As to playing into his hands.... yes, he is a troll. If you are blaming those that point out that what he is saying terrible, that's a you problem. If he corrects himself after the event, and I commented straight after the event but before this 'retraction' then my comment is true BEFORE the retraction.
So, just to note, he is a troll... His RETRACTION is meant to troll you too. All of it is trolling. You thinking this way plays right into his hands. He wants people to think that the left is being mean when clearly he deliberately overstepped the mark.
If you are swayed by people 'being mean' to Knowles, you're deliberately taking things out of context. You know that they are criticizing something that deserves to be criticized

He says something outrageous so you can say something that is still racist/ homophobic/ transpobic etc but not as outrageous... so it seems more acceptable. You 'correcting' is PART OF THE PLAN.

This whole game is trying to make racist etc remarks acceptable. The whole premise of the first amendment is 'shine a light' on bad arguments. These trolls know this and have worked out a counter to getting a light shone on them. This has been their tactic since 2012. They WANT you to say what you said above. Because they trolled you and you took the bait

Even though April's race has been changed before in the last cartoon, and she was turned white in most other adaptions. When in the original comics she's a biracial female. No, you didn't. His speech was on Saturday, media outlets covered it the same day, and by Saturday night he was demanding retractions on Twitter. By Monday morning, those retractions had happened. And in his show on Monday, which is syndicated on the talk radio in my area exactly during my commute home, he was talking about how the headlines had been all or mostly changed. You commented monday night. All these things have timestamps.
I just told you that. I did not pretend he was being reasonable, though my problem is not so much with the content of his claims but with the tactics he uses to spread them. Me telling you that it was planned isn't part of the plan, I'm not intended to throw him under the bus in his mind.

BTW, April is part alien in the TMNT 2012 cartoon series. I did not make that up. I had long stop watching before that point though. It was really dumb plot twist.
I don't know. I think that reveal happened during the midway or end of season 3. I stopped watching by season 2. It didn't help that the original writer left after the first season, because Nickelodeon couldn't stop interfering where they didn't belong and kept making changes for the sake of selling toys. It really shows in the later seasons. Negating Karai's eyes he'll face turn for the sake of transforming her into a snake mutant for a whole season, just to sell some toys, really grinds my gears and is a show of bad storytelling and bad faith in the viewers.

Certainly not all-- some (like Rolling Stone) have had the honesty to leave it up and call out the absurdity of the distinction he's trying to retroactively draw.
Of course, i don't think he was calling for killings. But that's not what "eradication of trans people" means in those headline, and he knows it. It refers to legal efforts to force them out of public life, coerce them to deny their identity or stay repressed, and deny then medical access.
Of course, this is CPAC. If he had called for killings, there'd have been more than a couple of cheers.
