Saints Row 2. You know, the game Yahtzee just reviewed last week?

I'd like to see fewer random encounters and respawning monsters in RPG's. I miss the old days when you could actually clear areas out semi-permanently.

I also don't like games where everything levels with you, so no matter where you go or what you do you're still about the same level of mediocre.

If your game needs more than 50 MB of patch within the first week of its release, you should be shot.

Can we get a (male) love interest that isn't shy/repressed/uptight, please? Articulate and interesting gentlemen do exist. Not that it isn't cute when a guy is shy, but it's ALSO cute when he's NOT shy and some variety in this area would be nice. (Bioware, I'm looking at YOU!!!)

And for cheep's sake stop killing off the cool NPC's in an effort to screw with our emotions.

It would also be nice to play a game, for once, in which your character was not some kind of idiot n00b who must go around asking people about anything and everything that exists. It's not that difficult to write conversations where the exposition comes from the other side and it's more fun to be James Bond than The 40-year-old Virgin.

This is one of my main dislikes in Fallout 3. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the game. But the 3rd person perspective is so terribly done that I'm forced to play in 1st person view which (as someone else stated earlier) removes some of the immersion for me.
Really? Are you playing on a console, maybe, because I haven't been having any real problems with 3rd person. It's harder to *aim* in third person, so I usually switch to 1st for tricky combat, but I use 3rd exclusively for exploring because of that peripheral vision thing.

It's interesting how looking over your character's shoulder mimics how we see in RL better than the first person view, isn't it?

I don't see what all the fuss about the first person is about, it's a basic transfer of perspective. Make a mental note of how you see things in the world every day, if you were holding a gun you would see your hands and forearms, you need a mirror to see what you look like and to see things above/below and to the side of you, you would have to turn either your head or body in the direction nessercary. It's not a hard concept to understand and since that's how we all see things anyway, it's not a novel or alien concept either.
First person in a game is not like RL first person perspective because the angles don't change in the same way. I'm not surprised that a lot of people find it disorienting. Real first person perspective in a game would be more like this [http://www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/?p=1469] than what we have currently.

With a third-person over-the-shoulder view, you simulate this pretty well without any extra hardware.

I second this!

Seriously, I have killed the entire Third Reich BY MYSELF 10 F***ING times in the past 15 years. I am DONE with that war. I do not want to see an M1 Garand in the lower right hand side of my screen EVER AGAIN.
What about the lower left hand side? Call of Duty: Left Handed.
Absolutely not. Just shut up! NO WW2 ANYMORE!!!!! I get it! Hitler was bad! Genocide is bad! The war was terrible! I GET IT! I just don't want to be a part of it anymore! I could probably find an old vet from WW2 and tell HIM about the war!

Just say NO to WW2 shooters.

"Chosen" ANYTHING. I'm sick of it. Why not a game with a bit of free will? Why does it aleays have to be about destiny?
I agree, Honestly I think it would be fun just to be the chosen's one sidekick. Imagine doing all the behind the scene stuff that the sidekicks do.

I'd rather there be no 'chosen one' at all. Just some bloke who steps up and kicks ass, because the villians pissed him off or something. Like Bruce Campbell would have done.

Happy endings, and when you die some sort of angel or spirit comes and heals you. Why can't they say you are frigging dead.

Some games still do say, "Game Over" with no reason as to why you came back. They're just getting less numerous.

Okay. Leaving out Huds, two gun limit, giant overgrown, muscle headed space marines, short single player, over sized multiplayer, games based on anime (Naruto, Bleach, One Piece), turned based RPGs,Huge over done RPG attacks that make the monsters react as if it was a poke in the ribs, Mario games,Pokemon games, destiny stories, mini games that are only good for two days tops, online games with tedious tasks, having 100,000 plus weapons in the game, having to repair your weapons when they jam, crack or break.

What's wrong with leaving the hud out, if you can tell all of the relevant stuff in other ways? I see it appearing here and I don't really get why. That's really part of the reason I'm finding games like Mirror's Edge and Dead Space so compelling.

The reason devs should stop using the real-time events is beacause you may have a lazer-gided missille(or a light saber), but you cant beat a boss until you press A,or X if you spent a littel to much money on a console. Also, nake lightsabers kill with one hit, whats the point of having a sword that can cut trough metal and still can beat enemy.
and last of all(and least) if there is a guy in a hotdog suit, let me were it(thanks saints row 2 for braking more boundaries than Barack Obama)

Oooh, ooh. The protagonist being the 'maverick, bad ass' type.

That pisses me off so much... Why can't we have a normal down to earth protagonist, instead of a sarcastic 'I do crazy stuff but I always come out on top with a witty one liner' guy.

Scaling enemies in RPGs. Bloody hell. If I come a long way to become better, then I want to be able to absolutely pummel anything that I used to have issues with.

I am kind of getting sick of all the space marines and post apocalyptic futures we get it we will be screwed in 100 years or so but these games do teach us how to survive, simply create a master chief.

DLC all of it, I want it gone. Ever since it started it's been used as an excuse to release unfinished games. And then force people to pay for for the rest of it.

Scaling levels... All right 40 lvls later now to have fun with some bandits. SHIT runaway, runaway, runaway.

Games that emphasize customization, and then have NPC only items.
