First Superman movie turns out really dark and gritty. Official voices declare humor to be out of bounds for DC projects in general.
People ***** and moan.

Supergirl series appears to reintroduce the concept of levity, completely in harmony with the source material's main character.
People ***** and moan. -__-

The internet really does know what it wants.

It wants things to complain about.
I figured that out 30 seconds after I first got AOL dialup in 1998.

This trailer made me cringe a lot. It's Not-Ugly Betty with superpowers. Also, I've seen cosplayers who look more convincing.

I don't know if that's how she was in the comics because I didn't read them, but I remember liking her character in the 90s Superman cartoon.
That's the 3rd? supergirl go watch the big picture Bob did two episodes on supergirl.

... Say what?? None of the tie into the cinematic universe??
We see snippets of Superman in this teaser, and he keeps getting name-dropped all over the place. Well... referenced, at least. Even the family crest explanation from the movie is reiterated. It's all fairly unavoidable given the source material, of course, but that doesn't change the facts.
If they still stand by what they said (as printed in the source you provided) then the direction they're taking Supergirl in is a massive cop-out at the very least. 'Separate from the movie-verse' my voluminous buttocks!

Superman will be appearing in the show it's just not the superman from the films this may crossover with the CW's Arrow and Flash.

Well, I see all of your comments. A lot of hate. I actually enjoyed the trailer.

It looks to me like DC wants to make something like Flash on the CW. It is very lighthearted and fun to watch. There's a ton off character retconning from true DC comic storylines. Hardcore Flash fans probably hate it. Me, I can't stomach watching Arrow. This trailer is headed down the campier trail.

My wife is a DC fangirl as opposed to my more Marvel-ous tastes. So, I'll sit down and watch this with her. It will open to higher ratings than Arrow makes for that week.

Doesn't look as bad as that Wonder Woman pilot..... so thats something.....
Oh that was truly awful. Adrienne Palecki was not a bad choice but the script was horrendous.

She's saving people, so she is better than her cousin just for that. A bit too much into "chick flick" tropes for my liking in a few moments though, specially the ***** boss, but the superhero part seems damn solid and Kara herself seems likeable enough.

I still think having her in a skirt is kind of dumb, considering the "everyone's got a camera" world we live in. Paparazzi will be camping out everywhere to try and get panty shots of her. (If this were set in real life of course)

Just dumb to keep the costume in my opinion. Pants are way more practical. Also, NO CAPES!

True, they're playing into the general stereotypes of what "THE" female audience wants. But baby steps people, baby steps. Both comic and TV industry are terrified of trying to appeal to other than their primary demographics, and unfortunately that's what they see the female audience as. So let them play this one safe. If it succeeds we might very well see more diverse shows starring female heroines in the future.

I mean at least the show seems to have it's own identity when compared to the other DC properties.

I feel like the music may have made it seem a little more saccharine than it actually is, but we'll see. I definitely didn't hate it as much as some people here, though I'm also not wowed.

Looks like the usual garbage superhero show PLUS the usual garbage single female professional show (Single Female Lawyer, fighting for her client, wearing sexy miniskirts and being self-reliant).

That being said, I swear I'll watch this show if she at any point breaks a dick in half with her Kegel muscles (assuming that her partner can even get anything IN her Fortress of Solitude in the first place).

I thought my sexual orientation being used as a punchline for why a girl doesn't like a guy (even though that's clearly where it's going anyway) was something I wouldn't see anymore these days. Guess I was wrong.

I actually kind of liked it before her unnecessary revelation to that guy.

Or more likely they'll just copy and make more dramas with a coat of paint.

I don't know where to stand on this one, but overall I did not enjoy this preview. I get this is a female superman, but I don't know why they had to play the girl comedy show angle so hard. Maybe it's just the preview but the tone seems all over the place and it bothers me. I'm not asking for a Dark Knight, but they should have gone for a more serious tone.
It wasn't so much the seriousness of the tone, it's the fact that it was all over the place. And the music sure as hell didn't help.

I want to like this show, I really do because Supergirl is a pretty kick ass character, but I'm just finding it hard to get excited about this based on the preview. As I said above the tone was all over the place and just wasn't consistent and it almost seemed like the actor was trying too hard sometimes.

Granted I'm willing to excuse some less than stellar acting in many cases because a lot of the time I've found actors grow into the character better that way and overall makes for a better experience, provided you're willing to deal with a certain amount of bad acting.

Though now as I'm typing this, those were mostly characters that played a side role starting off... Second thoughts again.

I'm not sure if I suppose to laugh with the teaser or at the teaser... I'm going to say the formal since outside of the boss's reason for the "SuperGirl" title, the lesbian throw-away line, and the predictable "It's not a Man" sequence over the same modern pop music to advertise something fun for the female audience nowadays, it's wasn't that bad...

Other than that, there's no way all that happens in the pilot unless it's two hours long and, somehow, has a superhero montage in it...

It amazing that all the goodwill That had been built up in me seeing the animated Supergirl could be so thoroughly destroyed by this teaser.

Don't know what to think about this. Wasn't aware it was even a thing. Interesting angle how the humans (by which I mean the government facility whoziwhatsit) want nothing to do with her. Weird how half or more of the people she knows seem to be aware of her dual identity. This is the first episode, right? Shouldn't those people find out gradually over the course of a story arc? Also, clearly going for an audience composed entirely of 16-year old girls. Overall, looks very ehh.

I would have watched this movie just to see how people had portrayed her within this context, because to be honest, Kara is such an interesting character that I would not mind seeing her being portrayed, but this ENTIRE TRAILER just spoiled every major plot point in the movie. If it had just been her arriving on Earth and realising her powers, along with a little help from superman, then I would have been ok with it,but this has literally spoiled every twist any turn in the movie to the point where I don't even care anymore...seriously I don't get it...

I feel like this is a superhero series that is marketed for girls maybe more in that way that everyone has been upset about superhero properties not doing. (If that makes sense)

The trailer was certainly that. Normal girl with super powers tries to live normal life, but then decides she now wants be more than that. She has all the powers in the world but understands what it's like to be viewed as "the blonde who brings the coffee." Hell they made the ginger Jimmy Olsen into a freaking statue-esque Adonis and even her super attractive "friend-zoned" best friend is witty and charming and makes clothes cause of course he does. It's got this Rom-Com vibe to it which honestly speaking is not my thing, but I'll bite. Looks like a quality show, and they're definitely putting effort into it.

I like it. It's empowering, has some heart, and looks like it has great potential. Kinda wondering how her costume will evolve as time goes on. In the promo pic, she had tights under the skirt, after all. Cozza upskirt issues when flying.
Will she change outfits as often as her comicbook counterpart does? That'd be kinda awesome.
