It's not the sexual fetish that pisses me off. It's the raging victim complex prevalent in almost every single furry I've ever spoken to. This thread is exhibit fucking A.
Here's my basic thoughts on it, in the form of someone else's comic.
While my views aren't as extreme as the comic, I can get behind the gist of it. I rarely see internet groups scream PERSECUTION as much as furries. I don't like to generalize, but it's hard not to when almost every furry post I see on boards is that of "we are misunderstood why do you hate us". If you have a sexual fetish, keep it to yourself and people won't ostracize you for it. Simply keep to yourselves. I don't have an avatar showing what gets me off. Most people don't. As I've said before, furries intentionally make themselves stand out in an arguably negative fashion then get upset when people "don't understand them". I know plenty of gay people who blend in. They may like men, but they don't flaunt it. They wouldn't walk around in a dress, they don't talk like a stereotypical teenage girl, they don't make their Facebook or internet avatars men in underwear, and they don't take every opportunity to say "I'm gay". They live normal lives, and don't feel the need to stand out solely on the basis of being different. Furries always put themselves out there, defining themselves by part of their sex life, something that should be private. To be so open about it brings criticism, and if they want to be so open they need to accept that.
I don't mind the cat ears and shit even if I do find it weird, but when the object of your lust is 5 hairs away from being full on bestiality, I fully reserve the right to judge you and make gagging noises behind your back.
Well, I suppose it's because when I look at pictures of sexual, anthropomorphic creatures, I get creeped the hell out. Ergo, the idea of people getting off to that stuff also creeps me the hell out. Pretty simple.
PREEMPTIVE EDIT: And if you're wondering, "But Frozen Donkey Wheel2, if you aren't a furry, then when did you find time to look at pictures of sexual, anthropomorphic creatures?" I would reply, "I guess you didn't see the last thread someone made about furries.

I know all 'furries' are different but this I why I hate the typical stereotype though if individuals want to argue this I'd like to know another opinion.I always thought of it as another way of exploiting animals. I've always hated it when people dress their dogs in human clothes so why should dressing as animals with an underlying sexual aim be any different? It's worse if anything.

Exactly! They make it a significant part of who they are. That shits me off. I've been close friends with a gay guy for 9 and a half years. He doesn't go prancing around like a stereotypical 'poof'.
Again: It's not the fetish I dislike, it's the fetishists.

Huh. You know, up until..uh..."?" Head....showed up, I actually thought this comic was defending furries. After finishing it, I am more confident in my anti-furry position then ever.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and one more thing...Did I or did I not FUCKING CALL IT?(Uh...Just scroll down to the 45th response)
It's also not 100% sex based, some people just like the dressing up, the anomynosity (spelt wrong?) of being in an outfit and being able to have fun
I know some people who are part of it, but don't try to force it on others, but then again, I also know some people in it who try to force it on others.
I have no problem with them overall though.

Wow, presumptuous much? Because, you know, there's no way anyone could have a legitimate reason for hating them....(Just scroll up a bit, take a look at a certain comic someone else posted.)

Well we all have our kinks it's just who we are if gay men like looking at men who are we to criticize? It's like John Lennon said"Whatever gets you through the night."
...Well isn't it,isn't it your fault for going to a furry thread and looking at the images?I mean if I don't wanna see something I just get away from the image.
Probably because they make it a big part of their lives. I'm so heavily into the S&M scene that it's started to pay my bills, and I get a lot of shit for it too. Granted, now that I think about it, that may also be because people who aren't aware of the actual situation probably think I'm an abusive boyfriend... So yeah, I still think that's probably the reason, but can no longer draw parallels.
dress up furries, i don't see a problem with. non dress up furries, odd, but they have a right to draw. people who fuck animals, need therapy.....or death.
Because people always needs something to look down on, so they can feel superior... What sad, sad humans >.>
(I'm a lolicon, I often gets called shit like a pedo, or sick fuck... But seriously. Just because I'm a lolicon, doesn't mean I go out every night and rape children.... Haters need to grow up -_-'')
As a person in a stable yet not committed relationship with someone who has the need to role-play from time to time (***** be crazy what can I say?) and someone who has slept with both sexes and the elusive (and awesome) third (you know what i'm talking about). I personally find nearly nothing offensive any-more.
I regularly trawl ED (encyclopaedia dramatica) which is just a another version of /b/, and laugh at nearly everything they do. I also know several furries and have been to most of the conventions they have in Australia.
All in all i have to agree with both sides of the argument, furries catch alot of crap for no reason, but at the same time certain members of the demographic encourage such behaviour.
1. It is semibeastiality.
2. It is a fantasy fetish so it can never really go any further than masturbation or fursuits, which are very creepy.
3. The fetishists tend to be stereotyped as asberger's who dwell in their parents basements, wasting time fixated on something that will never be reality.
4. Furries tend to have plenty of other issues added to the mix.
5. Furry "art" often depicts underaged characters.

Perhaps. But then, try posting furry into Google and see what comes up. Here, I'll do it for you. This one was one of the top image hits (I edited out the nipples, still a bit NSFW).
When people not only enjoy this imagery, but define themselves by it, what is there to think? It goes beyond people in animal suits, which as far as fantasy play goes isn't that bad. It's the pure sexualization of animals.
