Exactly, like only one guy mentioned Big Rigs and that is one of the best examples for a game that isnt worth playing, the rest of the guys seem to just choose one game of the popular ones and say how much they dont like it.
Do you mean like this guy?

Any FPS with regenerating health.

Any FPS with a cover mechanic.

Any FPS with 2 guns or less. Exception being TF2 because giving infinite gun use in a team based game would off balance it.

99% of all third person shooters ever made.

Diablo 3. (real money pay to win house + no customizable stats + limit on amount of skills I can use + infinite respecing = Do Not Want)

WWE games.

Sports games.

Every Need For Speed game made after Underground 2. (exception being Carbon which was fun)

Any game with any form of combat or feeling of competition. Journey would be a prime example.

Mass Effect 2.

Mass Effect 3.

Dragon Age 2.

Anything Nintendo has ever made with the exceptions of Brawl, Mario Kart, and Pokemon.

Civilization 5. (let's ruin the combat with 1 unit per tile and dumb down the diplomacy while making the AIs be even dumber @ there own game than before sounds like fantastic ideas /sarcasm)

Any 2D fighting games.

Most JRPGs made from the time FF 10 was released until now. For most due to them going away from the combat systems from the days of FFs 4 - 9. (kinda bad where fing Pokemon has some of the best turn based combat out of games made in the last 10 years. even as a Pokemon fan that saddens me) Anyway the exceptions to this are Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey both being epic in there own ways. And it must be said Dark Souls mainly because I personally never considered the souls series a JRPG but instead a WRPG that happens to be made by a Japanese company.
I'm honestly only quoting 7Sins for the benefit of the first person I quoted, the only thing I even want to touch about your post is that I believe you meant "Any game withOUT any form of combat or feeling of competition".

As for myself, Rage. I have no clue if it's any better now than it was on release, but when it was released it was nothing but a glorified tech demo, and a terrible one at that. Half of the textures that they touted as being "revolutionary" new technology looked murky, washed out, and low res because of how much compressing they needed to do, it had bugs out the ass, crashed one out of every three times I went through a loading screen, and had functional but mediocre gunplay at best. It was a waste of 20+ GB on my hard drive.

So all in all, you don't like what...almost all recent games for the past few years.

You sure picked the right hobby

I'mma take the hippy-dippy answer and say that all games are worth at least a half-hour of gameplay. Legendary was a legendary failure but the premise alone makes it worth a glance. Final Fantasy XIII and, 2 have a lot of fans where the only nice thing I can say about it is how it's like Jillian from Family Guy (freaking beautiful for what it is but annoying as Hell). Personally, I wouldn't play any of EA's sports games. Not because I dislike sports in general or, because I'm hardcore anti-EA (although those are factors) but because I really don't care too much for the genre in general. Not even Mario can make most sports titles appeal to me.

If this thread goes on long enough we are going to have every game possible in here so ill just simplify it the games not worth playing are the ones you dont enjoy and thats it. I could name a few games I did not care for in the slightest and consider a complete waste of my time but it would have no meaning for someone else who may have had a completely different experience with them and genuinely enjoyed them.
That seems like the best answer to me.

Last... DMC4
No way the last devil may cry game you played was the newest one?!
I'm sorry, but i had to. My inner asshole coming out to play a little.

OT: Dynasty Warriors games.
At least don't buy every single generation and their spinoffs. That's a little much.

Sadly, Metroid Other M. For any fan of the Metroid series this is a game to steer away from lest one risk their perception of the whole series getting tarnished (I'd include the last several mins of Mass Effect 3 for the same reason.) Not only does it ruin the character of Samus Aran but it is an ill-conceived mess that is just horrendously broken and plays horrendously poorly.
You can't say a game isn't fun because of some bad voice acting/writing.
Haha oooooh yes, yes you can. If the voice-acting is so awful that you spend more time laughing at the apathetic-sounding third-grader doing what appears to be a poorly worded schoolplay than you spend trying to follow the storyline, then the fun stops.

