I don't think I've ever quit a game due to it's learning curve. I'm usually one to tough it out and appreciate the game for what it is.

I still play it some times, but more often then not I cant even get my plane off the ground, that is one hard game.

Savage II was really difficult, so I stopped playing. I mean, you'd like to be able to at least contribute to your team after two weeks of playing...

Never really had a game I couldn't beat.....but the toughest boss fight I ever had was against Necron on Final Fantasy 9. No matter what abilities I gave my party, he would always break through. But back to subject, no I never really had a game with a hard learning curve, it's always the end of the game.

I've been clearing out my desk draws and found two games: X2 - The Threat and X3 - Reunion. I played a little of X2 only to put it down, because it felt like having a second job. The funny thing is X3 is still in the shrink wrap and can't even remember why I bought it in the first place.

What are the games you quit playing, due to the learning curve?
The latest Prince Of Persia because there isn't one.

To everyone who said Dead Rising, it becomes quite easy once you learn where things are. Pick up the blade book from the book shop in Wonderland Plaza. Trust me, it helps a lot.

On topic, I don't think I've ever quit a game because of a learning curve. I tend to stick things out 'till they're finished/I'm bored of them.
I'd go so far as to say that Dead Rising has a reversed learning curve. A learning slide if you will. It's steep at first but once you learn how to climb it, it's a fun, gentle slope from then on.

Rune. I was so lost in the combat that I shelved it for two years before trying it again out of desperation. Don't really know if it qualifies as quitting, since I did start again a few years afterwards, but it's a great example of a game with a steep learning curve. Hell, I still haven't mastered the combat, and it was released in 2000.

Dead Rising and Pikmin. They were fun, and I mean a lot of fun. But an ingame time limit that never goes away? If I liked deadlines hanging over my head, I'd go write my term paper, not procrastinate playing a game. Catch my drift?
reasonable i guess that did get annoying you couldnt just beat the living shit out of zombies all you wanted you had time limit which was gay

I'm going to say Battle for Middle Earth II online. Now i have played many games like this, but on the PC. So I decided oh, RTS can't be that bad for the console. So i went and got it for my 360. Played thru the campaign a little and found it rather enlightening. so then I hop online and find that I really had no clue what I was doing. since then I have not touched it.

I might have mentioned this game, because initially when I bought it, it was impossible and it sat on my shelf after an un-installation. Anyway I learned that game finally (to prove to myself that when I bought it new, it wasn't a waste of $50), and now it' not so hard a game just a very taxing game (onerous is the word), but still fun because I liked it on a personal note.

Anyway one I honestly gave up was:
O.R.B (Off-world research base).. maybe I just didn't give it enough time (4 hours).

But I'm surprised no one has mentioned "Riven: The Sequel to Myst". Without the strategy guide (defeats the purpose) I could not gain any headway in that game and could only feel like a chimp holding a grenade, wondering wtf I was supposed to do with it.

I would also mention 7th guest or 11th hour, but I did manage to understand "most" of those two titles over time... never finished either though...

Fallout 3 at first because when I first started playing it I thought I was trapped in an vault(first fallout game) and I found the gun system klunky... After a while though I restarted playing it, got use to the controls, got out of the vault and its just been awsome from here on out.

Well, thats not so much the learning curve for me, more the poor quality of the game itself. Or rather, the fact they switched your role from 'interstellar Emperor' to 'interstellar accountant'. MOO2 was alot better and easier to learn.
Agreed wholeheartedly, worst purchase I made based on a franchise ever made. :(

MOO2 was "I want this colony to build this."
MOO3 was "I want to appoint an administrator who will develop agriculture and maybe build the building I want built, and it will take 2 turns to pass a bill to appoint someone new, and then I have to move this guy over there, and...asdfjasdklfjasf"

But yeah, I haven't quit any game because it was too hard to learn.
I have quit based on difficulty though (I was terrible at jagged alliance 2)

X3 I never played though.
EVE I quit for other reasons, though it was kinda hard to get the hang of at first...

I dunno.

SimCity 2000.

It's almost like someone was staying up late in the Treasury having a bonfire every night.

I stopped playing Guilty Gear X2 for a while because I could not do half the shit my friends were. But I have been practicing latly and STILL can't beat Slayer for an easy win, he makes me work for it like Sagat does
