Personally, I'm glad that trash was destroyed. Honestly, it sounds like something that would be watched by only the extremely depraved, and the director goes and enters it into an international film festival? For me, there's a difference between art and garbage. And this one deserved its fate.

Yeah, maybe it was wrong to try to outright destroy it. (Freedom of expression and all that) But seriously,

"homosexual sex, full-frontal male nudity, and necrophilia."

There is nothing in that quote that suggests this film would be anything above crap. And furthermore, the world is better off without it.

Seems like a wildly stupid movie designed to push buttons. It's almost certainly not artistically significant. But I don't believe in censorship, so those who want to see it, should have the right to do so regardless of what the government thinks.

did i just read ''La Zombie "stars a French porn star as a schizophrenic homeless man who believes he is a cannibalistic ghoul," and depicts homosexual sex, full-frontal male nudity, and necrophilia.'' wtf is wrong with these critics? cant they tell a zombie from a hobo?!

well anyway, sounds like a interesting film.

Sure, this article could be about free speech, government censorship or police brutality... but I really think it's about Australia's law enforcement's ineptitude. I mean it took them four months to get to it? Wtf?

Sounds like someone's trying to compete with A Serbian FilmWarning: Don't watch that film. In fact, don't even go to Wikipedia to read about the plot. Trust me on this one.

Well, next time perhaps you should try breaking your neck too then.

I seriously don't give a fuck. I DON'T WANT TO SEE THIS MOVIE, THUS I DON'T CARE. Well done, Aussie coppers. That's one less tasteless and disgusting movie on our shelves.

And principles be damned. Who cares about freedom of speech when you're advocating shit like this?

And I'm sure all the gay necrophiliacs are really disappointed, but, call me crazy, I don't really care about them...

Yeeeeeah. Very much of two minds on this; I'm not a big fan of state censorship, but if there was ever a film designed to be banned in as many jurisdictions as possible it has to be this one.

Well, I wouldn't be watching it anyway banned or not... so maybe I should oppose its destruction. But still... a film with less artistic merit than an ad spot for Hooters isn't one I really want to go to bat for. I think I'll pick a better fight in the name of freedom of expression than this drek.

Is it wrong that I googled imaged La Zombie?
Also, this seems....strange. I understand that Austrailia is a censored-up-the-wazoo place but seriously? Although the director is to blame for making it.

Tee-hee, you hate freedom where the subject personally offends you.
Sometimes moral-relativism falls short in the face of simple universal truths, eh?

So basically what your saying is that freedom of speech is good unless you are offended by said speech?
What annoys me more is that Dance of the Dead head full on heterosexual zombie sex and that didn't get a mention.
That scene is scarred into my brain however...

Artistically Significant... Ha.

Seriously though, destroying things you don't like is bad. Unless it is trying to destroy you.

Oh please, like you didn't already know that everything would be peachy-keen if the movie had more tits and less dong. EDIT: Ok, in Australia it wouldn't be, but we wouldn't have the supposed enlightened younger generation reacting to it like Midwestern Soccer Moms.

I'm pretty sure plenty of artsy films get along just fine with straight sex, full-frontal female nudity and *peculiar sex acts of your choosing*.

OT: Australia is quickly destroying my mental image of an extremely chilled back place to live.