Or, actually, you are enjoying yourself by laughing AT the game, but this gets old very quickly..
No. No you can't. Because the gameplay is still fun, therefor the game is still fun.

If you eat a pie with poor packaging does the pie suddenly taste like crap?
Flawed analogue: The voice-acting is part of the gameplay, and thus part of the "pie", and not just packaging. I see story as a crucial part of the gameplay, and they ruined it. So I can call bullshit on it. YOU can of course say "I don't care about story/don't care about voice-acting, and the story is still good" and I can say "Okey, fine, you don't care, but I do, and I am calling it".

Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). Beastiality, poor controls and was just so ugly to look at. Embodies everything wrong with the Sonic franchise.

Crysis 2. I found it boring, with no gripping story elements and clunky gameplay (I was playing on Xbox 360). The stealth parts were pretty cool...but that was about it.

Risen (Console) - Its just bad, the controls suck, the voice acting is frighteningly bad, and overall its just boring, I player the game for about 2 hours then I just hated it and traded it in.

FarCry 2 - Its like the characters have no knowledge of what punctuation is and it is annoying as hell and really immersion breaking because the characters just go on and on If you buy the DLC for the game you get a load of OP weapons that you get at the start of the game see what I did there I just randomly changed topic but you didn't know because punctuation doesn't exist in FarCry 2

Crysis 2 - Its all "Look at my shiny graphics, but my story, multiplayer and mechanics suck, but still, SHINY!" (Also what is it with Crytek putting a "Cry" in all of their game name?)

L.A. Noire Complete Edition:

I finally got around to this game and was pretty psyched. Unfortunately the games early missions have almost no gameplay. You can't skip cutscenes and you can't save during missions. When you fail at something, you frequently have to rewatch 1-2 minutes of footage that can't be skipped.

It's like playing a bad version of Heavy Rain mixed in with poor version of Mafia 2. Maybe the game gets better after the first 8 or so missions. But I'll probably never know.

Prototype. The graphics are nothing to write home about, your attacks get interrupted every 5 seconds, the hunters have stupid amounts of health, it's a freaking grind at points, and to be honest any joy you get from slaughtering people en mass tends to vanish after an hour or two. I guess games like that just don't appeal to me.

Vampire Rain. If I hated someone so much that I would want to kill them, I would rethink homicide, and instead gift them this game. There's just... so much badness. And not the good kind of bad, either.
Same here. So glad I watched gameplay videos before deciding whether to buy it or not. Just watching it made me want to break something out of frustration.

I'm not sure if that was specifically a design for the game, or just lazy on the developers part. But one thing's for certain, it's an ugly, ugly game.

Halo. Each Halo game has a special place on my bookshelf and I'm still playing them now... but when I end up playing someone from north or south america...

GOD DAMN IT WHY ARE THERE NO DEDICATED LOCAL SERVERS?!?!?!

If the Americans are hosts of the lobby (which they nearly always are), us Brits have to put up to the 1-2 second delay it takes for our signal to ping across the Atlantic to them. I have to shoot early, and where I think they're gonna' be stood, and even then my first shot is ALWAYS disregarded with a load of sparks, some blood splatter but no actual shield damage.

I despise playing Americans for connection reasons, but by-god will I bag them should we win on their turf.
You hated DMC? Why?

The only reason you gave is that 4 made you backtrack through the whole game. Perfectly valid as that is, it's hardly a reason to hate the WHOLE series. Only one game did it. Though it still wasn't as bad as the complete, boring, terrible mess that was 2.

If you never played 3, you're missing out. DMC3 was the best one. The action in cutscenes was way over the top, the combat was intense and there were some great fights. It was a fairly memorable game with some good exploration in places as well. It's definitely the best in the series.

Risen on the 360 has got to be one of the worst PC ports ever made, which is a shame because the PC version is actually quite decent.

Glitches, terrible graphics, jerky framerate...you get the picture. A great example of lazy downgraded porting.

Which is in fact, the total opposite to the recent 360 Witcher 2 port, which is a great example of a great port that does the PC version justice.

No, because A: We didn't even have voice-acting back then, so it didn't matter and B; The few games that did you were marveled by the fact that they had. You didn't have any form of standard back then.

