Somehow, they made it even worse. More spoilers than before and flatter vocals and chorus.

Was never a positive of the original. The lyrics were always dumb and the singer was never very good.
Maaaan... I wanted to be able to say I disagree, but, yeah... I don't like it.
The singer on the original wasn't the best, but I don't like the direction the singer here took. The visuals, yeah, way too much being shown. And what the heck did they do with the snakes. There's absolutely zero breathing room for the visuals. In the original it was more subtle imagery of snakes, placed at specific points. I swear in this new version they're flooding the screen in most of the shots, like they're trying to do something cool with it but it ends up kind of obnoxious

k legitimately am surprised "fantasy life i - the girl who steals time has somehow beat the new Doom title in steam numbers. those are steamy numbers and steamier reviews

Fantasy Life i studio announces free DLC as the "slow-life RPG" sequel gets off to a flying start

Will "update the world".

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time has had an unexpectedly strong start for a sequel to a fairly obscure 13-year Nintendo DS game. And developer Level 5 has now thanked fans for their enthusiasm, pledging to release free DLC in response to its "global success".

The Girl Who Steals Time, for context, is a sequel to Level 5's Fantasy Life - a sort of job-focussed mash-mash of life sim and RPG - which enjoyed modest critical and commercial success when it launched for Nintendo DS back in 2012. Eurogamer's celebrated its "abundance of features" in our 6/10 review at the time, but noted the result was often "less than the sum of its parts".

But in this post-Stardew Valley world - where you can't watch an indie showcase without seeing a dozen new village sims jostling for attention - the newly released Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals seems to resonated with audiences. It's garnered a positive early critical reception and even surpassed 45K concurrents on its first day on Steam (that's more than Doom: The Dark Ages managed) - and Level 5 is now celebrating its launch with news of more to come.

"Due to the game's global success and the warm support from players around the world," it wrote in a message on its website, "we have decided to release a free DLC that includes new recipes as well as expanded content under the title 'Update the World!'."

Level 5 hasn't shared much in the way of specifics, but it promises "new content designed to make use of high-rarity weapons obtained from Treasure Groves and other sources", as well as "even more opportunities [for players] to showcase their gear". The studio says it's working to release the DLC "as soon as possible", and will provide further details at a later date. It sounds like there's even more on the way too; "We will continue to update and improve Fantasy Life i," it adds, "so that players can enjoy its world more comfortably and for an even longer time."

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is available now on Steam, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Switch, with a Switch 2 version coming later this year.

Even the trumpets are deflated compared to the original, especially that first note. Why do this? But I could ask that about the remake, rhetorically.

went through similar arc, though happened right before COVID hit and just before half the ppl I knew lost their goddamn minds lol! was just like "welp, back to videogames it is I guess!"
Well, fortunately I'm such a cheapskate that I generally won't buy a game until it's sub £25, about 50% off for most things, so it's going to be a while til I play this (especially as it's only just been announced 😂). Rogue Trader just went 50% off on steam for the 1st time so I'm umming and ahhhing about getting that. Only game I've played in the last year and a half was pathfinder kingmaker and It's softened me to the idea of playing more owlcat games.

You know, I think we've seen A LOT of live-services dying out shortly after release (some of them well-deserving), but this might be the first time when a live-service gets cancelled pre-release after so much marketing.

I mean yes, Sony hasn't outwright cancelled it yet, but the signs are there. Dear God
It's a bad idea from its foundations, pushed ahead because Sony is desperate to build its own Fortnite-style money printer.

Honestly starting to wonder whether the whole thing is a scam.

Crazy to think that with everything going on, Sony decided to open another studio a few weeks ago, just to produce another live-service.

Seriously Sony, just stop ✋️! Desist! Abstain! Quit! You're not gonna get your infinite live service gold machine! Stick to what you're good at, and make some single player games. With some occasional multiplayer modes, if they are necessary. All that money y'all made from your previous single player games you are just going to keep losing over and over again, and you're gonna have to start cutting out your really great studios, because upper management can never admit fault or keep gaslighting themselves.

GTA + Cyperpunk + hacking stuff from Watch Dogs? Makes sense since it's from ex-GTA developer. It looks alright, just really generic. Even the multiplayer looks like GTAO, including the map editor.

The release date ins June 10, 2025. Which I think is smart thing to do as it's almost a year before GTA 6 release. Maybe this game would be big enough to take on GTA 6 by then

Oufff yeah, you're not kidding about generic. It really doesn't have any identity to stand out, and so close to GTA 6 release? Maybe 2-3 year ago, when there was nothing on the horizon it could have justified itself.

Graphics aside, this looks like a open world game from 2014-2018. Best of luck to these devs, but I am not interested.

EDIT: Not looking good Minds Eye right now.

That is Starfield levels of tepid, boring gunplay. And didn't one of the more recent Ghost Recon games already do using drones for tagging enemies?
