Seconding this and thirding Advance Wars.

For the former, a return to FM4's turn based strategy with perhaps a touch more flexibility and action (for example, I saw a tactical war game similar to it once called Ring of Red where enemies and allies only moved when you did. That could be used to blend turn-based mech combat and action). I even wrote a script for it up to about the 8th mission. For the latter, I kept expecting to see a new game come out in the 'Days of Ruin' timeline linking it to the original trilogy by having Tabitha and Waylon found Black Hole and Will & Co. found the other nations.

The Lost Vikings. Blizzard apparently cares enough to give it cameos and references in both Warcraft and Starcraft as well as hire Gilbert Gottfried and Jim Cummings to voice the PC remake, but not enough to ever give us a third game. Probably because they know there would be pressure to make it 3D, which might not work with its style of puzzle-platforming.

Ninja Gaiden. I was just thinking about this the other day when someone made a thread asking about old games that I liked without nostalgia goggles. Not that I felt the first of the new trilogy was bad, just that it kind of lost its way after, losing the difficulty it was known for in the third game and embracing Call of Duty-style storytelling and enemies of all things. Like the mystical lineage of the Dragon Clan was meant to fight off terrorists instead of demons and the Spider Clan. Maybe we could introduce some other clans sworn to that duty in a new game, like the Eagle and Bear clans specialising in acrobatics and strength respectively. Regardless of the story, it's important to face Ryu with brutally fast and powerful ranks of murderous enemies both human and non, and make him feel even greater than them upon a well-earned victory.

Demon's Crest/Gargoyle's Quest, with Firebrand as flying demon Kratos who can also change to various elemental forms. Is Firebrand the first side character to ever get their own spin-off games? I think might be. He predates both Zero and Raiden.

Hexen because its amazing. Dark and moody, borderline Lovecraftian. Could really do with a Pain killer-esque graphics update and expansion.

Lost Kingdoms because its what Magic the Gathering players think they're doing. And its amazing and clever. And hunky lizard men carry thick swords.

Conker. Real Conker, not that horrible abomination they're trying to shove down out throats.

Dungeon Keeper so long as they make you really evil. Non of that bullshit Lord Filthy Rich is raping all the beer and drinking all the women, let's go steal his gold shit. Have it be Lady Good Intentions is curing puppies of cute cancer, we need to boil her alive and feed the soup to the puppies to turn them into hellhounds.

Okami... A hundred times Okami. And, please, make it an open world, Zelda-like game like the first game, not like the DS sequel. And in the topic of Zelda-like games that make for better games than many actually called Zelda, I could also endorse a new Darksiders game.

I?d like to see [PROTOTYPE] given a fair shake on the current gen. The first one was my favorite open-world violent dumb-fun romp of last gen. The combat was just so visceral and the powers were so over-the-top, it was hard not to enjoy yourself whilst playing. The second one made lots of improvements on the mechanical side and the gameplay was just as OTT and fun, but I think it was a mistake to take the already flimsy story in the direction they did. They had lightning in a bottle with the morally dubious anti-hero Alex Mercer in the first game; making him the antagonist in the second against protagonist James Heller, a stale revenging hero trope, just felt? wrong. Firstly, nothing ?nice? comes from an infection that allows you to turn your arms into blades; a ?good guy? doesn?t eat civilians to regain health. Secondly, as a new IP, changing lead characters for the second game, before they?d even established the franchise, just seemed noncommittal and desperate. They really tied their hands for future instalments unless they planned on going the GTA or Assassins Creed route where it?s ?the same game, but different guy? each iteration, but they blew that option out the water when their two leads already inhabit the same universe with stories directly intertwined. Alas, it?s probably a moot point. The developer has since been shut down and [PROTOTYPE] conscribed to the annals of gaming history as yet another near-home run caught off the back wall.

And, of course, The Darkness. *Sigh*, first off, I HATE when a fantastic game/franchise changes developmental hands. Second, as the inheriting developer, why don?t you start where the last left off and stay true to what merited a sequel in the first place before you start putting your little touches every-goddamn-where?? I mean, who played the first Darkness with its amazing characters (mostly the love of my gaming life, Jenny) and atmosphere and said ?you know what this needs? Our tragic hero needs to be a wealthy mafia boss with a comic sidekick and, of course, cel-shading.?

