I like the no frills analogy but lets see once activision tried to kill infinity ward but failed and the studio managed to limp on for mw3 I'd say that series. Sonic because almost every game my friend made me play made me want to kill him with the controller.

Call of duty (Seriously, that game series needed to end after CoD 4...)
Halo (They already said one game was the FINAL one, and yet still another one came out.)
Elder scrolls (Games are awesome, but it needs to make place for something new.)
Pokemon (Or at least, the black/red, gold/silver, etc series. Unless there's some real change/innovation, they need to stop making those.)
Final Fantasy (Imo after 10 it just got worse and worse.)
Mass Effect (Right now they're just at 'We ruined one game of a trilogy'. Let's not make that 'We ruined an entire franchise'. Because with more games, they probably will.)
Both C&C series. As in Red Alert and Tiberian series. (They got all that you could out of those series. And starcraft 2 did it better anyway. I doubt those two can top SC2 really, even with new games.)

Mario, sonic and zelda need to stay. Not because the games are good or anything, but because I want newer generations to also experience them. Well, unless the games become truly, utterly, entirely shitty one after another.

There's no series I'd like to end, just a few that I would prefer to not rule the market. Obviously Call of Duty is a big one here. But in more general terms, I would prefer it if game devs/publishers stopped focusing so much on the multiplayer. Finding good single player games is hard these days. I lack the patience or the dedication/group of dedicated friends for online gaming. So now, when I do play, it's usually Mario games or single player rpg's.

On the other hand, I completely understand that this is business, and they will go where the market is. The market is currently a lot of people with online friends. :(

I'd like to see them all ended and new games and ideas be brought into existence because i'm sick of having nothing but sequels to play. I know the games inside out before i even play them and that seriously destroys the challenge and fun for me.

Sonic the motherfucking Hedgehog... as soon as the 90's ended anyone who had anything to do with the series should've burst into flames and any game cartridge with the slightest bit of sonic taint should've spontaneously combust... but as it stands the series needs to be put to bed... and than smothered to death...<.<

They never said that Halo 3 was the final game. They said it would be BUNGIE's last Halo game (but because of contract made Reach and ODST.)

Plus Halo 3 ended in a cliff hanger. :/

Actually upon further research, we wouldn't even get Morrowind in The Elder Scrolls series before it had to die. 2 games came out in-between Daggerfall and Morrowind, so we wouldn't even see Morrowind and Oblivion, some of the best damn games ever!

And even Metal Gear, we wouldn't see MGS2, as there are two different MG2's (original Japanese one, made by Hideo and American (known to be shit) version that was just made to get some quick dosh)).

Though I think we're taking his analogy a bit too serious...

Nope...non for me. If I really dont like a series I just stop buying it and avoid it.I really dont think a franchise has to be die just because I dont like it, that just seems petty and immature.

Kingdom Hearts needs to at least end its continuity soon, it spanned to many games on to many systems to reasonably expect people to follow it. They just want to milk it with filler forever.

halo, bring on the hate.
You're new here, aren't you? Trust me no one will be jumping to defend Halo on these forums.
[small]Even though I like the series...[/small]

OT: Maybe make less CoD games with better writers is all I can say, other than that I wouldn't get rid of any.
yes i am new to the forums although ive been using the website for a while.

Sarcasm on the internet, my only weakness :p

Little tip, next time put /sarcasm at the end of it. Will lessen the impact of it, but prevent misunderstandings.
Yeah, that or an emoticon probably wouldn't go amiss. I really need too remember that sarcasm doesn't translate into text very well. :p

I'm not too sure about Metal Gear Solid, I mean I don't want them to go overboard, I think they should stop with Big Boss after Ground Zeroes, and make a few spinoffs like Rising, then stop.

If a series can continue to entertain and surprise me, I've got no reason to tell it to get lost.

Minecraft2 and 3 , I hear the sequels are going to be terrible, Notch is trying is using pyramids instead of squares in 2 . Worse yet in the third the 'blocks' are hyperbolic paraboloids.

*serious face*
Nahhhh i dont think any series need to end cos then the whole production team loses their jobs :( And thats always a bad thing.
Sir, your post made me smile.

Anyway, Gears of war needs to be axed. Cliff Blaziz has kinda lost his sizzle.
