Then why did they even bother getting invested in the first place all the way back in 2001? What did they think was going to happen?
I am guessing it's because back then, consoles were still a profitable investment. I would argue that even Xbox One still had some hope especially after Don Mattrick left.
I hoenestly pin the blame on Game Pass; Great idea in theory, and it looked amazing for people who didn't want to play for every new releases. But MS has been stupidly centralizing the Xbox brand around it.
Just the thought if MS not making consoles and turn into a 3rd-party game publisher is wild. This is gonna be an insane shift in the industry, kinda like how Nintendo beat Sega, then Sony and MS became the competitors
