Ive always preferred buying the actual game in stores but I do download content from Stea all the time, I wouldn't use an all digital service though

I'm pretty sure Steam is pretty successful digital sales. As far as losing your content, it doesn't seem any different than losing a character in an MMO when you get banned.
Except for the fact that the character didn't cost sixty dollars. You paid for the game, and keeping the character without the game is silly. Also, if you get banned you did something wrong. If you hit a spot if financial trouble, then you might lose all your stuff.

Lame idea and a stupid method of execution. They have killed themselves before it even began. On Live is destined to fail judging by what they are offering. They definitely won't be making a cent off of me.

Yeah, I got banned from steam for no reason when I had like $70 on there, but I also on another account got taken away around $15-$30, so in conclusion, steam is a rip off.
You're sure you didn't use idle servers or cheats? That's what they ban you for. (Contact them to dispute your bans if not).

OT: Why can't all DD just be like Steam? One-time payment, download the game, no connection required if it's singleplayer, there you go.

@Topic

This has officially destroyed any interest I have in OnLive.

banned for no reason? steam doesn't ban you unless you are an account hijacker or a huge douche. pick one reason.
I got banned for no reason as well. Lost access to all my games in the process and Steam wouldn't re-open my account because I don't keep receipts for games that are 5 years old. Steam can definitely be a ripoff, I agree.

Also, I never account hijacked, I never used cheats/aimbots/etc and I'm certainly not a "huge douche", Steam basically singled me out for no real reason and wouldn't even explain why. Haven't used Steam in quite a while and it's really no skin off my back, they just lost sales because of their shitty policy.

...Did my interest in OnLive just switch from 0 to dread? I sincerely hope that this is not a sign of how digital distribution is going to be run.

Why do they think they can hold our games for ransom? I do not negotiate with terrorists. End of story.

I give this device six months maximum before it crumbles into it's own foundation. It will never have close to the same online neighborhood as the other gaming devices making online incredibly hard.

No clue, it just said that my account was disabled, and I have no idea why.
How long ago?
Maybe a month? Because I tried to logg in after not logging in for a very long time, and then I figured out that I was banned.
It couldn't be inactivity. My brother revived his account after about 3 years and it still had the games he had on it.

Sadly, those were MY games because he used the CD keys from HL to play CS. Whatever, I replaced them all during a sale for less than $10. Hell, it might have been $5, I can't remember.

More on topic: Did these guys get held over a barrel while signing contracts with game publishers? That's the only excuse I could come up with for them since they obviously forgot they are competing with piracy. I mean, with terms like this, why would a user choose to not own a game and pay money for it when he can just choose to not own a game? I guess they think that $60 of vapor-product is worth the moral highground. No thanks, I'll stick with Steam because the $5-$10 of permanent-product is worth it.

I hate a;; the current-gen consoles, but in the long run if people want to play current-gen games but don't have a PC that's up to snuff, they should just buy a console. Simple as that. This service relies on too many variables to work, and the fact that you don't actually own the game is a kick in the nuts. You just own the right to play the game.

here is how to digital distribution right
1. one time only or no fee
2. sales
3. take the on live component of not needing good pc to play games but make it so you dont need to be connected to online
4. lets you keep games forever

if you can do all 4 you can make the almost perfect digital distribution platform

Well, I don't know about you guys, but I have Comcast, therefore I expect this service would cut out on me every ten minutes or so. I imagine most of the rest of the world has similar connectivity issues that prevent this from being feasible.

Maybe if OnLive wanted to take off they would sell their games CHEAPER than anyone who could just walk in the store and buy them, without a subscription fee AND you get to keep them.

Or go on steam and buy games when they drop down to like $10.
