Just FYI: if you enjoy pain, you're a masochist. Sadists are those people that enjoy CAUSING pain in other people.
What did the sadist do to the masochist?

Nothing :p

Make sure your getting enough protein, and if your going to eat crap, eat it in early in the day, save the healthy stuff you like for later on when your winding down.

I'd do a split routine in the gym.

Monday: Chest, Triceps and a bit of abs

Wednesday: Back, Biceps and Forearms.

Friday: Shoulders, Legs and Cardio.

Weekend off.

Thats just what i do, might not suit you as well.

I think that this is kinda silly, but its your workout so I wont be a douche about it.
just dont get any dilusions of grandeur, that happens to alot of people who excessively gain muscle.
be yourself, not the muscles.

OT: I do this workout where I eat untill im full, then take a nap for the rest of the day.
It works surprisingly well.
Im actually fairly fit considering I dont do anything and eat however I want to.

Dude, dude, dude.

Awesome.

OT: I work out every three days. Most of it is cardio, to keep myself in shape. If I were to build my muscle mass too much, I'd grow out of my weight class, lightweight.

EDIT: Well, this is embarrassing. I meant to quote Fangface and his sadist to masochist joke. Though you do sounds like my friend, merc.

I hate people that work out for beauty and getting 'sexy'. I like to work out to get fit and mostly use my own body ot punching bags to get in shape. I dislike going into these large gyms where everyone is working a bit and then looking around to see if they can spot any admirers. Cut that shit out and just get in shape. Mixing working out with sports is most effective for me and gets you in a much better shape. It feels good to be fit.

Lifting weights isn't that great for building muscle or losing weight, unless your throwing round an empty bar for cardio work but then there is no muscle being built.
I agree here. I think using your own body and resistance is a much healthier, effective form of working out. An over-reliance on weights makes you stocky, unnaturally thick and usually isn't very good for your stamina. Try running or jumping rope while you excercise, it's much healthier.

I appreciate you posting something about fighters (who are probably the fittest people on the planet) and their handspeed but not to piss on your parade check this out: Ali, as a heavyweight, had surreal handspeed. Master of them all.

Well I do a lot of downhll mountain biking, which is pretty good exercise for most of your muscles. I don't really like working out. It's not that I'm weak, but I just find it a dull way to keep in shape.

So when your sweating your tits of in a gym (literally), think of me bombing it down a steep technical track, adrenalin pumping, having the time of my life. I swear I will never understand why people go to a gym.

Being in the minority here (read: older than most on here), let me just say from first hand experience, those of you youngins (heh!) who say you're out of shape (note that I didn't say fat), I highly suggest working on that now. Believe me when I say you will greatly regret it as you get older if you don't. It's a hell of a lot harder to take care of it later rather than right now.

OP: You're really hurting yourself with the Twinkies. You can lose weight, yes, but as others have said before, your body works much differently and less effectively on a crap diet than on a decent one.

Started doing a dedicated training regimen last year which involves push ups and sit ups, I went from 3 push ups at a time to being able to do sixty and have lost 14kg in less than 12 months. Doesnt seem that impressive though, but I take my time with things.

I've been working out at gym a lot lately and I've realized something about myself. 1) I am a fucking sadist. I really push myself at the gym and I view pain as the goal. 2) I am perfectly willing to take up a brutal exercise routine, but I will not diet. I'll lift weights until I'm stiff and sore. I'll run until I want to die, but I won't stop eating twinkies. How about you? Do you have any weird workout regiments or odd diets?
Note: I'm actually getting good results from this plan. I've gone down 2 pants sizes and my lats are rock hard.(Those are the muscles on either side of your neck)
You realise rock hard muscles are closer to BAD than good right? Rock hard lats mean you can't turn your neck as far as you should be able to.

I read a magazine about fighters (it's called fighters only) and at the back is ways they train and there big on functional training, so they won't do bicep curls that much 'cos they wont be throwing an uppercut by bending there elbow really fast. So they grab a resistance band stand on it and simulate an uppercut.

If your not going into any sports then you can pretty much do what you like but I think it's best to train like a fighter, incase you get into a fight. The other guy might be built like a brick shit house but it won't be functional, whereas yours could be.

Ali was a fast guy, which is why he won so much. In them days all the heavyweights were slow sluggers, who just plodded forward with no finesse and the first one to land a good punch won. Ali saw this flaw and trained his speed which meant he would dominate.

The exact same happened with Frank Mir and the UFC, all them were heavy, slow sluggers who knew no BJJ, Frank came in and made everybody tap so he was considered great, till everybody else studied BJJ then Frank became average.

Keep in mind about boxing and UFC, UFC fighters train more on other skills aswell as boxing, they learn mauy thai, BJJ, wrestling etc. Boxers train punching power, speed and foot movement.

If anybody wants to learn/try a few things

Like weird exercise routines...
I hate being out of breath from running so i don't do it but I love swimming laps and can swim a 50ft underwater(Thats actually not fun either)
I have a strict diet of no ice cream, white bread, sugar, soda, French fries, and other things but what I do eat I COVER in salt. Which is probably worse.
I enjoy push ups, but hate weigh lifting with a passion.

On the note of injury we had a utter genius try to lift a stack of about 300 pounds that he had placed on his hand (just stacking dumbbells on it) after he couldn't lift it he yanked his hand out from under the stack...except he left his skin and muscle "glove" behind as a excellent example of a degloving injury(EMT friend actually calls it this).

Dieting is not part of my weightloss plan.

I basicly sit in a chair all day, so the stuff I eat is accumulating & the lack of movement isn't compensating. I told myself "screw the gym, I can make my own home gym dirt cheap."

So today I wore my pushuppiest bra & a low cut shirt & headed off to the nearest garage sale; the best place to get cheap slightly-used excercise equipment. I spoted a 1994 Nordic Track treadmill with wood panneling that didn't work, Immidiately, 3 guys came over & fixed it for me for free, then sold it to me for $3. Then I visteted all the local comic book stores for Free Comic Book Day.

I try to avoid over-eating by keeping myself busy, whether it be bass, or homework.

I also frequently go on bike rides while I listen to my Death Metal collection. :D

I know you weren't asking for advice, but your diet can really show results and give you about 500% more energy for those workouts, thus allowing you to inflict more pain upon yourself.

And one small piece of advice from someone who has been there, don't forget your legs, and for the love of your knees, no matter what you do, do not ever, EVER, get under a squat rack with more than 300 lbs, I don't care how big your legs are or how inflated your ego is. Please.

Have a nice day.

When I work out, I get "obsessed" with certain exercises that I enjoy. I don't neglect any body parts because that can not only look strange, but end up causing injuries. But I love, love, LOVE side planks and the leg press is my all time favorite machine EVER.

The only 'problem' I have, is that I've got some bone tumors on my shoulders, and as a result have 'snapping shoulder syndrome' which doesn't bother me, as I simply blast black/death metal as loud as possible while I work out. It does however, creep those around me out a tinsy bit. My right shoulder is particularly loud...
