I hadn't watched Futurama for an age before the new series, but from what I can tell there's no real change.

Personally I think a show's better if it can be funny but hit upon topical issues at the same time. Why do you think South Park's so popular?

Well, I can't really say its for the worst. But the show has always had lots of subtextual "preaching." Nixon, for example.

I can't give you any feedback on the new episodes because they're not out in england yet :( :(
I've got one question though have they changed the voice actors?
You do know that downloading/streaming episodes of television shows is, for all intents and purposes, legal, right?

And apart from phil hartman being dead (zap branagan), same actors.
He was dead before the show even began. Zapp is voiced by Billy West.
Edit: Half Ninjaed. I don't care.
EDIT EDIT: Ok he WAS going to be voiced by Hartman, but wasn't due to his death before shooting began.

Another great Video guys.

I don't really play horror games, but I love the idea of a game that can truly scare someone , but only by using the players own mind. ( If that makes any sense ^^; )
WHUH?!? I think you posted in the wrong thread.

I've definitely noticed a change, but I don't think it really detracts from the show. The first episode of the new season has some of my favorite lines from any season of the show.

Fry-"But Professor, isn't stem cell research controversial?"
Professor-"In your time, yes, but now, SHUT UP"

and

Professor-"She's in a coma"
Bender-"Coma-coma-coma-coma-coma-chameleon"

So I'm not complaining.

I saw the first few new episodes on the internet since they arent showing it in England except during late night time. I think it's pretty good. I think there may be some nostalgia happening. We would probably find issues if a second series of Firefly came out.

I haven't seen the new season. I assume because I live in England. But from what I just read in your spoiler box then. they all sound pretty good with the exception of the gay marriage one. I don't like stories that fuck to heavily with continuity. And making two characters gay just to make a point and then change them back at the end seems pointless to me. And Ami is going out with an Alien any way. Surely that is more controversial than gay people getting married?
it's about robot-human marriage

i only realised two weeks ago that futurama was back and watched all the new episodes in a row
after that i thought "so thats what church is like"
still very funny and i am a sucker for good apple-bashing

I noticed it too and I don't like this season as much as the last ones. I don't really find it funny anymore. Still I have seasons 1-4 sitting around so I could use those to give me the closure I need.

I like the new episodes. And I haven't found them to be too preachy. But then, that's probably because I don't have a problem with the messages or something.

I dont think its anything to worry about. I think theyre just enjoying their freedom right now. with the restrictions lifted, they can do so much now that they couldnt do before, and I think now theyre just trying things out, trying to find where the line is, enjoying the fact that they can now do a lot that they couldnt before. Give it a bit and I think theyll settle back into their usual pace. Itll be a little different of course, but I think the "preaching" will disappear soon.

I agree that they have taken many of the episodes to convey some kind of relevant message - they have seen the success off south park with that kind of idea and are trying to see if it will work for them.

I enjoyed every episode of the new season except the first one and the cat one. The show may have changed tone but it still knows how to appeal to me.

I've loved the new episodes, but they are getting dangerously close to becoming a soapbox for the creators political views, just like Family Guy did.
I'm pretty sure South Park has the soapbox thing covered... and it hasn't hurt their popularity any.
Yeah but the shows always been a soap box, it makes fun of society, its always been like that, sure some more than others but thats the foundation the show was built on, And i personally love south park, newer stuff is meh hahaha funny but the older stuff is gold

I don't know if my sence of humor is gone on holiday and didn't leave a note of absence to me these last few years, or there is something drastically changing in the way some things like this are preseved as being funny these days. I don't know, but this show used to make me laugh when I was younger, but now I think it's just as stale and predictable as can be.

Yeah.... Something hasn't felt right. It feels like they're going for the cheap laugh, which I LOVE, (For example, from my favorite episode, I give you Citizen Snips:

), but the new season isn't as... hilarious

Eh, overall, I don't think the show is quite as funny. I haven't been keeping up with the new episodes very well because I just don't care all that much. I agree that some of the episodes have felt a little preachier than previous seasons. Sometimes limitations and constraints can actually make something better, maybe we're seeing that now with Futurama. With fewer restrictions, maybe the writers are getting too cocky and overstepping that comedic gold zone Futurama usually stays in.

Although the ep where Bender caught a virus was great.

I don't mind politics or controversial issues in TV shows, but what I would like to see is the whole thing done with more subtlety and finesse. The older episodes seemed to be more like this, but a lot of the new ones so far have just sort of sent out an obvious, narrow message, instead of an intelligent one that can be interpreted in different ways. I mean, sure, I agree with what they are saying most of the time, but it still bothers me when the message is so singular, it doesn't make you think. I especially don't like it when it uses the same recycled arguments and turns them into jokes, or bases an entire episode on them, it's like they using the show just for the purpose of expressing their political views.

Is it just me, or do the episodes seem shorter? Anyway, It has changed, but its not that bad, it feels like season 1 again, just a little preachier...
