I think we need to listen less to old people who have failed to keep up with the times. Sure, they have wisdom to impart as well, but in many cases they're just people stuck in the mindset that what worked for them in 1973 is still the best way to do things in 2023, as if nothing's moved on.

fighting to protect people and their rights, and fighting to attack people and deprive them of their rights are pretty different. It’s only logical to treat them as such.
What if I told you that neither group is doing either of those things, and both are trying to capitalize on wedge issues to advance their political influence? Would you believe that people who like swastikas don't actually care about LGBT things in schools, but see them as an opportunity to garner support for their cause? Or that the people who seem to conveniently discover global communism as the solution to all problems have no particular connection to the children in those schools?

Since the right to protest or otherwise speak your mind is fundamental and paramount I tend to see protests from the point of view of idealism, so it kind of breaks my heart to hear people go on tours of protests to maximize the calculated impact of their speech instead of engaging in honest conversation until they convince people. It's a such cynical outlook when compared to the ideal of letting people know your position and convince you of it. Then I remember that that's the tactics the civil right movement did against segregation so I've just accepted that my ideal is just an ideal and actual change seldom or never is carried by them alone.
I would believe that they care about LGBT issues. Not their main issue, but yes. The Nordic Resistance Movement's (self described national socialists) formulation is that they have no issue with what consenting adults do in their homes but take umbrage at public displays of homophilia or other activities that seeks to normalize or exalt unnatural phenomena, and that a healthy and functioning family is obviously formed by a man and a woman. So yes, straight from the horse's mouth: they care about that stuff.
