/facepalm.

Gay idiot is still an idiot.

Even as a gay man myself I agree that an option should have been put in to turn off homosexual content - it'd be nice if homosexuality was accepted universally but it is not and the LGBT community and it's supporters should not try and force it on people. The lack of an option to turn off homosexual content was an oversight rather than by design, and the designers should not be hated on for it. As for the aggressive sexual attitudes of in-game characters - is it just Anders who is aggressive? If so, out of all of the characters in-game, one would be a realistic representation of what many of us face each day. The fact it comes from a gay character is the 'problem' in some peoples eyes, idiot included.

Food for thought; the amount of aggressive sexual behavior I encounter (from straight male gamers) playing online games as a female character makes Anders look like a real gentleman ;)

Wow, stupidity points gained. The guy who filed that petition needs to get a life.

With how BioWare has been weathering the overacting hate it has been getting from people, on non-relationship areas of the game, it isn't going to flinch on the overreacting on this.

BioWare has done what is should, ignore everything bad said about DA2, except the severe cases, then BioWare beats them senseless with wisdom.

Didn't Mass Effect 2 remove gay relationships? I know that ME1 had 'em.

Complain about that.

Anyway, I haven't gotten rivalry points for spurning the advances of either of them.
You do get rivalry points(+15 If I'm remembering correctly) with Anders if you choose the lowest option that shows the broken heart. I believe that can be avoided if you choose the joking let down option. The +15 rivalry didn't matter to me, because there was enough non-relationship things that I used to gain back his friendship.

The guy is obviously blowing things way out of proportions.

You would have learnt to talk by listening to people. Sorry for the smart ass comment.

Well maybe they come up and kiss you, not because they're gay, but because they're European. I've seen that happen loads of times. But in all seriousness it can't be that offensive, it is probably a little crude and weird but I doubt it is bad enough to get a man fired from his job. The man probably has a wife and a family who he needs to support, and due to new age standards its already hard as hell to make a visually appealing game with a great story line. But for someone to want him to be fired, so he cant support himself or his family, so he loses his position in a large company, very possibly ruins his career and more just because someone doesn't like how certain people of a sexual orientation are depicted. I think that is pretty mean and unjustified, the homosexual man could write a letter or he could get an interview with a magazine about his thoughts. But there is no reason to ruin a mans life just because you find something slightly offensive. The Pikachus from Pokemon didn't try to ruin a man's life just because he depicted them all the same color with the same voice, although that would be funny.

Most of the comments from GayGamer are that they do not support this guy and his actions against the writer.

Wow, really? Really? This convinces me that people are slowly becoming more and more retarded and/or spoiled rotten as the years go on. This is the first game that GIVES them male gay romances that I know of, and they still complain?

Entitlement much? Go fight for a worthy cause, you morons, like, you know, marriage rights or something. Sorry, I'm not normally this mean, but dear god, the people that play games have to be the most spoiled ass people in the world.

I see this as two opposing issues really.

First, can we as consumers directly interact with game developers and force them to censor their games? I say hell no. If you want a game to be made your way, make it yourself otherwise don't buy the game and if you were so disgusted with the product, boycott the company.

Second, there's the issue of controversial topics in the budding media of games. Movies, books, art, and just about everything else has touched controversial topics, but are games to be excluded. Maybe that's not the point though, maybe it was just the way homosexuality was perceived in the game. Maybe the writer hasn't encountered many homosexuals and is basing homosexuals on the filters of other media. If that's the case, then the writer only needs some enlightenment.

Either way, I respect bioware for including it in their game and trying to handle this in a mature manner.

Anders statled me when we had the make out scene I thought he was raher quick to jumping on the love wagon... Isabella wanted a roll in the hay, merrill I got her to move in 3 years after we met..Varric's cool and I don't know why every one hates the characters I find them well crafted for what they are.

yeah I disagree with the rivalry points for turning him down but everything had to be an option for either good or bad like Yahtzee once said everything is either mother terresa or baby eating. a great game will have some middle ground.

Isn't that what every character in a Bioware game ever is like? Gay or straight, romance has always been pretty ham handed and token, especially in their sequels.

And to be fair, it's up to them how they want to explore issues of sexuality in their games.

Just wait for the next game to come out this year what is it? Portal 2? Yeah I think that's right anyway wait for that to come out and everyone will focus their attention on trolling that.

I'm sure then robots will complain to Valve for stereotyping robots or something

An Albanian proverb goes: "There will be wolves in any forest" (Rough translation). Sadly gay forests (Ok, the analogy got a little strange there) are no different.

yeah i can totally see where their coming from, im a gay male and being branded with this stereotype that all gays reluctantly come on to hetero's is really annoying especially when it causes people to become uncomfortable around you, but to say he should be fired for it.

but i do understand the way he must be.

Qwery me this, Gay Gamers: Would you prefer then there were no gay romances?
I think Anders was the only agressive one (Fenris was fine to leave me be), and that was more due to his personallity in this game, rather than his homosexuality. This only proves that Bioware fans will never be happy, no matter what you give them.
If anything, I think Anders aggressiveness had little to do with his orientation but rather his circumstance and personality. Yes, it was annoying but I've given this some thought. He just lost a lover and the only connection he had to feeling normal. It was pretty much his last personal connection to another human being. He is in trauma, already feeling alientated twice for being a mage and being possessed.

He finally sees a person who is an attractive equal. Not a victim needing healing, a templar needing a beating, but an honest to Maker badass. Somebody he hasn't seen the likes of since Awakening. He is stressed and just wants to feel normal, feel affection, so if you say the combination of things, he leaps at the chance to be with you.

What I find funny is this gay gamer doesn't seem to realize that Anders will hit on a female just as hard but I don't see women lining up to fire Gaiden over it. HOW DARE GAIDEN PORTRAY MEN AS FLIRTATIOUS!!!

This about as stupid as it gets!

As far as I'm aware (haven't tried all romances yet) you get rivalry points from every character if you don't flirt with them.

Anders is just one choice you can have a gay romance with, and be gratful there are any gay romance options at all, Bioware are one of (if not the only) company that regularly give the player a choice of straight/gay romance options in their games, and this guy wants to fire one of them???

This guy, gay or not is acting stupidly and has proved the point that no matter how hard you try, there is always going to be one whiney little pansey in the background complaining.
