That article is dumb partisanship itself, but it gets close to what I've been telling people for months: Democratic rhetoric about the pandemic is making it worse and discouraging people from doing the right thing. Where the article goes off the rails is acting like it's some deliberate conspiracy to kill people off, cause that's just a silly thing to accuse people of. It's one of those incompetence rather than malice situations. By being jerks about the vaccine, they unintentionally discourage everyone who dislikes them from getting vaccinated, and then because they believe themselves responsible for only their side, they don't recognize that they're causing the problem.

Like, if a product is associated with an unsavory celebrity, people who resent that celebrity avoid it, right? A vaccine is no different. When Trump was trying to take ownership of the vaccination efforts, the left was hesitant. Now that Democrats have decided that they're the vaccination party, they are chasing people away from vaccinations by association, and the more the parties split on the issue, the more they're being jerks about it, which only further encourages people to not get shots out of spite. And still they think themselves righteous because they're advocating for vaccines, not recognizing their abject, counterproductive incompetence.
Hey, all the more sorryantivaxxer.com and Herman Cain Award entries to read through 🤷‍♂️

And after all this, all the more to pin on the people in positions of influence and power that are fanning the flames of doubt in these people's heads.

What the hell happened to "facts don't care about your feelings"? Now it's "Waaaaah, you made us feel bad so now we won't do what we know we're supposed to!".
Are you under the impression that every single human being right of center is Ben Shapiro?

You're right, of course. Let's change tact then. Why don't you believe these conservatives have personal responsibility for their wellbeing? Surely it isn't the entire nation's responsibility to act as their nanny. If they're too lazy and obstinate to help themselves even a little bit, well that's their own fault.

I'm under the impression that those merely being right of the center wouldn't have ended up with the lunatic brigade. To end up there you need too have a little Ben Shapiro in you.

In general most people outside of America would agree that the Republicans are nowhere near the center these days. To us its the Democrats who are right of the center, and the Republicans only barely out of the far right at best.

That is true, and I will not dispute that, but it's not a useful perspective from which to address public policy. I appreciate "people are responsible for their own well being" is a solidly conservative talking point, but that's not realistically how we run the government. On an individual level, an unvaccinated person dying of covid has nobody to blame but themselves, but from a top down perspective, the question should not be "how do we make it so people can't blame us for their problems", but rather "how do we reach the best outcome". So like, if you mandate vaccines and people still don't get vaccinated, you can certainly say they can't blame you, but if you know that mandating them is going to cause a boomerang effect where people rebel against the mandate on principle, then you probably shouldn't do that because it doesn't lead to the best outcome.

I don't think you know a thing about Ben Shapiro. I'm not going to defend him in general as I have many disagreements with the man, but I at least understand him. He's been personally pushing the vaccine longer than the Democrats have.

Most people outside (and frankly inside) of America on the internet are ridiculously ignorant of the realities of both America and their own countries. The truthiness claim that America is way further right than everywhere else despite being further left on literally everything but healthcare (and sometimes labor laws in specific European countries) can go die in a ditch.

The evil Howard Stern strikes again

Based on what I know about Howard Stern, which is admittedly only a little, I wouldn’t call him a leftist. Don’t know if I’d call him a conservative either. I’d absolutely call him a cheeky fucker.

Howard Stern is a libertarian and I believe he's quite upfront that he mostly voted Republican in his lifetime.

He did however totally reject Trump. And to the Trump faithful, if you don't back Trump, you're a goddamn pinko.

Their choice of name "Epik" could not have tempted fate more than it already has.

The hacking collective Anonymous has released what it claims to be new data from the controversial web hosting company Epik.

In a press release on Tuesday, the hacktivist group announced what it has dubbed as “The /b/ Sides.” or part two of “Operation EPIK FAIL.”

Anonymous took credit earlier this month for breaching Epik, known for hosting far-right websites such as Gab, Parler, and TheDonald, before releasing an 180GB cache of the domain registrar’s data. The hack affected more than 15 million people and exposed names, physical addresses, passwords, credit card numbers, emails, and more.

Now, the hacktivist collective says it has leaked “several bootable disk images of assorted systems” in a roughly 70GB torrent file.

“[Y]ou didn’t think we completely dominated Epik and merely ran off with some databases and a system folder or two, did you?” the press release states. “We are Anonymous. Flexing as hard as we can is how we do a barrel roll (Press Z or R twice!).”

WhiskeyNeon, a Texas-based hacker and cybersecurity expert who reviewed the file structure of the leak, told the Daily Dot how the disk images represented Epik’s entire server infrastructure.

