It's been overhyped beyond reason and some fans are ridiculously conflating development time with size, so if Silksong took 8 years to develop against HK's 3 then surely we get somewhere between double to triple content.
I'm pretty sure it's just gonna be more Hollow Knight but with a few twists here and there re: combat and mobility to reflect the character swap. Which is fine by me. I'm not expecting anything mind-boggingly groundbreaking. I love Metroidvanias but the formula is stale as fuck and innovation only really comes from the ones that tend to focus on the more exploratory or puzzle-oriented gameplay. Fighty Soulslikes such as HK usually can't think outside the box of the four horsemen of ability gating: double jump, air dash, ground pound, wall climb.
That's on them, really. From everything I've heard, it's more likely that they spent a majority of that time super-polishing everything that's in the game, not lumping on huge amounts of extra content.
I honestly mostly gave up on ever seeing it.
So set my expectations pretty low for now.

There is a new Shinobi game that is coming out in a few days.
It sounds like its a metroidvania and it sounds like its pretty good and its being done by Lizardcube, you should remember them as the team that did Streets of Rage 4 and Wonderboy: the Dragons Trap remake. But, it also has the unenviable position of being a metroidvania coming out a week before Silksong.
Gmanlives did a review of it, despite how much of a wiener he is.

Hes actually why I know the game exists. His vid showed up in my feed and I ended up clicking on it, I thought it was actually about Ninja Gaiden at first.
Now you don't need to see his dumb ass ever again. I actually brought up Shinobi AoV a few times before in this thread. It doesn't matter now.

Either way, too bad its coming out so close to Silksong. I've really liked Lizardcubes games but Silksong and I still need to beat Ender Magnolia.
Shinobi willl be fine. I have no interest in silk song at all, and I already got Lost Soul Aside coming out the same week as Shinobi.

Hollowknight was so good I kinda have to. Even though I do not like how Team Cherry dealt with fans. I would have liked to at least hear they are still working on it.
I didn't appreciate the long silences and hiatuses of LSA, but at least the creator didn't do any of that stuff you mentioned from yeah Cherry.

According to Sony Interactive Entertainment chief executive of studio business Hermen Hulst, the biggest lesson from Concord was that more oversight is needed during the development process.
"We have since put in place much more rigorous and more frequent testing in very many different ways," Hulst told Financial Times. "The advantage of every failure ... is that people now understand how necessary that [oversight] is."
Translation: “So, we’re $winging for the fences with a whiffle bat.”

That their own exec know nothing about the market and they need less oversight on studio, as demonstrated by them promising to double down on live service right after Concord failed, which we can see in the soon to fail marathon.

What's interesting is that the dev behind Concord was only acquired by Sony halfway through development. Initial development took place under a company called ProbablyMonsters. Not sure why Sony decided to buy the dev, maybe they believed in Concord, but the lack of advertising kinda points to that not being the case and them wanting something else.
