While I realize that game devs have in fact done this kind of thing for other people as well, this tribute really gets to me, because they broke character and gave a direct eulogy to Michael. It's one thing to have a quest made about your life, it's another to have them speak directly to you

wow......just wow. Suddenly all the respect I lost for Gearbox with their Duke Nukem PR bs has returned with this move. Good job Gearbox, nice to see this side of you (lets hope we don't have to see that other side [Duke PR nonsense] again.
Gearbox always seems to oscillate between being a developer that puts out some pretty stupid PR, and tries to tell people that Duke Nukem was actually a good game bu nobody got it, to a developer that makes genuinely cool games and does stuff like this without making a big deal out of it to try and get some PR. Much respect to them for this move, even if it means they confuse the hell out of me all the more.

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet:

Gearbox are just nice (and funny) people I guess.

I don't need any more reasons to buy this game but this is just another good reason I'll buy Borderlands 2 :) keep it up Gearbox and I might just forgive you for Duke Nukem Forever... oh what the hell props Gearbox you are now forgiven

Gearbox is awesome. They're becoming my favorite devs too. Right up there with Q Games and Q Entertainment... and Gearbox doesn't even have a 'Q' in the name.
But I already knew they cared about the fans. At a time where we're getting $15 map packs and $20 mission packs from other devs, Gearbox crams in a hell of a lot of content for $10 of dlc.

Very, very touching. I can't commend Gearbox enough for this - it's not about devs and fans - it's about person to person. A respect for a person's life no matter how tenuously you are connected. There are a lot of ordinary people that could take a leaf out of this book.

Hold the bus, did Sony get in on this too? Or is this just a coincidence :S Either way I like to think it was deliberate.

I thought this was quite an old ad (at least over a month old) but if it does relate to this late gamer, that's pretty decent. Any way to confirm that, I wonder.

More devs need to do stuff like this.

The only ones I every see do this type of thing are gearbox, bungie, and very rarely valve.
