Yikes. This might be the most scathing take on FF7 Remake I’ve seen yet. PC Gamer has had a few bugs up its ass lately though with anything that starts out being only available on console. Elden Ring beta and Matrix demo were prior examples of them having a somewhat resentful tone in their commentaries.

Well at least they are getting proper games instead a bunch of porn indie games and an ip developed by a GOP donator.

Fyi, retired here means the game was dropped/abandoned without beating it.
Garuntee I can pinpoint the exact moment most of players dropped out of Oddworld Soulstorm too. A certain defense mission has a particular reputation by now for ppl rage deleting the game, and tbh am currently trying to resist doing the same. It's a total bastard.

@Chimpzy Well looks like you are right. I regret to inform everyone that the PC port is not great.
I played it for about an hour last night. And while it ran mostly fine for me there were a few odd graphical oddities that are hard to explain like little bursts of rainbos light for no reason in random spots on the screen. And there was definitely suttering when transitioning from cut scene to gameplay. I don't know why this is the case, my RTX 2080 is far more powerful than anything in the PS5 so I don't understand what is causing this.

However when it comes to combat and gameplay itself, that at least runs perfectly fine for me. Nothing out of the ordinary there. However the smoothness of the experience between cut scenes (even in-engine ones) back to gameplay is really jarring considering how fucking flawlessly smooth the experience is on BOTH Ps4 and Ps5 version of the game.

While it is regretable, hopfully it can be patched and fixed, I still feel like this is a fantastic game to play on PC if you don't have the ability to play on a Playstation.

Do you have SSD? Sounds like optimization with loading game data might be an issue on PC hardware, given that’s one plus the new consoles generally have over most setups. It’s one thing that will continue to bother me more as time goes on, especially after God of War and even RDR2 considering its size have set stellar examples melding cinematics and gameplay.

Really wondering how the GoW port will turn out, as this aspect should be a non-issue considering the hardware it was designed on is ancient now by PC standards.

The Ps4 version doesn't have this stutter, and that doesn't have an SSD in it. So even if I had an HDD (i dont I do have a 1tb SSD) there should not be any stuttering considering I gave 3x the ram that a console has available.

Why is Oddworld so high on the list?

Lies! Lies I tell you! Liiieeess--

Nevermind.
Honestly though, Back 4 Blood and The Medium should be higher on the list

I've noticed they've been having a bug up their ass since the mid 2010s. I really don't care nor like them much either.

And they expected people to pay $70+ dollars for this? Once again, Square Enix can fuck off. Sorry you didn't get the exact port you wanted, but this turn of events does not surprise me.

I don't really understand this person's review to be honest. It does come off like they have a bug up their ass about something, so simply don't like jrpg's anymore. I mean to claim that the characters are unlikable, and that the combat is boring is fucking silly. Like even with my personal bias' aside, claiming the combat is boring is just fucking wrong. Though I will admit the hallway thing and the padding thing, it is what it is.

This is feels angry for no real reason.

I hadn't looked into it yet, but I am not surprised. I watched some of the video you posted and could help notice the guy mentioning the game has Denuvo. It's just conjecture, but I wonder if that's the culprit for the performance problems, and that the stuttering is not present in cracked versions of the game (meaning the guy might be right when says pirates get the better experience). Wouldn't be the first time. See also the pc port of Resi Evil 8, which also had Denuvo and had problems, which weren't in pirated copies, and magically disappeared when Capcom released a patch to fix them which coincidentally also removed Denuvo.

For the record, I'm not particularly happy about being right.

PC ports for a long time have had bad issues with anti-piracy software which only fucks up the game for legit paying customers. Only then to have the game cracked in a day or so anyway and the pirated version of the game runs way better than a legit copy because the Denevo or whatever the fuck ruins the way the game works. It's such a scummy practice for no fucking reason, because it forces people to pirate the game in order to get it to run correctly. That should NEVER happen.

Already there are mods that improve performance and maybe later it'll get the DEnuveo patched out and everything will be fine.

I have a feeling that is what the issue is, because the performance hiccups make no sense. So it feels like they ported the game and slapped piracy software into the code and called it good.

Ironically this is one of the reasons why I've gradually become more and more of a console exclusive player because the PS5 is basically so fast and easy to use there is almost NO reason for me to play a game on PC over Ps5. Especially since I'm not much of a modder......except forementioned mods I am using in FF7 already (tips fedora).

Haven't played any of them but based on what I've heard about the ending of 12 minutes I think I can hazard a guess why it's so high on the drop list.....probably everyone else heard about the ending as well.

And for those who don't know what I'm talking about SPOILERS

It's all a dream of some sort, the cop harassing you is your dad and your wife is actually your sister, or something very close to that. I might be getting the details wrong but it's still pretty fucking icky regardless and a lot of people apparently decided that was enough to put the game down when they realized it

Returnal being on this list is no surprise given how you pretty much can’t save your progress at all before the latest patch, and even then it’s only a bandaid on a huge wound.
