Then the question is which Disco Elysium people? Because developer ZA/UM broke apart after the game's release over an ugly legal dispute. Most of the key creatives that made Disco Elysium what is was were either already gone by release time, or left in ensuing legal battle, most going on to found new studios. So 'the Disco Elysium people' can now mean like half a dozen different studios.

EDIT: apparently this is by ZA/UM, which I guess makes it technically correct, but in that id Software way where, yes, id Software made og Doom, but that id Software and the current id Software have very little overlap, if any at all.
Oh I didn’t know about all that drama, I just saw the game being extremely reminiscent of Disco Elysium and then checked to see the dev name and it was the same.

Let’s hope that whoever they have working now are fans of their legacy and can keep it going. The trailer looks interesting in any case.

Neat, and it's Nightdive, so high chance of excellence. Weird how they're missing all their shots in the trailer tho. Maybe because it's pre-alpha and there are issues with hit detection or reactions or something.
Outlaws has some really cool cutscenes and fantastic music, but the gameplay just is kinda meh. I'm not sure there is much Nightdive can do to really make that feel better. Making the dynamite not suck would be nice, but at its core its just kinda meh.

I meant excellence in the technical sense. Performance and features and such.

Being bought by a saudi prince was the best thing to happen to SNK and produced the long awaited Garou sequel so considering it's EA it can't be made any worse. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Yup, it's not in late november this year. I suppose it's more consistent this way, to have the autumn sale take place within a couple weeks of the changing season like the other major seasonal sales, rather than have the autumn and winter sale only like three weeks apart.

Ugh, but it was at a really good position since you tended to get a few fewer games coming out around that time, currently there are way too many games and updates to deal with a big ass sale.

Was wondering why there was so little negative news around this publisher. They were just working hard on their magnum opus of skulduggery all this time
EA privately acquired in $55bn deal by group of investors, including Saudi Arabia's investment fund and Donald Trump's son-in-law

EA has officially been acquired by a group of investors including Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund in a private transaction worth $55bn.

EA chairman and CEO Andrew Wilson will continue to lead the company - known for its sports games, BioWare's queer-centric RPGs, and forthcoming shooter Battlefield 6 - with the transaction expected to be completed in Q1 FY27.

News of the acquisition came over the weekend, before an official announcement today. The investor group comprises the PIF, as well as investment firms Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners.

"Our creative and passionate teams at EA have delivered extraordinary experiences for hundreds of millions of fans, built some of the world's most iconic IP, and created significant value for our business. This moment is a powerful recognition of their remarkable work," said Wilson.

"Looking ahead, we will continue to push the boundaries of entertainment, sports, and technology, unlocking new opportunities. Together with our partners, we will create transformative experiences to inspire generations to come. I am more energised than ever about the future we are building."

"Electronic Arts is an extraordinary company with a world-class management team and a bold vision for the future. I've admired their ability to create iconic, lasting experiences, and as someone who grew up playing their games - and now enjoys them with his kids - I couldn't be more excited about what's ahead," said Jared Kushner, CEO of Affinity Partners. Kushner is US President Donald Trump's son-in-law.

PIF increased its stake in EA in 2023; now its 9.9 percent stake will roll over. The organisation also holds stakes in a number of gaming companies including Nintendo, Take-Two Interactive, Embracer, Capcom, and more.

Ubisoft is another, with Assassin's Creed Mirage set to receive a surprise free DLC set in 9th century AlUla, an ancient Arabian city. The DLC follows reported funding from PIF.

The PIF was designed to diversify Saudi Arabia's revenue via investment in foreign companies. It's chaired by Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the country's controversial ruler blamed by the CIA for the assassination of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who has upheld the country's notoriously poor human rights record.

Urge to cancel preorder of BF6 rising. Of course they would do this, right when I was about to finally play another Battlefield game. Its like they are trying to make sure I never play another BF game since Bad Company 2.

One of the GOATs is getting a remaster

Ok, so Deus Ex' didn't gain its legendary status from its visual prowess. It was always a kinda ugly game, even for its time. But those remaster upgrades are fugly, like a cheap Steam Greenlight asset flip.
Plus, at this point who the hell would bother playing/paying for an exclusively inferior version when anyone who’s already heard of it and this thing called a “PC” has been there/done that.

Well, with EA being sold to the Saudi's that makes the timing of the sale pretty much perfect since I just canceled my Battlefield 6 preorder.

Good. Not buying EA is the way to go.

What's annoying is that they started to get better. We saw them stopping using Origin with Steam games, we saw them release a remaster of C&C and Red Alert, they also released the C&C source code and BF6 wouldn't need an ea account.

Last time I tried playing Deus Ex on PC, it really did not like it and it took awhile to get it to work.

Was it the GotY edition? I had to tweak some settings, but it was otherwise as good as one could expect a game that old could be.