Seriously the gamecube game was amazing, and the DS game that came after was also pretty damn great too. So what happened Nintendo?


I need more customizable asskicking microrobots that I can dive into to fight other asskicking microbots who use illegal weaponry and put my robos into badass poses!

I don't want to hear about why that cannot happen, I just want more.

But if it came down to it (and I didn't have bills to pay, and I was fully versed in a viable modern 3D engine, and had licensed copies of ZBrush, Maya and Photoshop, and access to an intense library of maps, pics and soundbytes from the region, and had a cast of voice actors fluent in both English and Ukranian) I'd helm the remake my bloody self.

I get that Nintendo doesn't want to compete with their own IP, but that game is easily the game I miss most from my GameCube days.I played the hell out of that game.

There's so much potential for a new game, I would love to see an MMO style sequel where you can create your own character and ship and join other real people in tournaments and Nintendo can hold a yearly grand prix and make it an eSport and put it on Twitch and make lots of money and damnit Nintendo just make a new F-Zero game please

Mark of Kri. If you never played this game, shame on you. It was such a fun beat em up game, with a cool premise, awesome atmosphere with the narrator, and was just overall a damn fun game.

Homeworld. I lub me some Homeworld, it's probably in my top 5 games of all time, at the very least the top 10 for sure. Few games have triggered so many emotional responses from me in such a short time, as the first Homeworld game. And then Homeworld: Cataclysm came out, and did it even better. Homeworld 2 was...meh, frankly disappointing, but I still enjoyed it to some degree. I want more in this universe, more more more.

Thief. An ACTUAL Thief reboot, that works properly, understands how stealth should function, and embraces the freedom of choice you were given in the first game.

Parasite Eve: A third PE game, plox (The 3rd Birthday never happened. Never. Ever. Did not happen, understand?).

Voodoo Vince: A remaster is in the works, it'd be nice if it did well enough this time around to justify a second game. Unfortunately I'm not sure the somewhat adult humor mixed with cartoony graphics will go over any better this time around than it did the first.

Ratchet & Clank: Yeah, they did the remix/remaster before the movie, both of which pretty much flopped. I'd love to see the series continue, preferably sans the bad gimmicks that have characterized most of the more recent additions. Sadly Insomniac seems to have grown bored of the IP quite a while ago and 3D platformers in general don't have the popularity they did back in the day .

Full Throttle: Another game with a soon-to-be-released remaster on the way. Once upon a time there was going to be a sequel, it would be nice if the remaster lead to Full Throttle II finally being made.

OH MY FUCKING GOD THANK YOU! For years, for YEARS, I have been trying to figure out what that franchise is. I saw it in an ancient copy of Nintendo Power when I was a kid, and I've been trying ever since to figure out what it was so I could check it out. Thanks a million!

OT: Metroid. Come on. Give us a REAL Metroid game.

You is teh welcomez, friend. Believe me when I say the first four iterations of the franchise are memorable in their own right. I have the first two on GameBoy Advance and the thrid and fourth on PSN. Capcom seriously needs to make another console version of this franchise, whether it be for the 3DS (my first choice, if they don't have a lot of money to spend on it but want to do something with it) or make it a digital purchase for the PS4 or XBox 1.

I'd love to see and aspect of the franchise that combines the bird travel from the first game, shamans from the second game, the gene splicing dragon transformations from the third, the combo system from the fourth and the master system from both the third and fourth games. By the dragon gods, it would be glorious.

Lots. Lots and lots. The first few that spring to mind: Thief, X-Com, Master of Orion. Yes, all of them have more modern incarnations, but I want revivifications that don't suck (well, okay, the new X-Com didn't suck, but it was appallingly safe and simplified; it had more in common with Enforcer than Apocalypse). After that come System Shock, Star Control, and Mechwarrior, which are all getting new games, so once again, note that I want revivifications that don't suck (especially troublesome with Star Control; Stardock games tend to be functionally solid but completely soulless; not a good fit for a series that was almost absolutely bursting with soul). If we can count franchises that had only one game, then Darklands, King of Dragon Pass, and Undying. And though it's not a game or even a genre, I'd like to see a return to not fearing complexity; the wall behind my computer gets lonely with just one poster-sized quick reference chart on it. Where's my shuttle simulator 2, damn it?

