If you want to go laugh at some gamers, "WiiU" is trending on Twitter due to this article because of a bizarre string of complaints
Gamers are mad that Kotaku is "promoting piracy" for pointing out Dread runs better on a high end PC than on a Nintendo Switch. Kotaku also points out that if you want to play older Metroid games without spending a lot of money, emulation is basically the only way to go.

Gamers point out that you can buy most of the Metroid games on the WiiU and 3ds eshops, completely missing the "without spending a lot of money" part of the argument and ignoring that those shops are closing down in a few months, plus WiiU emulation of gameboy games is absolute ass.

But, they're already doing the "look at this one sentence out of this paragraph and ignore that the rest of the paragraph changes the context, Kotaku bad" meme thing, so...
Gamers really need to stop caring about what Kotaku thinks. They're getting silly.
Everyone knows emulators are a thing and quick google search will get you everything you need to do it.

And yeah, you can get a 3DS or a Wii or a GBA, but all of those are discontinued consoles relying on used sales for games and hardware that will get increasingly hard to find as time passes, and since Nintendo for whatever reason is taking their deal sweet time modernizing and/or putting older games on VC of some sort, eventually people are gonna decide they're gonna play it any way they can(and Piracy is fair easier and cheaper then trying to get a GBA to play Metroid: Fusion or a Wii to play the Prime games).

If Nintendo cared about making money off their old games, they'd make them easily available for sale on the Switch or add more to the Nintendo Direct service then the paltry few they've been adding each month(and a lot of those aren't even first party games lately). The used game market for discontinued consoles/handhelds doesn't benefit them in the least at this point so it's not like it matters if you buy a used copy of the old Metriods or not to them.

*Adjusts me sailing hat and me hook hand* Arg me Mateys, I spent 698 days under the sea playing nothing but emulated old nintendo games and now I'm as sane as any scurvy dog.

I somewhat disagree here. Certain gaming companies are slightly ahead of the curb, but not by much. There's still plenty of companies in AAA industry that are willing to ignore the hate speech or enable it.

Heartwarming and appreciative, but no. Most gamers are not gonna bother. Besides, Blizz-Activision, so they can still fuck off and die.

Not seeing it at all.

Ha. Already on them emulators.
New Switch games running on emulators from day one has been a thing for about a year and a half now really. Switch emulation has come astoundingly far in a very short time, and neither of the two require especially beefy specs to get decent performance in most games.

I'd even go as far as saying that if you have the pc for it, and a real Switch you can dump your legit bought games with, there is not a whole lot of reason to play your games on actual hardware, save for those games that need functionality that the emulators can't provide (yet). Higher resolutions, higher framerates and I believe I'm getting faster load times too. You do have to contend with some stuttering for the first hour or so while the shader cache builds, but that eventually goes away.

120fps at essentially 3600p and barely breaking a sweat, and only because I capped it there with rtss. I don't know how high it would go without the cap, because I can't be arsed to find out. Don't see the point.

Metroid Dread isn't really the best example tho, since it imo already looks and runs quite nicely on real hardware.

I had to remind myself what the hell Ghost Recon Frontline was again. I then remembered it's Ubisofts attempt to boldly go where Fornight and PUBG and APEX and god knows who else have already gone before and I'm already fucking bored just writing this sentence.

Ubisoft: Hey, What you got there?
EA/EPIC/PUBG:: Oh,it's a big free for all Multiplayer-type game called a battle royale It's been big for a couple years now.
Ubisoft thinks about it for 5 years.
Ubisoft: ME TOO!

Ubisoft seems to be slapping the names of Tom Clancy franchises on whatever half-formed idea crawls out of the coked-up brains of its senior executives. (Not the Tom Clancy name itself, curiously; maybe to forestall the estate getting fed up and withdrawing the rights?)

That Rainbow Six movie from Michael B. Jordan can't come out fast enough. Without Remorse is better than anything Ubisoft has done with the TC license for the past decade. Siege does not count!

You know, I'm not normally a "Nintendo should put its games on the PC" person, but if Nintendo threw a few bucks and a license at the emulation folks they could get some really interesting results.

Like, imagine a safe, practical, and supported way to use a PC to get modded Breath of the Wild onto your Switch. There's like, a full Linkle rebuild going on, imagine if it got the tiniest bit of support. Sanctioned Kaizo builds for Mario. Custom maps for Mario Party. Inkling fashion contests

TL;DR
FIFA upped the cost for its trademark usage, and EA is refusing to pay. This could mean EA potentially losing the FIFA license

Now, EA can still re-brand the series as "EA soccer" or something and keep shitting out annual releases, but without that FIFA name, I wonder how much success will they find? This is actually one of the most surprising big-corp break ups I've ever seen, if it were to happen

I don't really know where to put this so I'm gonna put this here.

So aside from "WTF is Binge?", why make a series of this? There's not nearly enough plot to carry this even if you milk both games extensively and there's nothing terribly fucking interesting about the setting to justify it(at least, nothing that hasn't been done elsewhere by this point).

Fuck, you could get a lot more out of any of the Bioshock games because at least those unique and interesting settings

It could work. Considering they build nothing out of the Castlevania TV series, anything's possible. What they should do is combine elements of the first and second System Shock. I am curious, but I'm not getting my hopes held up too high.

Funny you should say that, because while I still think that the Bioshock games are simply Baby's First System Shock, in terms of narrative for a TV show Bioshock may actually be more approachable.

Gameplay isn't really a factor in a TV series/movie, and both Rapture and Columbia are far more attention getting as settings then a space station/ship with a mad AI.

IMO this might be sequel to Arkham series, sharing similar aesthetic and character designs. Kinda make sense, since batman is no more and there's no one to come up with a contingency plan. Still, this is just an in-game cinematic, and we don't have any gameplay yet