Resonance of fate. I honestly thought I'd never find a JRPG I didn't like. Then this skidmark came along.
Seriously dude? Next to Xenoblade Chronicles, it's probably the best JRPG of the current gen.
Well, then it appears we like different things and have different opinions. Not a big thing.

PS: No offence, but I personally think Final Fantasy 13 was the best JRPG of this generation. I'm sorry, but do other JRPGS have Vanille? Thought not.

See? We have different opinions. Doesn't make us worth any less, because we don't share the same opinion.

Haven't played Skyrim yet, probably won't until cheap-ass computers are good enough to run it. I played Oblivion and hated it and don't imagine Skyrim to be that much better. Bethesda's games bore me to tears.

Fallout 3 was okay, I guess. It lacked the charm and the humor and all the other cool things about Fallout 1 and 2, and the DLCs were mostly shit, and you had to buy a DLC just to be able to play the game after the ending which I thought was pretty stingy on Bethesda's part. The main quest is just boring, you just do a bunch of fetch quests for the Imperial Legi...er, I mean Brotherhood of Steel and when you get right down to it, it's just a first person shooter with clunky controls.

Fallout New Vegas just plain sucked. It was buggy to the point of being nearly unplayable, ran at about half the speed of Fallout 3 despite being exactly the same game, and the whole thing about picking sides between the different factions was really poorly done. The graphics sucked too. New Vegas is a grey, full-bright eyesore with neon lights taped to it and the worst part is the Caesar's Legion camp which is just a big brown hole in the desert. Geckos with stupid gaping grins run at you with only their legs animated and nothing else, guns are unresponsive and often glitch out, rotating in weird directions until you load a saved game. It seems like something a team of amateur modders would make, not a professionally-made game.

Oh and when you finally get the coolest armor in the game, the Ranger battle armor, the thing you've been waiting for the whole time; guess what? All your guns clip right through the middle of the fucking trench coat because the developers were too lazy to fix it, even after a bazillion updates that introduce more bugs than they fix. Even though they hired some of the original Fallout team, New Vegas is even shittier than Fallout 3.
If you don't like Bethesda's games then why did you buy 3 of em and plan to buy a 4Th? Im a bit con-fuddled

Every game is worth playing, worth paying for..... that's another story.

I don't feel like quoting that fight back there, but Metroid Other M is a game that isn't worth playing. Sure the gameplay can be fun, but the story, the terrible handle on the characters, and the voice acting are cringe-worthy. And the cutscenes last forever. I ended up leaving the game during cutscenes to take piss breaks and watch paint dry - they were so boring and bad as a whole. And not MGS funny-bad, either. Just bad.

Before someone quotes me about pie, keep in mind that M was made around the story, the characters, and the 'universe' that the voices want to pull you into. That and you can't skip cutscenes on the first play-through. There are far better games out there with the same gameplay, and I don't want to have to dig through week-old dirty cat litter to find the shiny marble that represents what could be good about the game.

_
_

Two other games I think people should pass on:

Grandia 3. While Grandia 1 and 2 are brilliant, 3 is a nightmare. You start off with the main character, his mom, and later make friends with this bad ass gambling bandit guy. All are awesome and in league with the first two games. Then you bump into a generic elf named Alfina (not kidding you), and the other bad ass characters in your party leave. Leave you all alone in a world of generic, un-fun characters and some absolutely painful story choices and dialogue. I played through it, beat it, and while the game play is addictive and a jerk as a whole, the end-plot was far more painful than the rest of the story.

... I was so wound up in the whole Metroid Other M thing that I forgot the second game I wanted to rant about. Sadness.

Yeeees, and they did it without a horrible voice-acting that ruined immersion? I mean look at Fallout 2, that had minimal (and yet better than most games at the time) Voice Acting. If they had voice-acted EVERYTHING in the game, and done it as poorly as Other M, It would have been a serious demerit to the game, and depending on other aspects, would have made it bad.
Other M is bad because the rest of it can't carry that horrible story and voice-acting.
