Gears of War. I got tired of the repetition of the second game and my friend insisted that I should play the first game to understand the story, so basically I rushed it.

Also if I wanted to play RPGs again for the story I would just set it to easy.

Most games. I'm all "A challenge? I play games for fun, not to retry something over and over again until I break my controller in frustration!"

I played Killing Floor on easy to start out, but it gets too boring because you would have to try to die..
Also, any game that I want to beat, but don't have the patience for it.

Everything that gives me the choice. :B Hey, I gotta start somewhere! I up the difficulty level after a few playthroughs.

In fact, the one game I played on normal from the beginning was probably Trauma Center 2, but that's because I played Trauma Center 1 immediately before it and was feeling confident (and was correct in my judgement).

I play almost every single-player game now on easy, with a few exceptions. I dont have time to play that often anymore, maybe an hour or two a day at best. So especially for the long games, like Witcher 2 and Dragon Age Origins, I tone down the difficulty so I could see and experience everything without having to pour my life into the game. I do the same for Western Action RPGs and Action Games.

I tone down FPS games (Killzone, Resistance, Borderlands, COD, BF) primarily because I suck at FPS in the first place (with the exception of the Valve games that I willed myself to finish on Normal).

The several exceptions to the rule are varied though. When I play the non-campaign portions of RTS, I keep it at normal and ramp it up when I feel I can. I apply this to Civilization, Age of Empires, Dawn of War and Total War. I go through the campaigns on easy so I could check the difficulty. Japanese RPGs (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, etc) I play on normal because if you play with proper planning, it is relatively easy.

When I play co-op games, I stick to normal. Primarily because I want to hide the inherent shame of admitting that you play on easy. Indie games (Terraria, Magika, Amnesia) I play on normal.

Hmmm, well I'm glad to say I play the Witcher 2 on normal even though I thought it was on easy (mind over matter eh?). As for games I play on easy, hmmm... Fallout 3 and NV because I wanted everything to die from one anti-material rifle shot. That's it I think.

EDIT: oops I lied, I also play Prototype on easy just cause I'm not very good at it. I have played Bioshock and Serious Sam HD First Encounter on easy too but they were both ridiculously easy and I later played them on normal with ease.

I played Oblivion and Morrowind on easy my early playthroughs. Of course, I had cheats up the bunghole in Oblivion, so it was more like super easy. I also played through AoM on easy. Latter on, I realized that the campaign was perfectly playable at medium difficulty, but the skirmishes are literally unwinnable for me if they aren't on easy... which is too easy. You can probably see why I stopped playing AoM skirmishes.

Every game you can die in.

How would you feel if you had to read a whole chapter again in a book whenever you briefly lost track of where on the page you were?
I'd feel like the storytelling medium was an interactive one.

I play Half Life 2 on easy when it comes to the part with the striders. When I finally beat them on hard mode once, it was like an orgasmic experience for me.

I play Minecraft on peaceful usually because I don't like having to go inside during the night so I don't accidentally stumble across a creeper and blow up a large portion of my house.

I can't remember the last time I played something on easy. It isn't something I do often, I am confident enough in my own abilities to challenge myself and I prefer to learn by jumping in the deep end.

Oblivion and Fallout. I don't know about all of you, but I don't play those for the challenge. It's the freedom of choice I like.
I'd like to agree with this statement as well.

I generally play my RPG's on easy (Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Dragon Age, etc), simply because I don't play them for the challenge like I would, say, an FPS. When I take time to go around the wasteland, exploring every nook and cranny, there is nothing that takes me out of the game more than having to plant 8+ rounds into a Raider's head to take him or her down.