I'd say Zork, Mines of Titan, and Crescent Hawk, but they'd have to be made by Activision, and the thought of that makes me want to cry.
I'd say TIE Fighter, Populous, and Wing Commander, but they'd have to be made by EA, and the thought of that makes me want to vomit.

While it's not something I have a great desire to see, I do wonder why there haven't been any new Commander Keen games in the last two and a half decades.

Timesplitters, the third one was ridiculously good, I don't know why they stopped making them.

Because the third game definitively ended the series by retroactively keeping the events of the games from ever happening. How could you make a sequel to that?

Metroid: I'm iffy about this. Whether Metroid counts as dead is down to your opinion, given the...mixed, responses, to Other M and Federation Force. I'm also mixed because I'm not sure if plot-wise, the series needs continuation, that I haven't played that many Metroid games, and of the ones I have, I've only enjoyed the 2D ones. I mean, since Fusion, it's been one interquel/prequel after another. And despite what some might say, I don't think Fusion needs a continuation plot-wise. Oh sure, you could, but it doesn't need it. But I figure if there's ever a "proper" Metroid game again...well, 2D? Pretty please? Heck, just purchase AM2R or something.

I'm personally of the opinion that, with the exception of Metroid Prime and possibly Zero Mission (which is a remake anyway), the series should've stopped after Super Metroid. Basically what I'm saying is I didn't like Fusion.

Chromehounds. It had a unique multiplayer set up, and was a really fun more "realistic" build-a-mech shooter. Maybe Fromsoft can work on that instead of Dark Souls now? Just balance it better.

I see you were also one of the 12 people who bought that game. FROM could definitely do something cool with the franchise if they brought it back. The faction based multiplayer was pretty cool.

Quest for Glory. Keep the humor and the world, but maybe give it a Dark Souls type combat system and mix it with some puzzle solving and roleplaying dialogue.
In fact I'd love to see QFG 1-5's story retold in a modern 3rd person action adventure RPG. QFG 1-4 were great games, 5 wrapped up the story and was good in terms of plot but terrible in terms of gameplay. Sierra really should have stuck with the animated style rather than try to convert the game into 3d when the tech was still somewhat terrible.

Holy shit, this. I played almost all the Sierra games, but none of them stuck with me as long as QFG 1-4. I replayed each one at least twice, some more than 3 (thief, mage, fighter, and paladin). I only played 5 briefly, the gameplay was a bit too lousy to get through the whole thing. I really enjoyed the VGA remakes of QFG 1, wish'd they did 2 as well. Was glad to see it included in the GOG bundle.

Would work so well with a Dark Souls combat system, big monsters, humans, you can use daggers, shields, swords magic, perfect for the RPG elements. The agility and such could work with a Skyrim system of levelling and climbing. I think it would work so well as a third-person action rather than a point and click for modernization.

Pretty much end of thread for me. The unofficial, fan made remake fulfilled that itch for me in a big way, it was such a beautiful homage and mix up of the whole series. Couldn't have asked for better, only problem is the enemies moved a tad quick, but that's minor. Having Axel and the gang come back with modernized graphics and gameplay would be brilliant. There's simply hardly any decent arcade beat-em-ups around anymore, despite a few gems like Castle Crashers and Mother Russia Bleeds.

For my own, I'd like to put down:
-Mech Warrior
I think this has a stupid amount of potential, especially with the complexity and availability of controls these days. Imagine, you put this together with flight sticks, pedals, and VR. Nothing where you'd have to take your hands off though. It would be incredible, if the motion of a mech didn't make you sick. Or heck, just a triple monitor setup.
-Bushido Blade
Blade combat, no health bars, all about stances, timing, and a bit of luck. Throw in some cool settings (rooftop, bamboo forest), traditional weapons, and incapacitation, and zany characters and you have the recipe for a real corker. All of which the original had.
-Syndicate
But a proper revival, not turning it into another FPS. Another RTS would be fantastic though.
