voice actors for those two.

Damn you FOX

I rather watch re-runs of the old Futurama than have new VA in the new Futurama. This show is good for the excellent and amusing dialogues. Replacing the VAs we know and love changes the feel of the show and eliminates the nostalgia.

Reminds me of this scene from the Simpsons:
Lisa: Isn't mid-season just a dumping ground for second-rate shows
that weren't good enough for the fall schedule?

Homer: You're thinking of all the other years. This year's shows
are classic. There's "The Laughter Family" -- that's
animated. Networks like animation 'cause they don't have to
pay the actors squat!

Ned: [voice slightly off] Plus, they can replace them, and no one
can tell the diddley-ifference!

I heard that they are holding open-cast auditions for the program (in other words, recasting everyone), but have not publicly stated the old voice actors will be replaced. I think this is a pathetic ploy to reduce the salary that these guys got paid for doing the films (a substancial improvement over what the tv show paid) by saying "if you don't agree to our terms, we can replace you." It's not going to work, because people won't watch it with new voice actors. Fox could honestly give a shit less, because the show will not be as profitable as it was, seeing as it's on comedy central now.

In these cases I don't know who to be more pissed at the greedy producers or the greedy actors but I think it's funny that both sides try to appeal to our better nature and ask the fans to stick up for them while both sides are threatening the integrity of the very thing we want.
I also got pissed at Michael Cera when he was harballing for his pay on the Arrested Development movie.

It's like here in NYC we had a transit strike: on one side the transit workers (who's laziness and apathy make pubic transportation slow and unpredictable) and on the other side the MTA (the largest public transportation provider in the western hemisphere who seem to only care about determining how much blood they can squeeze from us) ; both trying to appeal to the common citizen whom they both screw us over at every opportunity.

this has been done twice yesterday

EDIT:eek:oops din´t see who wrote the topic, sorry.... *hides in shame*
I was wondering the same thing, but decided not to say as it's in The News Room. You don't mess with The News Room.

On topic, this is a real shame. Futurama was a very good series and I'll be sad to see so many main characters leave. It will have almost a completely different feel about it. Shame on you, 20th Century Fox! Shame on you!

*breaks down crying*
don't u mean 30th Century Fox lol
on topic, this is a fucking outrage, the cast are irreplacable, who else will recreate the pathetically hilarious Dr. Zoidberg:
"no no no no, not that mouth"
"I only have one"
"Really?"

that's cos FOX hasn't even got a single whole brain cell within the entire company, they cancel pretty much all of their shows no matter how good.
p.s. watch first episode of Family Guy series 4 "North By North Quahog" opening scene takes the piss SO badly!!
