Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me ... you can't get fooled again.
Yes, but we're talking about a guy who released crypto memecoin and then a crypto company ("World Liberty FInancial") after election and opened the doors wide open to crypto trading.

Apart from the billions in assets that these crypto ventures have (Trump's paper wealth has more than doubled in the past year), because there are all sorts of other ways that they can scoop money out the system, Trump and family are estimated to have pocketed as much as half a billion as well. This company has also concluded major deals with Middle Eastern petrostates, who shortly after were cut generous deals for things like computer chip access by the US government.

This is it, really. Trump has breached the separation of personal gain and government business hugely and openly. Corruption so vast and so brazen, with no meaningful pushback whatsoever, it's hard to know how the USA can come back from it.

No. And if it weren't for the way the US loves exporting itself, I'm not sure it should.

Eric Adams has departed the NY mayoral race. So sad.

After being put up on corruption charges by the Biden administration, Adams was let off by the Trump administration as long as he did what the Trump administration ordered him to. Ditched by the Democratic Party as candidate, he ran as an independent and funnily enough, nobody likes him.

That leaves three runners: Democratic Party candidate and plausible lefty Zohran Mamdani, Republican Party candidate and no-hoper Curtis Silwa, and geriatric sex pest Andrew Cuomo, who is running as an independent after losing to Mamdani to be the Democratic representative. Mamdani is way ahead in the polls.

All that remains now is for the billionaire class and the Democratic establishment to persuade the Republican candiate, Curtis Sliwa, to give up his campaign and endorse Cuomo so that anyone has a hope of defeating Mamdani.

The fact that you can see them lose and still think he's a coup doing rapist is all the evidence you need if their power. They sold you on those things.
Here I thought a court adjudicating him as liable for sexual abuse of a sort the judge said would fall under the colloquial definition of rape, even if not the NY penal code definition was what did that. I mean, of course supported by the laundry list of other women who have accused him.

As for the coup, I assume you believe it was a guided tour turned bad by the GOP-run FBI operating under a Trump appointee, thus proving it was a liberal fabrication? Or some similar BS? Simple question: How was the fake electors plot ever even hypothetically supposed to work if nothing significant happened to disrupt normal procedure on Jan 6?

Might be about the shutdown, like "You have to tell everyone that your not getting your paycheck because of evil democrat".
Which would be funny, because military is an exception to these kind of budget fight shutdowns that the GOP is so famous for doing, and are now vilifying Dems for playing the same game.

It's just the Republican dream world, after all: Legal slavery, no women's suffrage, no term limits on the Presidency....
More precisely, it's the Constitution as it was on December 15, 1791. Just the original document + Bill of Rights. They didn't carefully pick and choose to omit the end of slavery, women's suffrage, term limits, etc they just wholesale removed everything after the Bill of Rights.

on their little Twitter lookalike site.
For all the awful things about it, Truth Social is one of the slicker Mastodon instances, even if it's loath to admit that's what it is under the hood.

Didn't expect this from the world of sports, certainly not soccer, but it's nice to see even germans hating Wilders' guts.

I think the laundry list is more the issue. One accusation of sexual assault, take or leave it. Three accusations or so, that's not looking good. Ten or twenty... yeah, that person is doing something shady, and very likely at least some of it has reached the level of criminality.

It's hard to feel that it was a monstrous injustice because of that laundry list of accusations, and his own confessions. Who really thinks he hasn't assaulted women? And so even one woman finally got a charge to stick. Simply as representative of all the women he's almost certainly non-consensually groped (or worse), he richly deserved to have been adjucated a sex attacker from at least one of those many situations.

The QAnon Shaman (less well-known as Jacob Chansley) has declared himself the rightful President of the United States, and has launched a $10 trillion (yes, trillion) lawsuit against Trump, which also names Israel, T-Mobile and Warner Bros.

He also wants to mint a one-ounce gold coin with a value of $40 trillion to pay off the national debt. Shine on, you crazy diamond.

Uh excuse you, he's suing for $40 trillion dollars. He'd probably consider your error defamation.

He'll need an $80 trillion gold coin, because if he sues Trump for $40 trillion and wins, Trump will write himself a $40 trillion cheque from the US government, thereby adding $40 trillion to the national debt.

Why does it need to be a gold coin?
It's actually funny if my theory is right based on normal sovcit behavior (and he borders on it), because it's inconsistent with that (I think). There is a common held belief in the kooky conspiracy world that fiat currency is fake in a literal sense, and that the only valid currency is that based on gold. So making it a gold coin is to signify that it's backed up by gold and thus 'legitimate'. Of course, unless there is actually $40 trillion worth of gold in US control, it'd still be fiat currency.

Ah, that makes sense.

A $40 trillion dollar coin based on gold value would be quite a sight. Something in the region of 8 megatons, or 400 thousand cubic metres if my maths is correct.

Such a nice change pf phase from the sport scene to oppose the far right rather than join him. Kinda takes the wind out of the sail of the argument that the facists protestors at the Hague were ''just wacky football hooligans''

I hope it stings for him that he's been to jail for an attempt to overthrow the government on behalf of a rapist who's friends with Epstein. Seems like a gigantic waste of his time to sacrifice so much for someone you turn out not to like.

I mean, his lawsuit also alleges that the NSA "catfished" him as Michele Rodriguez to try to get him to use his shamanic powers for "other-worldly matters", so you might be ascribing to him more lucidity than he possesses.

<sigh>

Because people who don't get economics are completely fucking weird about gold. Whether it's crank economists eulogising about the gold standard, or quasi-prepper types who think owning a shit-ton of gold is somehow going to leave them top of the heap if the country/world collapses.

Ah, ok, that...sorta...makes sense.
