Has THQ ever gotten a big scandal or anything? I kinda like them, they're just big enough that they have budget but still small enough that it doesn't feel like every game they release need to be the biggest thing ever. Al thought iirc they placed a massive bet on some gimmicky wii-like toy and lost a shiton of money.
There was that time one of their PR reps had the brilliant idea of holding an AMA on 8-chan, but other than that, can't think of anything really objectionable they've done.

Mind you, THQ Nordic, the THQ we have now, is not the original THQ. That one was an American company that went bankrupt after the monumental failure of the UDraw tablet (i.e. the gimmick toy you mentioned), among some other flops iirc. The companies assets, including the THQ trademark and a bunch of its IPs, then got bought up by a Swedish holding called Embracer Group. Which already had a game publishing arm in Austria called Nordic Games, that they renamed THQ Nordic in 2016. So the current THQ has only been around about 5 years, and is basically a different company.

But yeah, decent mid tier publisher. Nothing you should stan for, cuz that way lies madness, but overall pretty inoffensive.

I have to agree with Lacina on this one. Played the brawler parts and the random brawl encounters are dull and feels like an excuse to let loose on your heat actions or having to heal up at a restaurant.

I get where she's coming from, and it's why I could not get in to the series. Pacing was more so an issue, than the brawling. As for this...

Let’s be honest, the brawling was never that good, ping-ponging between too stiff and too slippery, always messy. Yakuza was never going to be Ninja Gaiden.
I can't help, but feel it's a glorified hot take with that opinion. Different strokes for different folks, but if you're already bringing up another game that plays completely differently and is on a whole another level, you're in the wrong game. Beside, Ninja Gaiden combat I would not call perfect or the representation of brawlers/slashers either. Not to mention, the combat got worse as the sequels went on, while Yakuza actually improved and perfected by the late PS3 and mid PS4 era. Lost Judgement I have no interests in, but I can already tell the hardcore Yakuza fans, won't be listening or mildly agree at best. The actual Yakuza team won't be listening.

That's not a good sign. No one should be to be the next Riot Games or Activision. Nothing good will come of it.

Rest in peace dude. Your Streets of Rage 3 artwork was always my favorite.

I really do appreciate the response from Vicarious Visions about Diablo 2. The fact that they are not only aware of Blizzard's shit (who wouldn't be) but that they understand that people can not support their remake based on that and they are understanding of it, is a positive for me to be honest. It shows that they acknowledge the stigma of what happened despite not being a part of it and they aren't trying to give excuses to people as to why buying Diablo 2 doesn't count because of whatever reason.

That's what this industry needs. It's acknowledgment. That's the problem with it as a whole. A large lack of it. Too many examples of acting like nothing is wrong, a problem doesn't exist, or thinking these people are different because they're getting it or supporting a product for some X reason that has nothing to do with anything that and it, supposedly, makes them better.

These devs went straight to the point and did not try to avoid the issue in any way and gave their respect for those that decide not to get the game. They didn't try to force them nor shame them for anything. Those developers have my respect.

I kinda forgot I had Diablo 2 pre-ordered from basically the second it was available.....like 6 months ago or something like that. Before the Blizzard shit hit the fan. Because this isn't developed by Blizzard, and because of Vicarious Visions acknowledgement behind it all and the lack of guilt tripping or even peer pressuring people to buy it. i am not going to refund by order. Vicarious Visions doesn't deserve the run off from Blizzard's garbage just because they have remade a Blizzard Ip.

Vicarious Vision have always been good and passionate people. It's why I like the Crash Bandicoot remake so much. And it's too bad they got shit canned from Crash and Toys for Bob as well. Another thing Activision ruined. I am glad they got to work on something they do care about with no stress attached. I wish them the best of luck.

Agreed. Crash was dope.....harder than I remember as a kid, but dope still. I hope D2R is just as good as I remember too.

Quantic Dream is working on Star Wars game too. I am not sure how to feel other than, that's strange pick. Do we need a point and click SW game? At least Disney/Lucas Films is bothering to reach out to developers other than EA or Ubisoft.

No they’re more “fill game with as many ridiculous controller inputs for mundane tasks as we can to make it feel more immersive” kinda folks, and Leah will get naked at some point. Cage (nope not the cool actor one) is probably getting George Lucas drunk as we speak to sign off on it.

Or wait is it Disney now? Well they’ve been known to slip hidden porn in their movies before so who knows.

Honestly, Disney and lucasfilms could reach out to either THQ or Grasshopper Studios and I'll be genuinely excited. I would be more excited for them, than Quantic Dream to make a Star Wars game. Until I see more and I'm actually impressed, it's back to No More Heroes for me.

At this point the company might as well collapse because it simply won’t look good for anyone supporting their games. The good ones can be given job placement elsewhere. Either that or at the very least a thorough house cleaning is in order from the top-down.

I mean hell, look at the blowback numerous studios got for just crunching recently, and how many people felt awkward to disgusted supporting them. Work ethics, schedules and work loads are also a somewhat grey area as has been pointed out recently too.

Sexual abuse OTOH and attempts at protecting the guilty is a whole other level of awfulness. The scarlet letter might as well stand for Activison at this point for how tainted they are.
