1. Makes me want to play more games!!!!Frumpy Mom said:Satan did not invent video games.
Lord Voldemort did.
1. What better way to turn children away from good magic and into the dark side, than to put them in a darkened room for hours every day with a joystick and a big screen, where they practice killing things for fun?
He loves the deathly pallor of the video game addict, who has forgotten what daylight looks like. He loves the isolation you feel, because you need nothing but a video screen and a controller to feel content.
Soon, he plans to take advantage of this and become the controller, and then good luck trying to find Harry Potter to save you.
2. Video games are educational? Sorry, people, I do not believe for one second you are learning quantum physics while you are shooting down zombies.
To be fair to Jack Thompson (and I never thought I'd use those words) he goes after specific kinds of video games (usually the violent ones) and as far as I know has no problem with video games as a whole like this woman does. So yes, she has done the apparently impossible: She has made Jack Thompson look reasonable in comparison.WorldCritic said:I now hate her even more. Go die Female Jack Thompson.
or they have a brain deforamtion which can be caused by diesiese or a deformality at birth also to prove captain pancakes point i play games and i cant visualise things but im still doing distiction* classart work which requires a lot of self esteem as your told a general emotion and are told to panit a highly detailed picturefor part of t without self esteem its really easy to think its rubbish and totaly destroy it due to lows self esteem and due to the fact i cant visualise its even harder but i still did it it requires even more self esteem and to back his point up more theres 3 more people who are at distinction* in my class and they all play video games.Captain Pancake said:Point in defence of videogames:
Take this one scottish teenager, Benjamin P. Cassidy. He is an avid gamer, a veteran of popular series such as the elder scrolls, KotOR and Halo. He has been seriously gaming since the turn of the century, and continues it to this day. Now, take a quick look at his Standard Grade exam results (A scottish grading system with numerical values, ranging from a Credit 1 to a 7, failure)
English : 1
Maths : 1
Chemistry: 1
History : 1
Computing: 1
Music : 1
French : 2
Physics : 2
near perfect results, of which he managed to balance gaming and revision perfectly. Now, does this seem like a child who has been mentally stunted by the interactive medium of video games?
For more proof, take his friend Gregor Smith, who is arguably even more dedicated to video games:
English : 2
Maths : 1
Chemistry: 1
History : 1
Computing: 1
Music : 1
French : 1
Physics : 1
As you can see, even better results. If you take this trend as Canon, it would be evident that the exact opposite is true: videogaming can enhance the mental abilities of children.
Of course, these two are ideal cases. The fact of the matter is, there is no link between intelligence and videogames. Some kids are simply stupid of their own accord, and it is a mere coincidence that they share the same hobby.
Well, if you're gonna try and out-history me, in the Dark Ages, after the break up the Roman Empire, when most knowledge was lost, people went back to believing the earth was flat. It may have been a bad way of putting it, but never, ever try to outdo me on history. Unless you have a Masters in it, or teach it.Flos said:Guys, being immature jerks makes her look better.
The Earth was known to be round far before the middle ages. Hell, the Greeks figured out the exact diameter in something like 237B.C.E. The only real question was what exactly existed within it.Shruikine said:Common consensus these days is that videogames are bad for kids. However, in the middle ages, common consensus around the world was that the earth was flat.
Case closed.
It's also not really common consensus that video games are necessarily bad, but whatev.
