EDIT: My god, thats one hell of a post, if you can't be assed reading it it don't blame you in the slightest, I've added bullet points at the bottom :)

Hey all, need some advice, bit of backstory should help so you get the situation.

I thought, as no doubt countless before me, that it'd be sweet if my girlfriend was a gamer. That way she wouldn't get bored/pissed off whenever we visit friends and I inevitably get sucked into whatever's on the screen (after all, an addiction shared is an addiction. . . doubled?)

She's already a bit of a Sim gamer (-city, -farm, THE Sims, etc.) from childhood, plus Oregon Trail and the like but I was keen to get her into 360 games, maybe end up with a co-op partner for those times when the Next Big Thing rolls around the corner.

Oh yeah, shes a techie by trade, can no doubt build a computer faster than I could build a. . . well it wouldn't take her long, while I know the bare minimum for finding a DotA server and whatnot. Despite this shes not into FPS, RTS or basically anything not made by Maxis. She ALWAYS kicks my ass at Singstar but I think of that less as a game and more as a tool for public humiliation >_<

My first attempt was what I know best, Halo 3, but she got fed up with the controls and wasn't too interested anyway, then Kingdom Hearts where again the controls and jump puzzles just didnt come to her. I see these things as simple but its easy to forget that being a console gamer for years means you can pick up a controller and pretty much always be at least adequate, but teaching. . . well it just didnt work.

Luckily I came across the perfect game, Fable 2. She got drawn in by the grind funnily enough, blacksmithing away then finding out that trading between shops and travellers got her ludicrous amounts of gold and using it to buy every house she came across. Since she had to slog through Quests to unlock the new areas there was a breakthrough with the control system and all of a sudden she's clocked the game 8 times in the space of 3 weeks 0_o

Now that she's run out of game content and it's getting repetitive (yes, we've done the DLC and side-quests) I have absolutly no idea what to put in front of her next. The gold sparks trail from Fable was great since she never got lost and the whole "you can't really die" factor was a bonus.

I guess I'm asking, is there something just like Fable 2 out there for 360? Any and all input appreciated :)

**** Need a game for 360/PS2 that my girlfriend will like:

*Loved Fable 2 but done everything in it, something similar out there?

*Don't have a hard-drive so can't play Fable 1

*Co-op games would be great if possible (assuming the system isn't retarded like Fable 2's lack of splitscreen)

*3rd-person over FPS

The only co-op game I can think of for you is Resident Evil 5 :/

Either that or try a racing game... not sure which ones since I'm not a fan but it is still worth looking into.

KoToR/Mass Effect are a bit more restricted than Fable, but there's plenty of different paths you can take (good/evil, man/woman etc) to keep her playing it.

I've finally managed to wrestle my copy of KoToR 2 from my 17-year old little sister, and if she of all people could get hooked, I see no reson why your girlfriend shouldn't.

(I know they're not 360 games, but then again I'm a bit of a pc nerd myself)

And throw in L4D.

All games are for girls and boys, thank you. There is a game like Fable for xbox called Jade empire. It's fun but you play a character not your own.

It seems like everything so far is held back by the control system, tried Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on an emulator but it was nigh-impossible on the keyboard

RPG's seem like the entrypoint its just the difficulty curve, I'll try Okami and KoTOR

Erana/Raga: My apologies, I was going to title it "Games for entry level-female Gamers who aren't quite sold on the idea" but it wasn't quite as snappy :p

Can't you plug in Xbox 360 controllers?
(Also wouldn't go over the top on emulation talk. Seen people get flagged as pirates for lesser things) (Yarrrr!)

Probably a poisonously bad idea but if she enjoyed simple linear controls, gameplay and grind a MMORPG?

While not a co-op game, Portal is always fun. Even if you just take turns.

As for co-op, well I don't own a 360. But I do recommend game like Diablo for the PC.

D4zZ: I feel fully justified since I own the whole kit and cant play since the AV cables are bust, if Nintendo released it for DS I'd be. . . 30,000 and somethingth in line for it (Japanese fan base and whatnot). Apparently I need a wireless receiver to use my wired controllers on the comp. . . yay Micro$oft >_<

2 bad you dont have a PC as she sounds like she would really like a mmorpg, or a co-op rpg like baladurs gate or neverwinter nights.

I got my GF into gaming from playing rpg's and mmorpgs together, when we lived apart we would get on a mmorpg and play together as away of hanging out together and doing stuff :)

but yeah it is very hard to remember that playing games for years you do tend to be able to pick up games and puzzles alot easier. Take psychnaughts, took my GF 30 hours + walkthroughs to finish, i did it in just under 10 with no help and was a higher rank.

All I say is good luck! and the best thing you can do is to show patience and understand that not every game will be her thing, treat it like a book or a movie and try and find games that she will like, other than games you will.
