It's shit like this why digital distribution won't work.
I'm pretty sure Steam is pretty successful digital sales. As far as losing your content, it doesn't seem any different than losing a character in an MMO when you get banned.
but you still own the game and can make a new acount i think.(dont play mmo)

This is why I hate Cloud gaming, along with the fact that you have to be online at all times. I can't believe people actually support this garbage.

The onlive model won't work. Cloud gaming could still work if the greedy publishers are thrown out and the service can work with the developers. Think about a "rent" free version of Onlive. Where the entire library of games is yours to play.

Microsoft has a similar service with their zune software. You pay a monthly service for access to a large library of songs, and can use as much as you like as long as you like until you stop paying your monthly fee. Then it all vanishes.

That is ridiculous, in my opinion. I don't think that OnLive is going to be very successful.

It's a shame, really; it has a lot of potential.

In most modern MMO's, no you can't it's one account per CD key, get banned and you're done.

I've always assumed the reason some websites and games delete accounts after a period of time is to save server space.
Now, if you going to release a product that is entirely web based, having the servers to deal with it would be a start, it says something about the confidence they have in the product that they're willing to cut this corner to save money.

@Topic

This has officially destroyed any interest I have in OnLive.
Yeah, I got banned from steam for no reason when I had like $70 on there, but I also on another account got taken away around $15-$30, so in conclusion, steam is a rip off.
They banned you? Then you ripped YOURSELF off. They don't ban indiscriminately.

Really? Nobody knew this was gonna be so? It was clear to me since i first heard about it.

On the bright side, they didn't say, per say, that your content would be deleted, you would just never ever ever get it again and theres nothing you can do about it.

Wait a minute! So you have to pay for the subscription AND the games!?
The difference being that you don't have to download the games or ever upgrade your PC. You save time and money. However, I see your point.
