Now if only GameStop would distribute some of that 2.28 billion to its employees and stop treating them like shit.
I agree, makes me wonder sometimes... I've heard some terrible stories from their ex-employee's.

Interesting...

I'm curious to see how this business pans out.

Y'know, I wish all this digital-distribution competition would take the form of competitive pricing rather than bloody exclusives. Exclusives do nothing but inconvenience the customer. I'm sick of them.

See, if I really wanted to get Battlefield 3 and didn't feel inclined to go for the boxed retail version, I don't see why I would choose Impulse over EA's own Origin store.

(How very Kamen Rider Blade)

I wonder if it'll get to the point where Gamestop will allow you to trade in used games for online currency/only online currency/store credit
Unlikely because digital copies have no value. There is an infinite number of copies that can be downloaded.

I facepalm you, good sir. Don't talk if you don't know.
Lets face it the PC crowd is pissed off because of lack of dedicated servers, cant deny that. After the first few months mw2 had somewhere around 900,000 sales on the pc and was pirated over 5,000,000 times, again cant deny that.
Yep. And yet most still ***** about them not caring.

Really? They don't care about a community that will pirate the game when you do something they don't like? WHAT A FUCKING SURPRISE!!

It'd send a bigger message to, you know, just not fucking have anything to do with the thing. the thing. Not buy it, not pirate it, nothing. Then they can't blame anyone but themselves for the shitty sales. Even though they'd try...

Which Digital Distro platform do you feel you want to support.
A: The one owned by an independent developer, with a long track record for quality games, and post-purchase support, and has paved a venue for independent developers to market their work.
B: The one who's digital right's come with an offer of the right to redownload for 10 extra dollars on top of the purchase price.
C: The company who diverts money from the people that actually make the games so that they can throw up more buildings where they try to shove overpriced useless accessories, guides and warranties down your throat(that they will try their damndest to dodge supporting if they think they can).

Great way to ensure that BF3 will not make significant impact on the FPS scene. First the exclusive retailer weapons DLC, then saying no to modding, now not releasing the game on the most popular digital distribution platform for PC gamers...

Im sure the PR guys already have a speech about why the game failed ready.

Is Steam a milkshake or a pie? Make up your mind!
Well, it's Gabe Newell, so it's probably both. ZING.

OT: Not even surprised.

Just trying to analyze... So, BF3 is not available on Steam, but MW3 will be. So on PC MW3 won already.
EA don't know jack...
Its already been proven that the PC crowd doesnt give a fuck about call of duty and activision doesnt give a fuck about the PC crowd. When your game is pirated on the PC five times more then it is actually purchased then that crowd can do fuck themselves.
Starcraft, Starcraft 2, Warcraft 3, World of Warcraft, Diablo 2, Diablo 3, and let's not forget that every Call of Duty has been on the top seller list on Steam. I don't agree with everything that Activision does, but I'm not about about to say that Activision doesn't care about the PC crowd. If it's been pirated so much, I think that only proves how many people want to play their games but think they're too fucking good to have to pay for such a lowly shooter.

Why Gamestop?! You were one of the good ones...
Since when was Gamestop one of "the good ones"?
Since they were the biggest player in the used market that keeps physical media alive. Digital Distribution will lead to higher prices because shelf space is not an issue. Shelf space is why games go to the clearance bin. Also, there is no used market for DD games.

Why did you make me think of gwen stefani escapist, have you no shame, no modicum of human decency?

Competition for steam? This can only mean even better sales and VALVe might even hire a customer support team, just think of what that might do.

Eh, the used market (and Gamestop) could die tomorrow, and the gaming landscape would be better for it. They're a vampire sucking at the neck of the industry.

From a gamer's perspective I still don't see the big deal about buying games from one digital platform instead of another. It's not like I have to drive farther for one than for another; they're all right there in front of me.

As for GameStop vs. Steam, Steam is the big dog but GameStop is already a multi-billion-dollar company, so it can bring a lot of resources to bear in the fight, not to mention the fact that it can coordinate its digital efforts with retail-level advertising and programs that Steam cannot. That's a potentially huge weapon.

You're wrong, the used market has helped this industry grow and without it, the industry would shrink.

This is true, I have bought from Steam, Impulse, D2D and GOG.

Not coming to steam eh? That's alright - D2D should be able to give me a good discount. They sell download codes for EA's store as well (That's how I got BFBC2 for cheap).

If not, sure I'll use Origin. I won't like using it, but if that's the only way I can get a digital copy, then so be it. I'm NOT buying from EB games or GAME.
