When I think Gearbox, I think Opposing Force.

I've got a good feeling about this.

"Salvage enough interest in the game".

From what I understand, almost everyone on the internet will buy this game.
I can understand why people will want to buy the most infamous game in the market's history.
But any future sequels will have to stand on their own merits, and I can only see that happening if DNF doesn't suck.

and if it doesn't, it still will go down in history as 'DNF' as in Did Not Finish.

Duke's in good hands with Gearbox, given the strict diet I have right now of Borderlands and how awesome Opposing Force was, they can pull it off much better than 3D Realms ever did and they can actually release a game on time.

I'd say that a long wait, cancelling it and then returning with a different developer "salvages enough interest in the game".
I doubt many will buy this game, unless alot of reviews say its awesome beyond HL2, or some such. Which is doubtful, as it strongly seems to be a brown generic FPS.
Doesn't brown generic FPS's sell pretty well these days?

Beyond that, it's impossible to say where this non-stop debacle is headed; Gearbox appears to have big plans, referring to DNF ....
DNF doesn't that stand for did not finish?

Gearbox is a good team but I hope they don't take this as an opportunity to mess around with Duke Nukem too much.

They make it sound like Duke Nukem is some stellar franchise up there with the greats like Super Mario. Did I miss something? Last time I checked Duke Nukem was never that good.

Can't wait for this game. From what I've seen of the PAX demo, this game looks hilarious and awesome at the same time.

The majority of people like generic FPS games. That's why they sell. Duke Nukem is a generic FPS with LOTS of publicity. Therefor, it is likely to sell.
True...

12 years of hype from an awesome series of games.
Its going to sell like crack in detroit
Well, not so much 'hype' as a saga of mismanagement and vapourwarism.

It would have felt better with Epic games manning the wheel of such an testosteron packed franschise but I guess Gearbox will do too.

Well yeah, it looks a bit brown, but it's certainly not taking itself seriously at all. I think I'd probably check it out based on that alone...

Money well spent? Ok gearbox, show me what ya got. Make good games out of played out forgotten IPs. Anyone care to guess the price for "the full rights to duke". I certainly hope they got a sizable "dukecount". They better have a demo though becuase if the game doesn't make me "Have to own it" in the first 30minutes I'm not gonna bother.

AND WHO ELSE REALLY THINK THIS IS JUST THE MOST ELABORATE PRANK IN THE WHOLE HISTORY OF VIDEO GAMES!?
Valve: G-Man and Duke are the same person! HL2:E3 release timed to coincide with DNF.

In its heyday I believe it was comparable to Quake or maybe even Doom in its popularity. I didn't like it that much but I know lots of people who did. I don't know about when it was a platformer.

You know... after all this daffness, insanity, and stupidity that has been the DNF development saga, I wouldn't be totally surprised if this happened.
