If it was a choice between a Wii U exclusive Bayonetta 2 and no Bayonetta 2 at all, wouldn't the console exclusive be the better option?
I partially disagree. At least if it was never made, fans of the series can beg for it to be put back on the market. If it's a console exclusive, then if I complain that I haven't been able to play a game in that series in years, some smug person will tell me that all I need to do is buy that console.

I'm mainly a PC gamer, and I'm thinking about buying either a 360 or PS3 right now, so that I can play exclusives. Either way I'll be able to play Red Dead Redemption, Bayonetta, and Catherine, but it means that I have to choose between Uncharted and Journey, versus Fez, Mark of the Ninja, and Trials Evolution. Why can't I just buy one, and get all the games? Better yet, why can't I just buy them on Steam?

If Nintendo want to publish it, then they know it'll sell well. They aren't doing anyone a favor by publishing it. Someone else would've probably done it if it wasn't for Nintendo.
Having a game on a console you'll never buy is almost as bad as not having it at all. Nintendo probably deprived most of the original game's fans, since most gamers get only one console.
But that is the thing: No one did pick it up. They did not find a publisher until Nintendo stepped in. What should they have done? Neglect the offer and let the franchise die?

The thing is: Just because one publisher thinks that it'll sell then it does not mean that other publisher think that was well.
No one picked it up YET. We don't know who intended to get it other than Nintendo or what might've stopped them for doing so (unless you'd care to enlighten me). A good reason to make a sequel to a game is that people liked the first game. Many of those people won't be able to buy it since they already chose their current-gen console.

The thing is: Nintendo being the only company willing to publish this game is possible, but very unlikely.

I find this to be really stupid. Nintendo is constantly getting bugged over being a "kiddy console" and not having anything for "the hardcore crowd" beyond their first party titles and then they decide to pony up the dough to get exclusive rights to a game that is especially hardcore and people still have fits.

I don't like this, but not because it is nintendo getting the title, but because the sequel to a game I like switches platforms to one I don't intend to get. I would also hate bayonetta 2 being released exclusively on xbox since I don't own one and won't get one. Same issue I had when gears 2 didn't get a pc release
Also: the rage is not because the wiiuuuuuuuuu is getting the title and becoming more of teh hardcore but because it is being "taken away" from the other platforms. You know like pc gamers groaning whenever the sequel to a game they like is getting "streamlined for more accessibility".

I mean, I can understand people being upset that they won't get to play a sequel to one of their favorite games if they weren't (and aren't) planning on getting a Wii U. We get it. We really do.

But as has been said a ka-jillion times (scientifically notated as "times*10^kjsadhgfj"), the game wouldn't exist without Nintendo. They're paying of their own coffers to give PG a job, have the game see the light of day, and simultaneously round out their Wii U library with a "hardcore game"(what a stupid term that is), which people have been begging for.

Bayonetta 2 isn't enough to warrant getting a Wii U for you? Fine. Be angry. That's FINE.

It is NOT fine, however, to be mad at Nintendo for helping out PG, whom so many claim to have "used to respect" so much. Don't fault Nintendo for good business and bringing back the Bayonetta series from the abyss. That sucks. Don't suck.

Exactly. Anyone who thinks that if they ran Nintendo's publishing money, and wanted Bayonetta made, but would try to release it across all consoles is a flipping liar.

Well, this is Resident Evil 4 all over again (granted, it was a timely exclusive, not entirely Nintendo published). Stating the obvious, people like to whine and complain, simple as that. And maybe, just maybe, if you whine hard enough, you'll may get the game in your console.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll continue to whine and complain a bit more to get Rayman Legends for PC. Who knows?, maybe Ubisoft will start to bend over our whinings and release the game for other platforms!.

To be honest, is anyone surprised at all?
As someone who didn't play the first, I honestly don't care all that much. But seeing as the same thing happened with Rayman Legends, I completely understand the basic sentiment. That doesn't mean people have to act like total asshats...

Motion controls don't really translate well to a fighting game like Bayonetta.

I really think part of the whining is that they won't be able to get it on top of the fact that the game is likely to be vastly changed from the original that they obviously liked(may not end up a bad thing, but people tend to fear change). I know I won't be buying a Wii U, but I probably will just completely give in and join the PC gaming master race. Mods for life, yo!

Which is why it'll be using the gamepad controller.
The giant touchscreen one? Still makes for a little difficult transition.

