Someone made a game engine and editor for N64

Would be kinda neat if alongside the wave of indies nostalgic for that era of games, we get actual new N64 games

Even thought the N64 was my first real console I got, I never cared much for its aesthetic, much prefer the SNES as far as retro aesthetic. Even PS1 style graphic I liked more.

What's going on at Nintendo these days. Mario Kart World was a disappointment, Metroid Prime 4 was bad, Now Mario Tennis seems to be underwhelming, Pokemon ZA sucks but sold 10 like always so who cares. I can't remember the last time Nintendo exclusives had such a weak streak of releases.

Compared to the normal 90's they usually get. I'm mostly looking at the feedback compared to what Nintendo usually gets and it feels like they're hitting a bit of a rough patch. Especially when their record is pretty fucking consistently stellar. (my personal disinterest not included).

People are complaining on reddit, on IGN, and I can't remember the last time I've seem so much crying over Nintendo games.

That's fair, relatively speaking. I don't really have a bone in the fight either way, don't even have a Switch 2. I just have a reflexive response when people talk about how X is so bad, such a bad game/movie, and then it's just...mediocre at worst. It's a me thing that I need to stop having that automatic response even if it's accurate 9 times out of 10.

Unlike with Highguard, I didn't post it as some sort of pwn on Nintendo really. More of like a confused question because they seem to be fumbled so much lately when it is very much not the normal for them. I find Highguard and Concord things to be hilarious. I don't find Nintendo's latest streak of weakness funny, just confusing.

Did they change leadership or lose a bunch of their old school devs to keep the quality up?

Not really. Most of them are nazis or alt-right jackasses pulling the grift or fell into the grift. Even when they get the games they want, they still biatch and moans. You clearly haven't learned a thing your time away, and still fall for it, since that's your answer. Try telling people that shit Famiboards. You would already have 10 peoplr poke holes in your argument one minute after you posted it.

Steam never bothers to moderate their actual forums and are too lazy as well. Makes me appreciate, the few forums that are left where the mods actually have backbones and are not afraid to stump on anybody acting out of line, or peddle alt-right shit disguised as something else.
I seriously believe most of those are like 12 year olds or something. Had a steam account for decades but only play niche stuff and all my visits on stuff to look up a particular patch or mod have been helpful. About the biggest kerfuffle I ever saw was people arguing about romancing Ember in pathfinder cause despite being over 100 years old that’s still too young for elves or something. It was a silly debate but it somehow got to over 100 posts so it was kinda like a train wreck you can’t look away from. But 12 year olds don’t play these games so there wasn’t any “edgy nazi larping” or what have you.

No, most of them are late 20 somethings to people in their fucking 40s. Most 12 years olds wouldn't bother and are playing Fortnite than wasting time on a forum they don't care for yet. This ain't the mid to late 2000s anymore where just assume it's some "12 year old". Also, I've seen more 12 year olds act with maturity and respect than these fuckwads who never grew out child/teenage mindset.

12 year old nazis probably.
I don’t think 12 year olds are mature enough to belong to any political ideology which is why we don’t let em vote. They will always gravitate to whatever is the opposite of their parent’s/ society’s normative position as a way of rebelling. Also studies have shown young teens basically have underdeveloped brains in such a particular way that they basically are sociopaths, which makes becoming a fan of nazi thinking all the more easy for them.

In general I’ve never understood why people who have considerably less time and experience on this earth think they know better than anyone else. I mean, yeah the Dunning-Kruger effect is a thing, but I think America’s rampant consumerism in general encourages/enables it to a somewhat pathetic degree. To the point a lot of these kids are never even able to grow up and out of it. It’s kind of an extension of the old “nobody cares about history” thing, which also has its obvious downsides.

I don't even bother with the forums. I just go to steam to down mode and play the game I'm interested in, and that's it. It's still upsetting to hear and that Valve does nothing about this.
The Steam forums and reviews are one of the very few places you still can get somewhat proper information on games. What else is there ? Curated platforms are full of shills. Most articles are basically ads. Then you have various sites doing culture war all the time and either lauding or shitting on games based on perceived politics. Oh, and then you have YouTubers who are mostly looking for scandals to blow out of propoertion.

I don't want Steam to be heavily moderated. As long as it is not illegal, it should be allowed to stay. I am very much able to ignore some "has gay shit in it. woke trash" review myself. I don't want the same reviewer to instead write "bad characters, bad story" which i wouldn't dismiss as readily.
Illegal stuff should obviouls still be removed.

Is this the end of Rico?

Really makes you think, why the heck are we all still here lol. That the forums have been kept alive has to be some kind of oversight. I went back to the homepage for the first time in like a year and a third of the header menu is about online gambling. Crazy.

I use some of the Steam reviews, but I already know where to go for proper reviews, or people who i'm subscribed to, who aren't paid shills nor use their review channels as political platforms.

Easy for you to say when you're not the one getting harassed or your neck isn't on the line constantly. If heavy moderation gets rid of the racist and sexist butt fucks, I can sleep easy at night. Ignoring can only do so much and is part of the major problem. Inaction just leads to more of the same bad behavior over and over again cause they know they'll never get punished, nor face much consequences unless they reveal themselves.

True. I don't get much harassment because i am pretty careful with my data and shun social media beyond forums.. Of course anyone who is public ralation face of a company or a celebrity or one of those newfangled content creators does not have that option. And that sucks.

However, Steam does actually remove most stuff targetet at specific individuals. It is just ignoring the wider blanket statements, the stuff that disparages companies and general tasteless and offensive political statements that are still legal.

It is not as if there was no moderation.
