I totally afree with you on your point its about damn time some company finishes their franchise storyboards before they even think about doing a sequal.

... Dayum.

I think Gears of War may be the only series where the male character lose clothes after each game and the females gain more covering.

Why would they let it die, might as well drive another successful game series into the ground. I think we could all learn from God of War on this one.

I wouldn't mind seeing Aspho Fields or any of the other flashback stuff from Karen Traviss' work show up in a game, on the other hand. Perhaps an explanation of exact events of E. Day as well.

The massively disappointing thing is this, it would then be like Halo: Reach. You told a story that everyone who gave a damn about the Halo Universe already knew. It was fun, but it lacked the impact it could have had were there not plenty of source material on it.
To be fair, Halo: Reach's story wasn't about Reach, they said in the advertising that you know the end. It's about(at least to me anyways)Noble team and what they do to help, like how ODST wasn't about New Mombassa getting glassed, it was about the ODST team, just like Reach is about Noble team. Thier victories and their sacrifices that all ended up being in vain except for two:Carter's and Noble 6's.

Keep dreaming. Ending a franchise that makes money is like killing a goose that lays golden eggs.

Anyways, Im still hoping for my,

Having *insert impossible task that saves everyone and wins the war*, Delta team (Marcus, Dom, Cole, and Baird) are in a King Raven flying away. Suddenly, the King Raven is shot down. All 4 team mates survive, only for them to realize they are surrounded by surviving Locust forces. They realize also, that they are not going to survive this, so they grab their Lancers, rev the chainsaws and ready themselves for their last stand...

To which then as the end credits roll, you (and three others if playing Co-op) than play a horde mode to the death, which will only end with everyone's death (basically like the ending of Halo: Reach).

Thats how I want the story to end, in a blaze (and literal blood bath) of GLORY!!!

As long as Gears 3 ends without a cliff hanger, Im fine with branching the story line off.

Theres nothing wrong with leaving a few loose ends the can be built on. Having a universe devoid of mystery just kills the appeal some games hold. Gears, although not the most thought provoking, was one of those games that held my attention with its story, characters, and gameplay.

Just dont give us some bullshit ending that can be interpreted as "theres gonna be a Gears 4". Kinda like what Halo 3 did. They gave no closure to his story.
I prefer endings where we can imagine the fate of the characters without the creator's concent, sort of how Lost ended, anyway Master Chief's dna was passed all around the universe curing every unknown disease that the covenant have unleashed in the galaxy, thats my conclusion for chief.

I am not going for Gears 3, the second one was utter twaddle. I cant face playing anyore games in brown and gun-metal grey. I might give Brink a try as it seems to have some colour.

All I remember from Gears two is crappy vehicle sections and a rubbish end boss
The first gears of war's end boss felt so much more challenging, beating that sonv'a'***** on insane is one of my greatest gaming victories.

Questions I want answered:

What's on the disk Baird is trying to crack?
Where did the Locust come from?
Where did the Lambent come from?
What is Prescott hiding?
Why is Andrew still alive?
What information did Andrew have that caused Marcus to bail?
Why does the Locust Queen know Marcus and his father?
What were the Sires meant for?

Answer all those questions, and I'll be happy with the ending. I have my own theories--such as humans created the Locust or caused the Lambent infection--but I want to see if I'm right on any of them. Also, I'd like Dom to find out that his children are still alive somewhere, though I doubt we'll get to see that.
I have an idea about the where the locust came from, the humans were drilling that fuel stuff that was in the first gears, most of it cracked into locust cities and infected most of their people so the locust had to flee above ground, so basicaly they are trapped in between fighting the humans above ground and escaping the lambent underneath.

You know what, as long as it's not the bullshit kind of 'conclusion' that God of Shit 3 left me with, I'll be happy.

Essentially, just make sure to follow THROUGH with the promise of 'concluding' a story and you'll have some happy gamers.

Oh agreed, The General guy was great at least he was recognisable as an antagonist as opposed to a generic monster

Hmmm, I wouldn't mind if they make a game from the Locust perspective.

Wait... Gears of War has a story?

Oh yeah, now I remember. It was the worst aspect of the whole game.
Really? I thought it worked well enough despite Cole's massive stereotypeing and I'm not going to conclude my judgment until I clear Gears 3.

You know what I hate? Utterly generic and parroted complaints about the colours in a game, drives me up the wall.

When it comes to stories, especially those concerning something on a grand scale, there's always something left to tell.

Am I the only person here that actually enjoyed these games? Well single player anyways, mulitplayer need constant overhauls when I played it. Everyone I see in here is just complaining. Besides that, looks like I'll be dusting off the old 360.

Okami? wait... okami-den... ummmmm. Limbo? oh god, I have NEVER, to my memory, played a game that hasn't had a fucking sequel. that is an issue.

And I reeaaallly hope they don't go the way of halo. Reach sucked several very large cocks (god, it was so lame) and although ODST was one of the more stylized and really, really well done games with good storytelling, cool plot and setting, and a slightly different gameplay style that I found madly enjoyable... it was just so short.

If gears does that, I can see nothing good (even an albeit interesting sounding Emergence day game) spawning from the remains of the blood soaked gears of war leftovers.

As long as we dont drag out the annoying OH GAWD MY WIFE and then proceed to shoot her in the face w/ the largest handgun in the game..

GoW4 will prolly bring in the Bulletstorm crew...ya know as comic relief

Wait, what? Gears has a story?
This is how I felt when I first played Gears... Then I played it again and realized that I wasn't really paying attention. For one thing... I totally missed the fact that it doesn't take place on Earth.. Derr...

Conclusion: I didn't care much for the story... what little I found. Fun game though.. 2nd was better.
