No, but Metal Gear Solid 4 assumes you will before playing for the first time.

I'll usually take a peek to see if it's worth reading at all.

Most aren't, but there are a few that are genuinely useful.

Old game manuals are the best (the manual for the original Fallout is awesome).

Oh always since the...incident...
Oh I was so naive. I went to the local video store to pick up the critically acclaimed GTA4. I found one last copy left. So i grabbed the box, payed my money and left. I sat down and opened the box to see that some previous renter lost the manual like the half-wit that they are. So I figured since I'm an experienced gamer, I wouldn't need them.
Let's just say, I exchanged it for a different game...WITH A MANUAL!

I read manuals because I'll read anything that isn't glued shut.

But I always regret it afterward because the games I play are so easy that I actually feel deprived of the joy of realizing how the controls work. :(

I think I only read the manuals when I was riding in the passenger seat on the way home from the Gamestop. But now that I drive I have no need.

You know, whatever happened to manuals that you actually had to read to know how to play a game? Lets take Frontier: Elite 2 for example, not only did you have to read that simply because otherwise you'll get arrested in game for failing the copy protection tests, but you had to read it to figure out why it's a bad thing to just blindly fly off when docked, why you should never jettison cargo in front of the police, and why you've suddenly ended up about 500 light years away from your intended destination after a 10 light year hyperspace jump.

Also, Quest for Glory. Where you had to read in order to realise that the thief knows the "Thief Sign" (place your thumb on your nose with the hand held perpendicular to the face and the fingers outspread; wiggle your fingers while focusing your eyes on your thumb and patting your belly with the other hand)
