The second Mask dungeon once you enter the Moon in Majora's Mask.

Bouncing off of chests as a Goron is fucking HARD.

I still have yet to get out of the underworld in God of War.

Not the Path of Hades! Not the PATH OF HADES!
On the first part, where you have to walk across these spinning logs with scythe blades poking out of them (did I mention the had a habit of suddenly stopping and then rotating in the opposite direction) I kept trying to look around for all the chests and red orbs. After falling off for the umpteenth time I soon had that foolishness knocked out of me <_<
Still I've finished number one now, time to move on to number II and remember what insta-frustrate moments there are in that[/quote]

Thankfully nothing in GOW2 was nearly as annoying as those.

I read an interview with the devs where they admitted they fucked up and didn't play test Hades properly, hence the universal anguish of gamers all over the world when they reached that nightmare of a level.

It was the only part of the game they didn't playtest.

The balance beams and jumping over the saws was rather horrid too.

That's rather weird; I blazed through that particular part with no difficulty. I'm not saying I was good at the game; I had to scale the difficulty down to 'Easy' at one point because I couldn't kill all the enemies in the room before the floor suddenly opened up.

That and the enemies that kind of dig under the ground; for some reason I found it near-impossible to beat them when they first appeared at the start.

EDIT - Added italics to make the fact that I botched the 'Quote' less obtrusive.

In prototype, there is a mission where you have to defend some guy doing something for almost 4 minutes.
That black doctor guy when he's harvesting genetic material to help you get rid of your vicious, thinking back cancer.
The guy you have to protect is hiding in a building while ever increasing mobs of enemies rush towards the building to kill it. Sounds fine so far, doesn't it? However you can damage the building with your own attacks, and the biggest issue with it is that
you got stripped of basically all your powers by the aforementioned back cancer thingy

CoD4- Enemies infinitely respawn unless you manage to get past their position, which you can't get past because there are too many of them shooting you at once they keep respawing too fast and kill you whenever you try to actually get there(On Veteran difficulty or that one below it).

Those guys are annoying but thier spinny can be blocked and countered, the grab attack works great on them (especially seeing Kratos finish them off by ripping thier arm of and jamming it through them).

There will always be exceptions to a rule, I thought Hades was one of the worst, most frustrating levels I have ever played (it's up there with Jabu Jabu's belly in Ocarina and flying sool in San Andreas).

I'm glad to know you breezed through it, it's nice to know not everyone got tortured by it!

Did yuo really not find climing the blade columns a pain in the ass?

In DMC4, that room where you have to extend your arm from orb to orb in mid-air. Tricky thing is, the camera kinda screws up and it becomes real tedious not to fall under. Bitchy thing is, the room under is a perma-repop zone for creeps... Every time you fall, you have to fight the same creeps, go back up the turning staircase, try again. It sounds easy but god was it frustrating.
Yeah, on the first too difficulties this is piss, but as you go on the orbs move or keep re-spawning and disappearing plus higher difficulties harder creeps (I think its on Dante must die difficulty everything can regenerate health)

Also beat 'em ups where you can win by cheap throws (soul calibre 4)

And these http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GameBreaker
Since it's about levels that break the flow of gameplay, scrappy level [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ScrappyLevel] is the better term.

There are many things like this, but one example that comes to mind is when it's you and a cripple verses the Ukrainian army in Call of Duty 4. The only feasible way to beat it is to hide somewhere.

Two Thrones, There's a bit where you jump onto a difficult chariot race, then IMMEDIATLY afterwords get thrown into a boss fight with a pair of matching bosses.

So not only do you have no sand, but you have no way to recover it AND you have to stay aware of BOTH of your targets.

I think the Wraiths are fun. You can always grab attack them, and knocking them into the air with that removes their tunnelling advantage ^^
The Trapdoor room in the Challenge of Atlas is easier once you get the hang of it. Just smash everyone really quickly =P