If you're talking about the classic controller, fine, but I still say that is the least comfortable controller to use in this generation.

team platinum: "yeah we really want to make a new Bayonetta!"
Sega: "yeah.... not with our money. i'm sorry, but the game was a not the financial success we wanted it to be."
TP: "but, but.... but people like it so much, people really want a sequel."
Sega: "then they should have paid more money!"
Nintendo: "hey TP, we think it has potential, we want to publish it, but it has to be exclusive on our upcoming console."
TP: "fine, we just want to make a great sequel to a good game."

and this was what probably happened. sure, it sucks that i can't play it on my xbox 360, but at least we are getting a sequel.

Bayonetta 2 would not have been made otherwise (see my above simple math).
I'm not seeing the difference, obviously there won't be that many people getting the console so it might as well not have been, it makes no difference for them, mostly just eliminates all hope they might've had and keeps developers from doing something else. It's likely that it'll also be designed with that Touchpad...thing in mind xD

The new audience is the polar opposite of the old audience, of course they'd be pissed.

Yeah, this isn't the first time of this situation happening, but it is something special still. I can understand why people would like Bayonetta 2 on other Consoles, but they'll all (Or most of them will) get over it and eventually buy a WiiU, not just for B2, but for everything else the WiiU Will get (Or they'll just watch the Let's Plays).
By the point this is about to come out the new Xbawks and PlayStation (and respective games on the platforms) are going to be announced and everyone will have forgotten about it/gotten over it, so I don't really see that coming.

I'm rather sure the Wii U will fail in a big and spectacular way.
I laughed at all the conjecture and misinformation ur post has bro. The wiiU isn't obviously gonna fail, that is just your biases talking. I think it has a pretty good chance of making it. I believe Nintendo is playing it smarter than we all think. If Microsoft and Sony announce their newest consoles next year, everyone knows it will be at least 2 years before we get it, and that is enough time for Nintendo to become dominant in the console market if they keep picking up such great games.

Edit: I realize my post has a lot of conjecture too, but it is too early to write the system off since: A: It hasn't even come out yet B: It is coming out in November can you imagine the sales from Black Friday and Christmas this console is gonna get since it is new and is trying something other consoles are not doing (except microsoft's blatantly smartglass copy). Yes you can say it is a gimmick, but gimmick's can sometimes help revolutionize the industry.

Or, they could be raging about how both Consoles supposedly will restrict people buying Used Games (As in the Consoles won't let you play used games), or how it's the same as last generation with more pixels, or how the games are the same shoot-em ups over again, or how the launch line up sucks, or how they've copied Nintendo Too Much, or a veriaty of other things that people will complain about.

I will agree that it would make some people forget about the WiiU, but I am positive that the WiiU will sell well. It won't fail in a big and spectacular way, though it won't succeed like the Wii. It will Sell good, like the PS1 or PS2.

Great thing about having all current gen consoles (and eventually WiiU), exclusives are never a problem. If I have money to spare, I may get this.
Also some of those tweets Dexter pasted in the thread are hilariously dumb.

Wasn't Bayonetta ported really crummily to the PS3? Essentially, the only "good" system to play it on was the 360, so it was basically a console exclusive in a way. And we don't know, maybe the game takes advantage of the WiiU specs and can't be ported to the other consoles without serious downgrades.

Now the argument becomes "I'm so mad that a game I want and haven't played is coming out on system I don't want and haven't played, instead of a system I do want and haven't played."

Just because you're ignorant doesn't mean everyone is.
If you were under a stone for the last few days, it's OK. The internet went full retard after Nintendo Direct. Even the god damn Pachter, the person who didn't have even one nice thing to say about Nintendo in the last few years said that the WiiU will sell like hot chocolate in the Alps. He predicts that the WiiU will be constantly sold out until the next April if the hype keeps up.

I'm not saying Pachter's predictions are right, but a man who openly admits not liking Nintendo changes his opinion so drastically and predicts a huge success means something. Even /v/ the only video game board that is know for hating video games (and everything else) is totally hyped for the WiiU.

I'm not saying that it will sell great. But the chances of the WiiU selling great are much bigger than the chances of selling bad.

To people to think that Sega will publish it on other consoles:
Sega has no saying about the game. And Sega doesn't own the IP. The own the first game, but the IP is PG property. PG (afaik) has never self published a game.
