"Frumpy Mom" Responds To Attacks

I quite agree with her, speaking as a Christian and a non drinking right thinking member of my local church action group I think that computer games are warping the minds of our youth. Those that make them are spreading the evil of a non christian message through these "children's" games.
My seven year old daughter asked for me to buy her modern Warfare 2 and as I heard it featured ponies from the turbaned ruffian who served in the store I purchased it. I was slightly disgusted by it's violent content. Having never heard anything negative about this game as they never mentioned it on the bible channel.
Knowing that Coffee is a great source of anti oxydant's I was pleased to learn that this beverage was available to those who played computer games. But as coffee is only good in small amounts I was glad that this was a "mod" amount.
In short this game culture is making our children violent malcontent's with short attention spans, why can't they involve them selves in things with real substance like days of our lives or studying genesis? Personally I thought they with better when Peter Gabriel was with them.

You know, I've decided that all we can do is ignore these people unless they complicate our lives in whatever way. If this lady wants to go after video games let her go at it. Michael Thompson, a lawyer, couldn't do much to harm video games so this 'frumpy middle-aged housewife' or whatever she called herself shouldn't be able to do jack-squat.
It's people like, say, Michael Atkinson that we as a gaming community should try to do something about; if there is something to do that could genuinely help instead of murmuring hate about the man on internet forums I'm not sure, but pulling our hair out over this lady isn't worth it. Watch, I bet she's a huge closeted GTA fan who makes herself feel better by insulting those who aren't. (Well, probably not, but it's fun to think.) ^_^

"Ma'am, your way of thinking is unjustified in my opinion. With the exponential growth of technology, and further globalization, people would be stupid not to play video games. For these reasons:
1. The ability to talk to people from around the globe allows cultural diffusion to occur at a faster rate. Taking into account that I was just discusing the E.U. with a guy from Norway, it's safe to say that we (Video game players) have more of a real world perpective than those who do not play video games.
2.Video games are a great stress relief, the game "Gears of War 2" is my "painkiller" if you will. Rather than personifying the urge of hatred or other volital emotions that people my age go through regularly, or instead of medicating it. I can control all of this through some button pushing.
3. Have you seen a modern video game recently? Most of them have soundtracks that sell huge to their audiences (my musical favorite being the Halo 3 OST [offical sound track]) which introduce new genres of music to the world. For example, the Halo 3:OST mixes Celtic/Irish jigs with synth[synthetic, thus electronic] music to make something brand new. If you review the music they make, you can clearly see many aspects of it. Some of the music is both very emotional and very deep in harmony. (May I suggest listening to "Never forget" and "Deference for Darkness"? They have some very solemm piano parts.) Secondly, Most story lines of video games are more than senseless violence. Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 shows modern terrorism in America, Assassins creed 2 bases a sci-fi plot with alternative ancient history, and the Halo series has a "epic" storyline (in the old sense of the word.) with betrayal, extenction, genocide, desperation, religious fanaticism.
Please, do look up and see that this isn't totally bad. Also, excuse my grammer."

I really just hope that everyone here at the escapist can see this woman for what she is; A TROLL. There are people in the world who say ignorant things about the gaming community purely because of how ignorant they are(I'm looking at you Mr. Atkinson). I do not however believe this is the case with this woman. She is obviously looking for attention and hoping like hell that people like us prove her point for her. We know that she is wrong, as will most people who read her drivel. I only pray that us Escapists will not participate in this foolish flame war, but instead take the higher ground and ignore her. The more extreme she is in her rants, the less credit she will have. Ignore this bomb, and it will eventually diffuse itself.

I fucking hate people who say this. I play video games a lot. I produce a few reviews every now and then to keep my writing skills up (and the odd novel) because I also enjoy this. But this woman would argue that because I play games I'm therefore a mindless zombie. I'm a striaght student and regularly appear in plays. Hows that for underachieveing, low self-esteem.
