Is there really anything more to say?
Nintendo funds the development, Nintendo gets the game. If Sony and MS cared about their fans and the fans cared about the game, either Sony or MS would have offered help to publish the game. But they did nothing.

So... what is the logical reason for Nintendo to publish a game on the PS360? This is one of the few cases where "false sense of entitlement" isn't just a buzzword, but has actual meaning.

@DustyDrB
Thanks for correcting me.
That's what I meant to write.

It's never pleasant when a game you want comes out for a console you don't own, but the degree of this backlash is kind of surprising. If it was a choice between a Wii U exclusive Bayonetta 2 and no Bayonetta 2 at all, wouldn't the console exclusive be the better option?
Not really if you don't want or are not planning on buy the console it's coming on to.

My beef with this is more to do with the fact it's not on the PS3/360 than it is with it being on the Wii U. I felt the same with Splinter Cell: Conviction being exclusive to the 360 when I bought Double Agent on the PS3. I didn't want to switch platforms to get the new game in a series which had previously been available to me on my preferred machine.

I think the hate is a bit stupid but I know what it feels like. I'd much prefer it to be available on a system it was on before than exclusive to another that isn't even out yet.

Wrong. "Entitled" implies their feeling is valid. This is a case of "false sense of entitlement"

(Yeah, I got what you meant. I too like that this is one case where the buzzword actually applies).

I know how Bayonetta fans feel right now. It happened with Gears of War 2 and Manhunt 2 for me when it didn't come out on the PC. I wasn't that much of a fan but it still upset me a little. Now I don't think I'd buy those games even if they did come out on PC since I lost interest in both franchises.
Dick move by Nintendo, but I suppose they desperately need to give people reason to buy the Wii-U.

How the hell can financing a dead game, a game that wouldn't come out if it wasn't for Nintendo, be a dick move?

If it wasn't for Nintendo, they game wouldn't have been developed and released. Instead of attacking them, people should be thankful for giving them at least a way of playing the game.

Actually, Nintendo rarely intervenes in the process of other companies making games. One famous example is "Conker's Bad Fur Day". This game came out for the N64, then again for the XBox. Now, here's a side by side comparison of one scene:

Notice how the XBox Version censors out words. That wasn't Rare's decision, that was Microsoft. Meanwhile, when they were working with Nintendo, Nintendo might have thrown a suggestion or two, but all decisions were left to Rare. That's why CBFD on N64 only censors the F word, while Microsoft's version pretty much censors every naughty word imaginable.

I bet Bayonetta 2 will go through uncensored. It would be stupid for Nintendo to censor any of it, and that's not the usual company policy.
It all sort of depends on the market Nintendo goes for though. What could pass in the past could be considered unfit today if they think it will be unfit for the main audience that they decide to go for. Bayonetta certainly is a more "non-casual" title, so that would imply that they may not intervene if that's the reason they bought it, but at the same time Nintendo doesn't seem to want to lose that casual/family audience that they acquired. Now then again, they did let Platinum make Mad World, which certainly didn't fit that family friendly audience, so maybe they'll also let Platinum do what they want on this one. I jut find though that sexual content is more scrutinized than violent content, and let's face it, it's unlikely going to be the violence in Bayonetta 2 that family audiences find repulsive.

As if female dolphins didn't have it bad enough, what with the males raping them/killing their children etc.

Am I the only one who thought Bayonetta sucked big time anyway?

You are never the only one. On the first page is proof of this.

If Nintendo want to publish it, then they know it'll sell well. They aren't doing anyone a favor by publishing it. Someone else would've probably done it if it wasn't for Nintendo.
Having a game on a console you'll never buy is almost as bad as not having it at all. Nintendo probably deprived most of the original game's fans, since most gamers get only one console.

Not a terrible decision on Nintendo's part. They'd claimed the Wii U would show a bit more love to the hardcore demographic, but no one (myself included) believed it (or believe it now, frankly). I'm not sure how well it will sell, given the people who are be likely to buy the Wii U, based on the Wii's track record with hardcore games & gamers, but it's kinda nice to see them attempting to look like they're trying (I reserve a more definitive compliment for if/when they announce more non-casual, non-shovelware games)

Like you pointed out though, games like Mad World and No More Heroes were pretty adult, even when Nintendo's target was Casuals. They don't really interfere when other people are making games for their consoles. The real problem though is that Nintendo really didn't market either of those. I think Nintendo won't make this mistake again though, cause they bothered to make a little Teaser for Bayonetta 2 instead of just saying "Yeah, we have Bayonetta 2! Look for it sometime soon..."

This kind of thing is hilarious to me. I didn't even play the first Bayonetta but after this outcry and, rage I feel compelled to grab the sequel as soon as possible. Those comments that Dexter 111 posted on page one were pretty hilarious too. Rememeber Yahtzee's review of Kirby's Epic Yarn where he says whenever he buys a game for kids, it's symbolic of an actual child not getting to play that said game? That's more or less why I want Bayonetta 2: to spite those commenters who likely didn't start gaming until Madden started releasing games yearly and don't know their Master Higgins from a Tektite.

"apparently the Wii U is made out of fairy wings and unicorn dust" best quote ever... at this moment I don't really care about the Wii U, for me looks like too expensive for so little GB storage and crappy launch games or remakes of games already seen on PS3/Xbox 360... maybe sometime in the future, who knows, after all I do have a Wii ('tho is mostly for my parents to see Netflix) and a 3DS
