Another tech giant ceo being an asshole
Fuck EA as usual. Why do people even bother working for this company anymore?

fckin called it, where do I collect the called it winnings?
I forgot this game even got announced back in 2021(?). I am not shocked at this. All MS cares about is their stupid fucking Game Pass. The console truly has no exclusive games.

They're at 900K Signatures now!

Actually a pretty good response at 9:02.

"I don't care, sir. I don't care. Here's the thing: Life is not fair. Nobody else rose to try and do this until you did, and once you did you became the figurehead of a movement. Whether or not you like it, until that torch is passed onto somebody else, you are the best person to organize."

Of course he isn't! It took more than 20 years to remove that cock-face Bobby Kotich from CEO position at AB; What makes you think MS is gonna remove Phil? He's bringing in the big bucks, so they aren't gonna care.

1. I am more surprised the server was still online after all these years.
2. The game could've been so much better if EA approved that overhaul project. FF14 ARR was, and still is, right there in front of them as an example of successful redemption. Even No Man's Sky had a major redemption! Guess EA didn't want to spend money on that and rather on the next Madden game or BF 2042

Considering there few people online left playing this thing, I somewhat don't blame EA for doing so. They brought it on themselves to begin with. Though now I wonder: why didn't EA do this sooner? The online space for this game died before the year was even over.

This reminds me of teens I met a GameStop around 2019, and I was giving them some gaming recommendations. They and lead group of the three said he was so disappointed by Anthem, that he would never fall into the hype machine again. Or at the very least, look at actual thorough reviews for games he's interested in playing. The kid was so upset by EA's failed promise on the game. At least he and his friends learned at an early enough age.

Is he really? Seems nary a step above Mattrick at this point.

100M players!? the fuck are they thinking? GTA V doesn't have 100m players. nothing has that. Who is the idiot to set that goal?
Pretty sure it means 100m unique players cumulatively across it's lifespan, not 100m concurrent players. The former of which GTA5 with 215m copies sold most likely has done. It's still an unreasonable ask, of course. BF6 would need to be a megahit, and an enduring one at that, to get those numbers.

Hence why it strikes me as EA setting up Dice to fail.

EA trying out a new way of announcing layoffs
I saw someone comment on this on Bluesky, that gave me pause for thought:

But Benzies, famed as one of the driving forces behind the Grand Theft Auto series prior to his departure from Rockstar in 2014, seemingly has bigger plans than just fixes. On July 2, according to the report, he addressed studio staff via video chat, during which he reportedly said the studio would make a comeback and "relaunch" MindsEye, presumably to greater success than it's enjoyed so far, which to be blunt is none.

He also blamed at least some of the troubles with the game and the studio on—and I'm quoting IGN here—"internal and external saboteurs, among other things."
For both of Build a Rocket Boy's top guys to be making similar claims leaves us with two potential explanations:

1. The pressure is starting to get to everyone.

2. There really is a conspiracy against Build a Rocket Boy and MindsEye that somehow caused it to not be very good.
Hmm, reminds of another terrible game that had its re-launch, called The Culling. It did not go well due to pushing the idea of having to PAY PER MATCH in a battle royale game.

(Found a re-upload as the studio has been shut down a long time ago, and this video got so many dislikes it was deleted after the first upload)

Well, if another video game market crash is required to curb these greedy mofos to the ground, them so it be.

If it happens, at least we won't see greedy practices for another decades or so.