“Files are one thing, but a virtual machine disk image allows you to boot up the company’s entire server on your own,” he said. “We usually see breaches with database dumps, documents, configuration files, etc. In this case, we are talking about the entire server image, with all the programs and files required to host the application it is serving.”

The data includes API keys and plaintext login credentials for not only Epik’s system but for Coinbase, PayPal, and the company’s Twitter account.

Following the first leak, Epik initially denied it was aware of any breach before later conceding that it was looking into “an alleged security incident.”

Epik CEO Rob Monster, who did not respond to requests for comment from the Daily Dot, would go on to hold a more than four hour long live video conference online to address the initial hack. The meeting would see Monster break out into prayer numerous times, make attempts to vanquish demons, and warn viewers that their hard drives could burst into flames due to “curses” placed on the hacked data.

Monster admitted during the call that an unknown individual had attempted to steal $100,000 after getting ahold of his Coinbase API key.

The leak would uncover everything from right-wing domains targeted with subpoenas and attempts by conservative Ali Alexander to hide his ties to election fraud conspiracy websites in the wake of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

The second leak of Epik data comes just days after the Oath Keepers militia, a group who began using Epik’s services in January, was allegedly hacked as well. The paramilitary group’s emails, internal chats and data on members and donors, including those who work for the U.S. government and military, would be exposed as a result.
With a bit of bonus footage from the CEO of Epik, I think we can all start to see where those weaknesses in their security are most likely stemming from...

If you not for Trump, you're not a pinko. You're a baby murdering sex trafficing blood scarficing occultist

And they've been thinking that about lefties, centrist and some conservatives since the 1980s.

Of course, they wouldn't be for vaccines. We're demonically evil. Pretending that all you have to do is be NICE would lead to more vaccinations would be ridiculous. A lot of the Trump administration tried to be nice. They were even nominally on their side. But being nice or nasty doesn't matter. They decided early on that it was evil

How many Dems said they were taking the vaccine because it was 'made by Trump'?

I wasn't willing to take the vaccine early because I thought Trump was rushing it. I waited six months because of this. Does that make me naught like these Dems?

(To me, it probably wouldn't have mattered who was in office, I would have waited. To be fair, if it was Obama or something pushing the vaccine through, I might have only waited 6 mths instead of 9. Because, dispite how much I don't like Obama, I'd trust him over Trump.)

And the instant you fall out of lockstep, be prepared to be condemned as such. Just ask Mike Pence, who became a child-molesting communist the moment he didn't crush democracy and declare Trump to be El Presidente for Life.

And reproductive rights.
And marriage equality.
And not letting food manufacturers poison people because regulating what food companies can feed you is tyranny or some shit.
And that's just shit you guys are further right than IRELAND on. The country that barely managed to legalise divorce in the fucking 90's by less than 1% of the vote.

When Trump was trying to take ownership of the vaccination efforts,
Well, not exactly.

What people were worried about was an unpopular president in election year trying to push out a vaccine approval before trials were complete in order to claim a big win in time for the vote. And given all the other shit Trump did - all the way up to phoning state representatives to pressure them into overturning the democratic vote and setting a mob on Congress - this was not outside the boundaries of plausibility.

No, it makes you like the regular Republicans not getting vaccinated right now. Imagine you waited on a vaccine that you thought was rushed and you didn't trust the source, exactly what you did in reality. Then imagine that while you were still unvaccinated, Donald Trump made a mandate that you have to vaccinated or you lose your job (I understand you aren't in America, just roll with the imaginary situation please). Would Trump mandating the vaccine he's pushing at you make you more or less hesitant to get vaccinated?

This is the sort of thing policy makers should be thinking about when they make policies. Not what lets them say "we did the right thing, nobody can blame us", but the thing that actual gets the public response they should want.

Lol.

Most countries in Europe restrict abortion to only medical reasons at the second trimester. Without explicit reasons for concern for the health of the mother or over likely birth defects, you're not getting an abortion past 12 weeks. Leave Europe, there's a decent chance abortion is just banned.
The US as a whole had legal gay marriage before a ton of places. Before Germany. Before Australia. Japan still doesn't. Greece has civil unions yet. If you break it down to the state level, the US was one of the places leading the way on the issue.
The US has fine food standards. Keep your naturalistic fallacy away from my Hot Pockets.

And also, maybe just learn about things before commenting. The US is more socially liberal than all but a small handful of much smaller nations on the entire planet, and some states individually are beyond even those. There's some reasonable debate to make on economic issues, but you picked the arena where you are explicitly wrong.
