I disagree. I think the real culprits are the people who convinced a thirteen year old girl to do this.

It wouldn't be very hard to write a bad song and convince a 13 year old American girl to record it in hopes of "fame". I think you are being overly harsh of her - she's just a kid.

I think the "hate" should be directed at the person who wrote this song, the mother and the record company.

But hey - it achieved what they wanted. Everyone is talking about it and it is probably making a lot of money.
Hmmm?
I don't hate the girl at all, she seems typical, I hate the song. That includes her singing, but not her as a person. Is that not what we were talking about?

It really shouldn't come as a surprise to me that people may hate her personally, but the thought just never occurs to me.

if any of you TRULY didn't care... then you would give her the views.
This.... doesn't make sense.
What I'm saying is that if people really hated her song, they wouldn't listen to it. Or express their apparent undying hate toward it. They wouldn't give two shits about her; or her song. People just love to complain. It's really quite amusing.

In other words, it's a pop song with a good hook, and hooked you all are, because I bet every single person reading this remembers how the chorus goes regardless of when they last heard the song.
Except the people who couldn't even listen to the first 10 seconds of it.

I agree though, if you really don't like it you should ignore it. Shit doesn't go away if you tell everyone about it.

I guess that's true. But why would you willingly miss out? That'd be like listening to ICP's "Miracles" and stopping before you get to the magnet bit.

If I can't listen to the first 10 seconds then there is no point. Unless I read many posts saying it gets better later I'll just ignore it.

Edit: Listened to Miracles just now and I see what mean, pretty funny.

While it's reassuring that she didn't write that horrible song herself, it kinda raises a more important issue:

The REAL culprit behind those lyrics is still out there... Somewhere, right now, he/she is writing MORE useless bullshit-garbage that panders to not even the LOWEST of common denominators to be foisted onto new, unsuspecting "talent".

It's like if Batman was a songwriter, and it was his mission to fuck up our ears.
That sounds so much better to me with your Friendship is Magic avatar ;D

and OT: Meh. The song only got popular because it's bad. People who think otherwise don't understand the internet.

ugh, little *****. her mom is whoring her out to make herself money. she's a terrible singer. once you enter the music buisness, and you THINK your song is awesome. prepare for punishment for melting people brains. she deserves every ounce of criticism. even more.Oh no, people think my song sucks! CYBERBULLYING! MOMMY! SUE THE BAD MEAN PPLZ!11111shiftkeyshiftkey!1.don't post a shitty song on youtube or something and think you can become an instant star. It only worked for justing bieber because usher is using him to whore out money. Most musicians have to work hard to start a decent career.AND theres something called talant! Micheal jackson was only good, because he had talant as a kid. rebecca/ Mr.Hitler, no i mean, err, bieber, have none.
fuck the music industry.

She thinks she's being cyberbullied after she consented to uploading a video of herself singing to one of the largest open forums there is in the world? Can anyone say bullshit?

wait.. people still use something other than trillian or pidgin for instant messaging?
lol I've never even heard of them XD

But yes, Friday is unbelievable shit and I now hate the person that linked me to it. I feel sorry for the girl though -- she probably CAN sing, she may very well have something to say, but because of this song, her career, if she has one, will be constantly tied down to this over-produced garbage :/

Anyone know the really ugly kid that lip syncs on youtube? Where the hell is he in all this? I thought he'd be a "big star" by now.

I haven't heard this song (thankfully) but from what i've heard from my friends, I fucking hate her already.
I think he is...he had a popular rapper appear in his video and "sing" with him. Who? I don't recall, friend linked it to me and was surprised.

I don't get the comparison to Justin Bieber. His music, while boring, has at least a little merit. Her music is.. well, terrible. The lyrics are awful, the rythm is off, the singing doesn't match the music at times, the message is completely stupid, and she looks like she's mentally handicapped when she's on camera.

Look, it's sad that she didn't see this coming, but it's a terrible song. Whatever vocals she might have is drowned by the autotune hell machine, and if she can't see that those lyrics, 'specially the "today is friday, tomorrow is saturday, and sunday comes afterwa-a-a-a-ards", are completely fucking retarded, she's gonna have a tough time in the music industry.

I blame the people who made and produced the song, not her. She's 13, ffs. But, 13-year olds should not be trying to become celebrities, so in that regard I don't pity her.

They tried to rhyme bowl and cereal, for mercy's sake! CEREAL!

Which seat can I take?

This is exactly why we need to stop trying to convince people who have no talent whatsoever that they have some special place in the world, because then they end up doing something stupid like this.

A little undeserved compliment can go an awful long way.

And btw, I relish criticism as a filmmaker. If I ever become uwe bolls, I want someone to freakin' well tell me so I can stop, because film means more to me than a pay cheque, and if no one enjoys my films, there is no point.

A Record Label milks as much money as possible out a One-Hit-Wonder-Loli until the next warm body in line trumps up, whoopdedoo.
Stop getting so worked up about this month's Internet-Gimick guys.

but who cares? she sold an assload of singles. she is rich. be happy. its not gonna happen again.
I doubt she is ready to retire, she has no writing credits. Does anyone have figures?

I feel sorry for this girl, she has been exploited so that other people can make money. I want to know where the responsible adults were to advise her? If not against this then at least to make her aware of the pitfalls. People seem to forget she is only 13. I did all kinds of dumb shit long after I was 13. Sounds like the pushy parents are as much to blame as the record company.

If you put something in the public it is open to criticism. The personal comments, although they were always going to happen and she should have been made aware of them, were not needed. This is a 13 year old child we are talking about, probably with self esteem issues from all of the performing she does.
