To be honest he kinda deserves it. takeing someones house for dl a song is not appropriate. Wonder if he would still wish that on other people if it would happen to him. sadly it won't i fear.
Compare that to shoplifting a whole cd, and then someone even loses something.
Whatever happens it will be entertaining for everyone to watch. But i doubt suing 3 4chaners will greatly affect anonymus's strengh especialy if it's the guys that can't even hack right.
The smart ones will know how to hide. Im just going to sit down and enjoy the fireworks.

sigh.... it has nothing to do with any of THAT, what it DOES have to do with is that Trolls have too much power. since the world practically runs on computers, and people like these trolls have clearly demonstrated that they can destroy any computer network they want, i worry that if they just keep being allowed to do what they do without regulation, we could see our next president being a lolcat...

Good luck to him. I am getting sick of this "Don't mess with Anonymous" fear that so many people seem to feel.
While I can understand your feelings it is also immensely entertaining and interesting to be able to observe a world (the Internet) that does not play by the regular rules. And in some cases, a world that still rebels. I for one hail anonymous, not because they are cyber-terrorists, or hackers, internet black-knights or whatever they might want to call themselves, but because they are the unknown face of a generation of youngsters, protesting in the way they know how.

I wonder in time, if anonymous will be compared to say the hippie movement. Now dont jump at my throat, protesting war and murder is not exactly immediately comparable to the war on pirates...but there is a lot more stuff going on in this slice of the world than one should think. And I am glad that we are not without the anons :)

I want to see anonymous crushed. They had their chance to become a force to be reckoned with. When I used to go to 4chan I tried to start a revolution. They had their chance, let's see 4chan shut down and Gene Simmons rape ever single one.

I agree! Though Anonymous is a world-wide gestalt entity with tendrils buried deep into most forms of media, it's kind of horrible. "Don't mess with them!!!" leaving them to do what they want, when usually that means race-hate crimes, lashing out at successful people, and as Gene Simmons pointed out, media theft taking huge, needed chunks of money from people. To be honest, it will an interesting "clash of the titans." Can't wait to see what happens.

If Simmons loses, though, Anonymous will gain even freer reign... Fantastic...

President Longcat would be a wise and truthful leader.

OT: Yeah, Anonymous isn't really a threat. They're just expressing free speech, which culminates in the form of anti-Scientology. Sure, they shouldn't be downloading music, but are YOU gonna stop them?

Fighting Anonymous is fighting your everyday people. It's futile, you can't win.

Anonymous is a coward who hides behind a computer screen, thinks he's a bigshot and goes out of his way to hack anyone who disagrees with him in the slightest cause it makes his imaginary balls fell big. I will personally laugh when this poser finally gets brought down, I don't care who does it either.
LOL
Please tell me you are kidding xD

If you are, ignore the rest of this post.
If you are not; anonymous represents the nameless, faceless, endless horde of people on the internet.
Most of anon will show support for the small part of anon, and for the most part, are harmless trolls.
That small part though, are more-or-less omnipotent trolls that can do anything they want with a computer.

Gene will need more than the "power" of rock to save him now. Good fortune Mr Simmons, you will need it.

^ this.
Judging by the results of anon's past exploits, I am excited for what will happen when Gene Simmons swings his 'all-powerful fist' into a hostile cloud of nothingness. He might not get it back.

I kinda envisioned a helium fuelled squeaky Napoleon in that sentence. I just find each groups "assaults" a bit of a joke really; it's just going back to our natural animal instinct of clubbing someone over the head because he's "not one of us" and while I'm sure it'll always be more complex than that, to what extent does it lead to? That's something I'm not sure a lot of people can answer, myself included.

Good for Gene though. Internet hackers like this as a whole need to be grabbed out of their parents basements and be given a good spanking by reality and the law. He's well within his rights to bring down justice on these childish pricks for cyber crime as they have a hollow defiance that stinks of fear; hoping to inspire a level of terror and submittal in people can only last so long as there'll be others willing to say to them "Grow up and pay the price for breaking the law would you kindly?"

on one hand: the music industry is bloated. there is no reason a song should be $1.29 its a rip off. the cost of production is ridiculously low and the results are over priced. if gene simmons got his way a bunch of good people (and some bad people) would be out on the street. however, gene really cant do anything except throw his money at lawyers. he isnt smart enough to counter attack.

on the other hand: /b/ is full of perverts and internet terrorists. it is the sewer pipe of the internet. i think they should be taken down.

but: in the intrest of most people i really hope /b/ wins this. they are dangerous to corperations and people who make comments like that, but they arent going to make anyone homeless. they are the lesser of two evils.

edit: also, as a note, i used to pirate music. not anymore. i got a job at a music store and i get a ridiculous discount on everything.

In all honesty I wasn't really a big fan of KISS and anyone who thinks they should be able to use their fame to be a loud-mouth rather than speak diplomatically almost seems as if they're hoping for someone to step on their toes. Not that I don't agree that downloading music illegally is bad and that artists should be paid for their work but endorsing making people homeless is a tad extreme but then again from what I've been told thats all he and his band has really known.

On the other hand Anon. has done some good for society but on the other end of the spectrum they've done some uncool stuff too. A celebrity's legal firm versus about of people with unknown amounts of resources and potential... Should be interesting to see how this goes down. Especially since a republican party website if I remember correctly waved the white flag to Anon. earlier this year.

This is what I was thinking. Anonymous are a bunch of Internet terrorists I'd enjoy seeing torn apart, and Gene Simmons is taking things WAY too far with the anti-piracy.

I'd like some mutually assured destruction on this, but it probably won't happen...

im all for downloading music (who here has the cash to buy EVERY SINGLE SONG that they like? as for me, i dont have more than 3000 dollars on hand at all times)

im against people abusing their power, whether it be copyright lawyers trying to sue 8 year olds or internet trolls trying to take down people's sites and mess up real-world polls so they can spell out names of people who really don't matter but are important on "teh internetz"

Second, they might find their little butts in jail, right next to someone who's been there for years and is looking for a new girl friend.
So piracy is evil but rape is totally okay. Good work there.

Do you mean Bleach or is this more plagiarism I haven't heard of? Because I remember seeing the side-by-sides of his art [http://community.livejournal.com/bleachness/446299.html] and Tite Kubo's and there's characters that are basically redrawn/retraced panels of Kenpachi and Orihime with... er... bleached hair. (And a bunch of other dubious stuff.)

But piracy hurts his bank balance and rape is something that happens to other people. So it's OK.

As am I. While I respect Anonymous's noble attempts, such as "Cheer Up Keanu" day, for the most part Anonymous is a terrible, terrible thing. I hope Mr. Simmons succeeds.

Well, this should be interesting. While I believe Mister Simmons will manage to track down and sue a few of anonymous, there is no way he can find the entire horde before they wear down his patience for the little feud. As long as the supply of willing participants in this daring little foray remain as bottomless as they've ever been, anon will prevail.

As they have before and will again.

All I see here is a misunderstanding for anonymous, as it is meant to be a cross-section of society on the internet. Of course those stereotypes you speak of exist in anonymous but so does the businessman, the artist, the lawyer.

M00t, I'd imagine, is quite safe from this proposed mass litigation, as he's not an idiot. Of course, even were he to be brought in, it would only serve to further motivate the 4chan branch of anonymous. Needless to say, I'm going to enjoy how this plays out.
