my alarm clock, set to 'lost keys' by tool. a low whine turning high, wakes me up always. then i switch it off and go back to sleep usually.

Ten years ago there were hardly any of them (I don't know the exact numbers, but I don't think they were that endangered a species) but now that there have been all these efforts in my country to save the native wildlife (which is almost entirely birds) there are tonnes of them. People complain about them but I like it.

Also they are fantastic mimics, a few years ago the curators of a nearby bird sanctuary thought that monkeys from the zoo had broken out, but it was just a group of tuis that had spent a bit of time around the zoo.

And then there's stuff like this, which is just fucking scary.
I must have one!

Edit: I used to wake up to Disturbed, but then got an alarm clock...now I hear an ear-shattering beeping.
