Slightly off topic, but I'm considering buying the GotY edition of Borderlands (retail). Ignoring Duke, is it worth the £15?
If a game can rely solely on loot-whoring, multiplayer with friends, and a dash of obnoxious humor, then yes.

RPG mechanics and story are nonexistent.

I had fun with it personally, but it's not one I recommend for everybody.

O Rely?

Yeah I figured out they were cool after I played Half-Life Opposing Forces...
Opposing Force was pretty cool. Although I want to never want to remember that other expansion pack from them ever again.

OT: I really think Gearbox is going out of their way to give gamers hope in Duke Nukem. I'm at least glad they're trying.
What? Blue Shift?
No...

NO!

Thats not really fair to 360 owners such as myself, I bought the game, accidentley broke it, and then bought it again. But just because I didn't buy it at the right time I don't get the demo while all the steam users do... sigh.
For a long time now, us PC guys rarely get any love like this... so while it does suck, its nice to be remembered by some developers every now and then.
PC gamers get awesome things all the time from developers. They get a ton of DLC that 360 users have to pay for because Microsoft is so stingy. Not to mention the modding community is awesome. Good thing I have some awesome pc games I just wish I could get into the Duke Nukem demo without having to buy the game a third time.

I would love gearbox if anything that they did was the slightest bit good, and not mediocre + mind-bogglingly juvenile.
I have to know what some of your favorite games are. The curiosity is killing me.
Morrowind, TF2, Men of War, Neverwinter Nights, Mount and Blade, Supreme Commander, Sins of a Solar Empire, Star Wars Battlefront, Mechanarium, and Samerost. Why do you ask?

EDIT: And pre-firepower Shattered Horizon. RIP :(
I just had to see what someone who's willing to dismiss Borderlands as "mind-bogglingly juvenile" considers to be mature entertainment.
I think you misunderstand me my good sir. I do not dismiss Borderlands because it is mind-bogglingly juvenile. That makes me go "Really? Really now?", but it does not warrent dismissal. Rather the piss-poor gunplay, combined with the piss-poor RPG elements, combined with a piss-grindy singleplayer, combined with an even pissier and grindier multiplayer, combined with the mind-boggling juvenility is what warrants dismissal. Not even sure why I played it to the end - if I knew the ending I sure wouldn't have.

Anyway, do my 'good game selections' appease you?
No. Cause you're still hating on an awesome game.
Well then.

Happy talking with you.
I know it wasn't directed to me but I'd just like you to know that while I love Borderlands along with Neverwinter Nights and Star Wars Battlefront as you mentioned (I'd love if my lapto could run Mount and Blade, but actually never checked the requirements-I need to do that) and don't care for the other games you mentioned, particularly TF2, I support your feelings towards Borderlands and the other games (particularly TF2) since what we like is subjective from person to person. As long as everyone is able to find the kind of game they like, we're in a good spot as gamers.

How boring would it be if everyone liked only game genre X and that is all there was? Besides, let's say for example we were to make a game, you could take what you like about TF2 and I could take what I like about Borderlands and expand on those and make a great game.

Basically, what I'm saying is that the other poster didn't need to try and bust your balls because you didn't like a game he did. It's not only juvenile, it's one of the things that gives gamers the bad public reputation we have and something that really needs to be worked on.

You wish more expansion packs were painfully short, copies the original game in a way that makes the formula 10 times less enjoyable, offers nothing new, and almost feels pointless at the end when you really reflect on what was accomplished in the game? Opposing Force is a much better example of a good expansion pack.

1. thats my opinion
2. I agree with you that it was definitely too short, but I really enjoyed seeing the different parts of Black Mesa, and as with Opposing Forces telling the story through different eyes and I was referring to both Blue Shift and Opposing Forces as a whole, by telling a story through different perspectives, other then the main character, like that would be cool if they did a HL2 one where they did Barney again, while Freeman's going out and kicking ass, hes infiltrating the Combine.

Duke Nuken is set to release February 1st. I'm not trying to insult the thread itself. It's Duke Nukem threads in general. I've seen a few threads on other sites where people still think Duke Nukem's release is a sick joke, and the back and forth of "It really is coming out" and "This is just a lie" Is getting sick. If it doens't happen in the thread, great! But that isn't normally how a Duke Nukem thread goes
Actually, there's no official release date, yet.

Can't wait for the demo! :O

True, true... I guess I was thinking how lately I have to wait to get games on the PC since they come out on the 360 and/or PS3 so much earlier now. But I guess we do get a lot of free stuff free.

I do agree, it is a matter of opinion. So, since I'm lazy, I'll let someone else say my opinion for me.

I don't usually agree 100% with a review, but this is an exception.
