I dunno if she'd like the over-the top violence, but Gears of War 2 is great for split-screen, has a much better story than Gears 1 and is third-person. Also, blood, gore and swearing can be disabled.

Resident Evil 5? Thats all I got
My mate and his girlfriend played this through together, they really enjoyed it.

Think it kept the relationship going for a while longer than it should have though as they broke up soon afterwards.

(maybe co-op with your gf isn't the best of ideas?)

Get Okami for the PS2.

I introduced this one to my female counterpart and she loved it. Mine hates rpgs and most other games, but loves smash! and omfg is she good at it. If i were you I'd provide her with examples the wide spectrum of games on the market see what she likes. If shes into the RPG, show her the ff series. I know that ff 2 for the snes allows for two player action in combat. guitar hero and rock band should def. be in your gaming shelf. Those are excellent games for multiplayer. Try some silent hill as well. Late night movie/gaming date. See where that leads ;)

Lego series, games based on disney films, castle crashers, rock band, and Grifball in Halo 3. Those are what my wife and I play anyway. She sometimes will play regular multiplayer in Halo with me, for short periods of time. Also tried WoW, and she liked it, but questing with her pissed me off sometimes. "Okay, I'm aggro-ing this guy, get rea-" "oooo! there's an herb over here!" That's more a problem of different gaming style, but still.

I haven't played it, but Two Worlds may be good. As far as I know, you can't die in it, you just get transported to a respawn. It's 3rd Person and it has some co-op quests.

A little off-topic, although if you're talking about someone being offended by blood, gore, and swearing, and thus a pitfall to playing with them, it would be applicable. How does that work in, say, the level where you run through the intestines of a giant worm, then give it cario surgery (read: removal of three hearts via chainsaw gun) and have to do so before the chamber fills with blood each time? I mean, not critcizing the feature, haven't used it, but I would think that whole level would be quite tricky to adapt for "blood and gorelessness" (let alone most of the cinematics and key plot points).

Really it depends what TYPE of girlfriend you have, cause every girl prefers different games, the best advice i can think to give you is ASK HER, failing that, Okami for PS2 is great. Can't help you with the 360(Play Station all the way), but if you girlfriend likes that kind of stuff GTA Sanandreas has a hidden Multiplayer that rocks, BUT the camera tends to get annoying, HOPE THAT HELPED! ^_^

PS: If you need to know where the hidden multiplayer freerome is message me!

For the 360, try Sacred 2. It's a co-op in a RPGish way. I haven't played it yet, but I've had a couple people rave about it to me.

For PS2 I agree with Okami. My best friend was obsessed with this game, and she has the same kind of tastes as you described of your girlfriend.

I have no idea. I've never used the feature to disable blood. I assume it wouldn't affect the worm part, but in my opinion it's more disturbing to see a human blown into peices than being in a giant worm as it bleeds internally.

Oblivion is nice, but im a big consol gamer and well, she's not, but it's an arrpeegee like Fable and the controls could either be easy for her, or increadably hard.

Try getting her into racing games, that never fails, it's preety much just, gas, brake, turn, reverse, simple as that. Burnout Paradice would be good to get her started into the genra, or if she wants more of a realistic feel then try Dirt or Forza Motorsport for 360. You could try Gran Turismo 4 for the PS2

this! thiiis!
its really a shame she cant experience it on the Wii for the motion-sensor-brush-ness thing, getting the arm flailing technique right for that was a fun flavour of challenging, but its a stunning game regardless.

Also a worms game for mindless sillyness

RPGs? Blue Dragon is quite nice and fairly easy to figure out. Nice story line and an introduction to JRPG style games.

I'd suggest Eternal Sonata.

The controls are easy for a beginner, and as you play it ups to difficulty: first all you can do is attack and use items, then it adds in blocking, then counter attacks, and finally at "Party Level 6" the button commands change each round, which sounds difficult, but I really liked it, and I tend to be a button-masher kind of gamer and can't handle the controls that well. It's a very, very good game for getting someone used to a control and working around it. It's also not so long--mine was 90 hours because I did the optional dungeon, which means it doesn't get that boring, and she'll be better used to working around controls by the time she's done (plus there are no puzzles or anything like that; it's very straightforward), so you can move her over to other kinds of games.

It also has a large playable cast (the PS3 version at least; I know it has more playable characters and edits to the story) which makes it easy for someone to learn what kind of characters they do best with.

Yeah the title wasn't a good choice, luckily your post stopped the flame war before it started.
As for suggestions your GF sounds a lot like my older sister who has slowly gotten into gaming over the years. I guess it's infectious. But just from my experience with my sister I find she really enjoys simple platformers (ala Lego Star Wars), puzzle games (tetris anyone?), and racing games (I know it's not on your systems but Mario Kart is always a hit).

Anyways why don't instead of choosing the game for her, take a trip down to the local game store / rental place with her and let her pick out something that interests her. You never know she might just see something and surprise you.

I am a girl (a gamer, but nevertheless a girl), and I do not like playing shooters or zombie killings for prolonged periods of time because the graphics are quite dark and grainy, and things jump out at you and you then have to take a lie down, a general lack of spacial awareness, I cannot shoot straight and then I just get bored after being shot/eaten for the umpteenth time.

I am more a Nintendo person but the games I really enjoyed on the PS2 were Kingdom hearts, final fantasy and ookami. Since your girlfriend likes sims, maybe this shows that she likes the human element of games more than fighting or shooting. They also had pretty graphics, a good story line and were compelling. I realise that they are single player games, but you could always take turns. I also really enjoyed guitar hero because I could listen to music and press buttons at the same time, which is quite addictive. I think you can do multiplayer with guitar hero as well.

I think that when it comes to more `family fun together` games, the wii is the best shot with games like mario karts and wii sports because most people, beginner or advanced, can play them and have fun. Maybe you could rent one from your local store.

Best of luck to you

p.s. apologies to all the girls out there who are actually good at playing games. I am not implying that girls are rubbish at shooting games and the more `serious` `hardcore` genres, I just happen to be myself.
