Oh and speaking of MS, they annouced their next "xbox" console:

Guess it's gonna be great for those who had xbox consoles this whole time, but not pc?

And if it supports steam, then it means the new console can theoretically play PS Ports on Steam.

What a strange time we live in. Imagine telling people in late-2000s you will get to play xbox/ps games on the opposing consoles.

From an outside perspective, this makes sense. It's not like they really have to compete with XBox anymore.
But at the same time, if Sony’s just going to turn to shit because Xbox isn’t around then why the fuck would anyone bother with them anymore either?

It would be ironic if PC is what saves the industry, generations after everyone thought it would die during the bloody console wars.

*looks at the cost of decent gaming hardware*

Yeah I wouldn't bet any farms on that mate.

Hmm, Fromsoftware is not involved, so it can't be the next soulsborne game.

Probably the next "Tales of" game? or maybe a new IP?
Turns out it's SAO the game.

It takes place during the original run of the first season, where you play as one of the thousands of souls trapped in the game. It's gonna be a single-player experience, where your custom character will have their own arc.

It's an interesting concept, but I wonder how much impact you will have to the story? Unless this is alternate universe where you become the hero, and Kirito never existed or died somewhere?

UUUGGGHHHHH. What's even the point? They ahave lready like three games before this, and one of them was based off the first season of the show, but went into its own direction, and people really liked that one. These games are not for me in general. Seems like a waste of an action RPG.

We already have two Dot Hack games, at least one of which is readily accessible on modern platforms (to purchase legally and play without fiddling with emulators or anything). Since as BrawlMan pointed out there are already Sword Art Online games, I have no idea what audience they're attempting to pick up here, unless they're just trying to get more money out of the SAO audience. Which, fair enough, but.

I'm gonna call it now, that new xbox will be powered by all kinds of AI bullshit.
You couldn't even let me be interested in this new Xbox for more than 2 seconds huh...

Best case scenario, it's a competitor to the Gabe Cube, if they are ever released. Worst case and most likely scenario, it's some sort of cloud gaming thing.

In all seriousness, I've sunk in 1,640 hours into a modded version of the original, so...yeah, 500 hours into the sequel is almost definitely going to happen at some point.
Bungies big new hero shooter has dropped from 90k active players to 68k. Meanwhile tiny indie game about cards has 250k concurrent. How the mighty have....not mightyed.

Yeah it is pretty disappointing. Especially considering how Bandai Namco made it to be some sort of "new" RPG. Nothing wrong with SAO games, but come on!! Would've preferred the next Tales games, or maybe new IP

All SAO games up until now have had really dog shit gameplay, I wouldn't hold my breath for this game.

Did I skim over it or did that page totally neglect to mention the price of the battle pass and its actual contents?
$10 for the battle pass which contains, stickers, and charms for your guns. But the real reason for the complaints is that they are doing the Destiny Shader thing that everyone hated meaning that cosmetics you earn all only good for one time use. So if you unlock a charm to hang on your weapon, you have to get several charms to use them on all your weapons because it's not a one--time unlock.

Also the battle pass features no ultimate reward skin because they are charging 20 bucks for skins in the shop and can't possibly reward you for completing the battle pass that's only 10 bucks.

Instead from innovating gameplay experience from their past work, they are innovating from their past live-service model on how to maximize profit.

Hey Sony, maybe you should start sharpening that axe now?

To their credit the general steam reviews seem positive. But the player count took a 25% hit since yesterday and hasn't recovered. From what i can tell the game has 4 maps and 6 characters, which might just be the case of the game launching far too soon and while it's a decent enough game, there isn't any content in it so people are just playing a few rounds and then leaving. I wish there was a way to tracking steam refunds because that would paint a better picture.

Slay the spire hit 430k concurrent players in the same time frame and averages around 250k which is still 4X the players of Marathon for a little indie game.

Path of Exile is a 10 year old game and it have 3X the active players right now with their newest league today. And they also have their own untracked client plus Playstation numbers.

I predict Marathon is going to stick around longer than Highguard but I don't think it'll ever take off and might last a year.
