The Short Message actually looks much more interesting, and arguably better even visually. I never expected much from friggin Bloober Team and it’s unfortunate Konami went cheap in trusting a relatively unproven group with such a beloved classic. This will likely be the most derivative remake we’ve seen yet at best.
Sorry to be so negative but I thought The Short Message also looked generic in its own walking simulator way. And the protagonist talking to herself constantly and commenting on everything in her smarmy wHaT iS gOiNg On tone killed the trailer's atmosphere.

I know it's just a trailer but in Silent Hill characters tend to go along with their own nightmare after the initial shock and they don't have this much questioning or self-awareness which makes everything even more eerie. Short Message is a little too on the nose about itself.

But it's just a trailer so what the hell do I know.

I guess I can’t help but think that, partly thanks to practically everything after SH4, the series has played itself out to the point there is little-to-no mystery left. We’re long past knowing what to expect and as sad it may seem, that makes Short Message IMO already more appealing.

If a game about bullying or abuse has the whole 'hallway with insults written all over it' you know you're in for something rather trite. It's odd because I can't even really come up with an example of a game doing this, yet it feels like something that is par the course with first-person indie games.

To me it looked like they are trying to make PT all over again. A short but neat experience worth tossing out for free to put the Silent Hill name back in everyone's mouth.

I gather the PT callback but to compare it unfavorable some more: PT was presented as a mystery. We didn't know who we were, where we were, what we had done, what the hell was going on or what were we even trying to achieve.

The Short Message already shows you who you're playing as, where you are and some of the phantasmagoria you can expect. It also flat out tells you before you even play the game that it's gonna be about confronting and overcoming bullying. Whatever the mystery is in a Silent Hill game, discovering the theming and the personal connection to that theme is the enticing part.

The twist will probably be that she was the bully all along. Or if they were feeling creative that day: while the character herself was a victim of bullying, she probably snapped in a crucial moment and turned to bullying herself with some tragic outcome.

Because bullying begets bullying and knowing is half the battle.

This is becoming Babylon's Fall all over again.
This one is truly fascinating. It's why I still follow gaming news even when like now my actual gaming has seriously slowed down. We've been watching this train wreck happening for like a year or two? As soon as it was publicized everyone's been dunking on it and it's obviously a s***-show and yet it's still happening. Amazing, truly amazing.

And I am glad that I'll never ever pay for this game!

You know, I bet Neil Druckmann and Todd Howard would get along like a house fire when it comes to tenacity of making games that no one really likes
It was already confirmed Niel is working on Part 3, so nothing new here. I'm not interested, and the sequels can get fucked. You lack humanity, dignity, and grace Druckmann.

They both have misguided egos that cause problems but I think the difference is the team around them. I know ND outsourced a lot for Part 2, but technically speaking it’s still a pretty outstanding game. Starfield, not so much.
