anygame that is based on real things, included:
call of duty
civilazation

i think they are respectfull frangises but i simply dont play games to experience real life
i want incredible things, things i know i will never get to do, thats why kingdom hearts is my favorite game ever, thats my dream life

and then i just dont dig the strategy type of game, take CIV for example, i would much more prefer to be a soldier in cesars army then cesar itself
but thats just me, i dont know if that makes me a follower or simply a lowner

I don't have respect for it, per sé, however, I'm going to say Left 4 Dead 2 because I get bored with it so quickly. It's a multi-player game, I know, but honestly; once I've played through it a few times; that's it, I can't take it anymore.
I know of one or two people where that is legit all that they play and constantly do so. I just don't understand it! A few play throughs, even on other modes, for example, playing as one of the infected (even though if you get shot once, that's you dead), I am bored out of my mind.
I prefer playing with my friends, of course, but I just want to get out of it in no time at all. Another thing about it is that I am in no way a competitive person either and some of the other people online would just drive me insane by taking it far too seriously, hence my preference to play with people I know personally.
That's the only one that I can think of at the top of my head. I do like it to some degree, just not nearly as much as a lot of people. Perhaps I'm just not a FPS person. Eh.

A lot of people have already said Starcraft, and I'm going to have to say that as well. I respect what the game has done for gaming itself, however RTS' have never been my thing.

I agree with Mass Effect. I just can't be arsed.
But it's the same with most games, and a lot of the time it's cos I don't wanna spend money on games (I buy games every few months or so.)

Minecraft, many of my mates say it's fantastic and I don't want to play it but I respect it for what it has achived.
Pokemon, I think it's a fantastic game, just don't want to play it.
Final Fantasy, apparently it was what made RPGs popular in the west, I have tried to play it but then decided not to.

Killzone but I have an Xbox, so they're kind of beyond me. Still, we have Halo and Gears.

Most RTS games. I respect them, I've given them a try and honestly a lot of them are pretty good however the main problem is that... I'm not very good at them. I've played just about every RTS I've been able to, tried them out and such however I just get to a certain point in the campaign where I just can't get past it. I just can't finish that mission at all because I ain't good enough. So I tend not to play them anymore, with Starcraft, never played the first though I hear the second games is pretty good though I've not played it.

Ho and the Street Fighter games, I respect those as well and I do have Street Fighter II SUPER HD (or what ever, the one you can get on xbl) and I do play it from time to time however, as above, I'm just not very good at it so I don't bother with it. I like the franchise, I like the characters (Specially Sagat) but I just can't play them with any sort of skill no matter how hard I try. This probably extends to most fighting games however I've found street fighter the hardest to the point that its almost unplayable for me where as the rest (Tekken, MK, VF, DOA) I've been able to slug my way through them.

That being said, fighting games sort of have an excuse, they're (mostly) made for arcades and thus made difficult so you have spend more coins in them, specially the earlier ones.

Oblivion

I have tried and tried but in the end I gave up, everyone loves it and I want to love it but it makes it impossible with the stupid guards who randomly know you are a thief...I think I'll give Skyrim a chance

Any and all fighting games, I'm rubbish at them, so I don't play them. But I don't rubbish them simply because of my lack of ability.

Left 4 Dead, I want to like it but I just don't. I cant't put my finger on it either, because I love co-op. Same with Borderlands, I just can't get into to it.

I love Killing Floor and Monster Hunter Tri is probably in the top 5 of my favorite games of all time. Make of it what you will.

The ARMA games. I loved Operation Flashpoint, and these games have basically been another step toward realism. But I just feel like it would take such a large time investment for me to be decent at them, so I haven't given them more than a couple of hours each.

I really like what they're doing with these games though.

Persona series & Catherine: from what I hear they're making games dealing with serious and mature matters and I approve of that. But from what I've seen I don't really identify with any of the characters, they're having problems that are quite different in nature then the ones I come across. Of course this is all based on what small things I have read about these games, I've never played them and likely never will.

Lots of RTS games: Great games and I approve of more tactical decisions in games, but I just can't multi-task like that and I find it no fun at all.

EvE Online. I love hearing about all the cool corporate espionage and sabotage and how there are actual driving forces behind the players. Thing is the more I look into it the more tedious it looks.

Most of Nintendo's flagship franchises: Mario, Zelda, and Metroid.

Never finished a single game in any of these franchises. I am no good at platformers and got frustrated and quit every Mario game I have attempted. And all the Zelda and Metroid games got boring for me after a few hours.

That said, I deeply respect these games and the part they played in the history and development of video games as a whole. I just could never bring myself to enjoy them.

Same with Portal, thought it was groundbreaking when I played it, but got bored and never finished it.

BRINK. I played the free weekend and really enjoyed it, but can't justify 40 bucks on it so I never bought it.
But it was 50% off during the free weekend. Why didn't you take the chance?
Even with the 50% off, it was $40. So I really didn't think it would be worth it when I have so many other games to play.

Perhaps Wow. I have never played it and most likely will not ever play it, but I respect the game and the game makers for making such a successful game.
